Minnesota's final prospect camp of the summer of 2025 will go down as one of the most memorable of my career, in large part due to the underclassmen performances at the Gophers' Gibson-Nagurski Athletic Center last night. Even after a nonstop summer camp circuit with PrepRedzone, nothing continues to get me fired up like scouting high school football talent, and the 6/16 Minnesota Gophers RTB Prospect Camp was one for the books. In front of more than a dozen college football staffs from the FCS to DIII, NAIA, and junior college levels, prospects from around the country did battle under the bright lights of high-intensity coaching and competition, and PrepRedzone has your complete coverage from the star-studded roster that descended on Dinkytown Monday night. Dig in folks, live, in-person, padded up evals are as good as it gets.

Israel Abrams (Montini Catholic, IL) 2027. Holds a Gopher offer.

It was a star-studded QB group that descended on the Gopher's second & final prospect camp of the summer, led by blue-chipper Israel Abrams and Minnesota's superstar 2027 Moorhead product [player_tooltip player_id='1194605' first='[player_tooltip player_id='1194604' first='Jett' last='']' last='Feeney']. Abrams, who I originally scouted and ranked as part of the inaugural PRzIL 2027 rankings drop, was first at St. Viator with eye-popping JV film, has developed into one of the best arms in the nation, holding offers from the likes of Kentucky, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Iowa State, but this is his third time visiting the Gophers, an optimistic sign for Gopher fans interested in the recruiting side of things. He's the real deal, with the size, athleticism, and arm talent obvious of an elite, national prospect. His smooth, quick release was as impressive as it was consistent, and with his strong touch, timing, and velocity, every throw is available to the Chicagoland product on the route tree and he checked all the boxes yesterday in Dinkytown. Would be incredibly exciting to get this kid in Maroon & Gold.

Luke Rubley (Regis Jesuit, CO) 2028.

As mentioned in the intro, this was the camp of the underclassmen, and Colorado product Rubley had the best QB performance I've seen from a freshman in my half-decade+ with PrepRedzone. With great size, Rubley carried himself with rare poise and confidence for a freshman, and boy did he back it up. Obvious velocity and accuracy on his throws, a compact, quick, precise release, great timing, and arm talent well above your typical 15-year-old. The whole route tree was available to Rubley, and he was consistently delivering the rock with pop and accuracy to all three levels of the field. Looks like a blue-chip talent to me.

First time seeing Moorhead's superstar QB [player_tooltip player_id='1194605' first='[player_tooltip player_id='1194604' first='Jett' last='']' last='Feeney'] live and in the flash, and he lived up to the hype. Amongst a talented group of peers, Feeney's arm strength and accuracy were on display and stood out from the crowd, and he's as big as advertised, with more room to grow. Had a strong 1v1 showing and was slinging the rock to all three levels of the field, and he was in hot demand as well, with a plethora of coaches, including a consistent group from the Gophers, keeping an eye on the rising junior. It's going to be a huge 2025 for the Moorhead Spud, who is fresh off his first offer from FCS heavyweight Montana State.

James Thompson (Simi Valley, CA) 2027.

Very much under the radar, Thompson was the darkhorse performer of the group, proving himself to be the most athletic of the bunch, as well as one of the most accurate and consistent I saw during indy and routes on air with the competing WRs and TEs. Thompson earned some high praise during 1v1s, where he came alive and had some of the best throws of the evening. Live arm, ball placement was on point, coachable, attentive, and he was throwing with confidence as well. Only holds a Sac State offer right now.

Kanon Reichman (Three Forks, MT) 2027.

Eye-catching size to go along with one of the bigger arms in attendance in Dinkytown. With a big looping release, it took a bit of time to get the rock out, but the pigskin came out of Reichman's hand with obvious pop, and he had some good throws throughout routes on air and 1v1s that put his WRs in good positions to succeed. Definitely under-the-radar coming out of Montana as well.

Savion Miller (Iowa City Regina, IA) 2027.

