In the month of June, we always give our rankings a fresh update and add more players to each class. We kicked off our ranking update series with the 2028 class. This week, we continued with the 2027 class, ranking the top 125 juniors going into the 2025 football season. In case you missed it, you can check out our 2027 rankings RIGHT HERE. Following each ranking update, we also dive into the rankings and talk about the players that are standing out and what makes them among the best in their class. In this breakdown, we're putting that spotlight on the running back position. The top three guys have been locked in to those spots for a while but this is a very talented position class. Two running backs were already featured this week in our Stock Riser post. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more 2027 prospect breakdowns and more ranking updates each week!

[player_tooltip player_id='649663' first='Octavian' last='Roberson'] - Broken Arrow

Broken Arrow running back [player_tooltip player_id='649663' first='Octavian' last='Roberson'] is coming off a terrific sophomore season and we're looking forward to seeing what he does this fall. Roberson is holding on to the top spot at the running back position in this class because of his overall versatility. When you look at his production last