Big dog out of the RB group and represented the Hawkeye State well. Low center of gravity, strong, and explosive, Miller showed off clean footwork and some suddenness during drills and indy and was a nuisance for LBs to handle during 1v1s, holding down a spot as a top performer during competition with ease. He holds early offers from Miami (FL), Mizzou, and Iowa State, and I'd keep an eye on the Iowa City product for one of those 2027 RB spots in their upcoming recruiting cycle.

Madison Suah (Moorhead, MN) 2026.

Moorhead High School sent a contingent of freaky, brand new names to Minneapolis for the Gopher's second prospect camp, a number of which will be making big-time debuts on the 2026 ranking's Big Board. Coming out of the RB group and the 2026, Madison Suah blew the testing portion of the prospect camp out of the water, earning a ton of attention from the hosting Gopher staff, and his quickness and explosiveness were in the spotlight during 1v1s, where he could beat LBs at the top of the route or by simply working vertically. This kid could be one of 2025's breakout stars if he can translate the athleticism onto the gridiron.

Jurkovich has added some weight since the last time I saw him and he had a strong performance in all three phases of the Minnesota Gopher's Prospect Camp. The Forest Lake rising junior is going to have a massive 2025 on the gridiron, as he's one of the fastest RBs in the state and is only getting faster, fresh off a breakout season as a sophomore in 2024.

Finally got eyes on the best young receiver prospect in Minnesota's recent history, and he lived up to the hype, coming alive during 1v1s for one of the best showings of any skill player in attendance. Opened up the 1v1 reps by burning a fellow talented sophomore Minnesotan deep on an easy fade route, and he continued the trend of 1v1 wins throughout the entire session. With a comfortable, competitive countenance, Mack was locked in and putting in work, once again showing himself to be one of the twitchiest, craftiest, most natural route runners I've seen in my time as a scout. Nuanced, and does a great job of feeling and adjusting to an opponent's body position, and he can shut down his routes and cut on a dime smoothly and suddenly throughout a route. Tons of juice in the young buck, who came into the camp with a Gophers offer.

Ayden Gonzalez (Bishop Verot Catholic, FL) 2027.

Not your biggest wideout in attendance, however, Gonzalez, a Florida product, was an energizer bunny out of the slot who was lightning-quick at the top of the route and was a mismatch nightmare for SAFs and nickles to try and defend in off-man coverage. DBs were visibly nervous and on their heels prior to having to rep 1v1 vs. Gonzalez, whose twitch, comfortability with the route tree, and deep speed helped him beat both bigger, physical safeties and quicker, smaller nickels in man coverage. Burned a very fast Minnesotan deep for a 1v1 win on a fade, and his ability to track the deep ball, as well as play it in the air, was impressive to say the least, and he had strong, sure hands to top it all off.

Kamden Gilles (The Benjamin School, FL) 2028.

A fantastic freshman from the Land of Skill, Gilles was bumped up to the Big Dog 1v1 group of WRs and DBs during the final portion of Minnesota's second and final prospect camp, and he stepped in and handled business against rising senior DBs like it was a walk in the part. Sudden, explosive, and downright filthy releases at the LOS, which created an eye-catching amount of separation against high-level CBs, and his deep speed easily allowed him to win vertically and when working deep. Gilles put the camp on notice and forced you to pay attention on Monday night.

Jaxon Hellerud (Shakopee, MN) 2029!

With a familiar last name, Shakopee's Jaxon Hellerud exploded onto the state's recruiting scene yesterday in Dinkytown. The 2029s made some major noise at the Minnesota Gopher's second & final prospect camp, and Hellerud was one of the biggest winners, getting pulled up to the Big Dog WR/DB group during 1v1s and asserting himself into the conversation forcibly and impressively. Unreal burst for his age, crafty, fluid route runner with a ton of juice at the top of the route, and an overall smooth customer who looked, played, and tested well above that of your typical 8th grader going against rising seniors.

Something different about this kid. As soon as the Southern Illinois wideout stepped up to the LOS, everyone seemed to hold their breath. Tall, long, confident, intense, and one of the best athletes in attendance, Johnson put on a show-stopping performance during 1v1 competition of the Minnesota Gopher's Prospect Camp. Such a concise route runner who could impressively drop his hips and explode out of his cuts, Johnson was twitchy and untouchable at the LOS against press coverage, and he ended the 1v1 performance with the best rep of the evening, perfectly setting up an opposing MN CB on an outside steam before explosively cutting back inside, taking the CBs ankles and putting him on his butt for a ridiculous slant route and win. This kid is special! You heard it here first.

Darrion Gilliam (Iowa Central CC/Mount Carmel, IL)

Talk about flash! Gilliam, a JUCO product, was one of the most physically eye-catching wideouts and route runners in attendance. Twitched up, lightning quick release and breaks, great length, and when he went up, climbs the ladder, and plays the ball in the air, everyone seemed to hold their breath, as his length, ball skills, and vertical ability were electrifying. One of the most explosive players in attendance with a D1 frame and the ball skills, athleticism, and route running ability to match. Someone is going to get a hidden gem out of ICCC.

A massive, can't-miss TE prospect coming out of the ever-talented Fargo area, Kessel sure rose his stock yesterday in Dinkytown, getting comfortable during 1v1s and really showing off his rare, elite skillset of length and pass-catching ability. Kessel started to show some real juice at the top of the route, and his massive catch radius, vertical ability and bounce, and sticky hands helped him prove himself as a contested catch, 50/50 ball monster who could overcome tight coverage all around the gridiron. The Gophers were his first overall offer back in May, and Kessel proved that he could be a game-changer at the P4 level last night in Minneapolis.

Brooks Bakko (Kindred, ND) 2027.

Owning some of the best TE film in the nation, and I'll stand by that, sleepy, small town North Dakota hotbed Kindred is home to another freak, and he put on a show yesterday in Minneapolis. Minnesota was Bakko's first overall offer back in April, sparking fellow offers from the likes of USF, NDSU, Michigan State, Iowa State, North Dakota, Utah, and Kansas, and Bakko, with a rare combination of size, length, and athleticism, was a nightmare for SAFs during 1v1s. He proved the Gophers right yesterday from his performance, which included a consistent ability to separate at the top of the route, a nightmare mix of vertical ability, body control, and soft hands for SAFs to try and break up, and good speed that could beat you deep once he got a step and stacked the defensive back. He was slippery, owned a big catch radius, and was overall fun to watch. Good showing by the two North Dakota 2027 TEs.

Very excited to have finally gotten eyes on CDH product Frierson-Hollie, who was bigger and thicker than expected, tested well, and really showed up and showed out during 1v1s. Frierson-Hollie had eye-popping vertical ability and body control, not to mention a MASSIVE catch radius, when he climbs the ladder and plays the ball in the air. He made some crazy snags over tight coverage from helpless LBs during 1v1s, and his athleticism and size were as in your face as it was impressive.

My favorite linebacker of the night, Michigan's Camden Noe is oozing with upside and ability, coming in as a tall, long, and lean rising sophomore with the capability to grow into monstrous proportions sometime soon. A first-in-line kid during the linebacker indy and positional drills, Noe could run the hoop and drop his hips for his height/age, displayed twitchy stick & plant ability with noticeable acceleration and burst out of his breaks, and the capability to smoothly and suddenly shut his body down and start/stop. Also was a playmaker during 1v1s, picking off a couple passes, with the athleticism and dynamic ability to make an impact as a coverage defender. I saw him getting a significant amount of individual attention from the Gophers staff as the evening wore on. I'll be making sure to follow up with our PRzMI scouts on Noe's performance.

One of the biggest stock-risers from the offseason, Clarksean has now gone back-to-back summers as a Top Performer at a Gophers prospect camp, and he's done a great job of developing and improving year-to-year. Clarksean is noticeably bigger than the last time I saw him, and he was a first group 'backer and a front-of-the-line kid who was hustling his butt and putting in a ton of effort that is required to be a standout and a P4 kid like the Gophers. Clarksean is flexible and bendy from the LB spot, with the ability to smoothly and quickly run the hoop, and he was sudden in his his cuts and when changing direction. Not a lot of wasted movement and a good amount of speed peppered into this Mankato product. The Gophers will be keeping a close eye on Clarksean this next season.

Good footwork, big, strong, powerful kid, built for the ILB position, with good overall mobility for his size and some especially impressive quickness and change of direction skills. Good to see him make his way up to Minneapolis last night. Keep an eye on this Iowan, Gopher fans!

Elite combination of size and athleticism, comes out of a tough football state, and put a ton of effort, hustle, and competitiveness into his performance at the Minnesota Gopher's second and final prospect camp of the final. Top-end speed easily helped him carry RBs going vertical going 1v1s, disruptive and impressive in pass coverage for his size, tons of burst in his game, and the size to really do damage when padded up. Explosive, long, and took a ton of reps throughout the 1v1 session, which I always like seeing from DBs, Duclona was fighting and crawling out there, and I loved the aggression and intensity from the young Sunshine State CB. You could tell the moment was big, but not too big, and he was locked in and aggressive in his man coverage, especially when pressing at the LOS. Long at the catch point, good body control and body positioning allowed him to stay square, not get over his knees, and stay in a compact position that allowed him to mirror and break with WRs throughout their route. Duclona came up north and made some waves in the Upper Midwest!

One of the aforementioned freaky, brand new to our radar members of the unreal Moorhead contingent to descend on Minneapolis and the second Minnesota Gophers prospect camp of the summer, it was a pleasure to watch rising senior Shadrach George yesterday in Dinkytown. Built like a LB, it was a little bit mind-bending watching George play man coverage so effectively as a perimeter corner. At a muscle-bound 205 pounds, George had great burst out of his break, and his combination of physicality and quickness when covering WRs at the top of their route was a nightmare for WRs to try and work through. He had a lot of WRs beaten before they even got out of their breaks, and his anticipation and short-area quickness allowed him to compete on every route on the route tree, especially on underneath routes to the first and second level of the field. You couldn't stop George from taking reps, which I loved to see, and he had a smooth back pedal and could drop his hips well, great footwork that showed no wasted movement or steps, and play speed that helped him stay vertical with faster X receivers and shifty slotbacks. He had the most PBUs and won reps of the night. Buy stock now!

The Byron product, who PRzMN is high on, to say the least, was being very closely watched by the biggest names and coaching staffs in attendance, namely the Gophers and North Dakota State Bison. Heimer blew the testing portion out of the water, showcasing elite athleticism that we at PRzMN have been very aware of for quite some time now, and he had a strong showing during 1v1 competition. Playing man coverage out of the slot as a high safety, a tough task to say the lease, Heimer had a strong overall showing filled with plenty of INTs and PBUs. Heimer was patient at the top of the route and did a good job of adjusting and staying in solid position with twitchier slotbacks, as Heimer's top-end speed and raw burst out of his breaks allowed him to make a ton of plays on the ball, and he was aggressive at the catch point, where his length was an asset and speed allowed him to come in with momentum needed to break the ball away from larger TE targets. Tons of undercut PBUs on good pass catchers, hung with the twitchiest route runners in man coverage, and did a great job of flushing a rep and bouncing back with a W after a rare loss. I think the Byron product made some money last night.

Only measuring in at around 5'6, Brown has elite athleticism, highlighted by outstanding twitch, some of the best I've seen in my time with PRZ, and he's no stranger to the bright lights and has risen to the moment every time I've seen him in a high-pressure, high-intensity moment. With physicality, outstanding body control and short-area quickness and twitch, and explosive top-end speed, Brown is able to stay step for step with any and all WRs who he faced, and his 1v1 performance was culminated in one of the best reps of the evening. Working against a taller receiver who he was giving up near a foot to, Brown, right off the LOS, perfectly melted the WR into the sideline to erase his impact on the rep and remove him from anywhere close to the ball, and his high-energy, highly-productive play style earned him a ton of attention from the Gophers staff in attendance. He's one of the biggest recruiting enigma's in the state.
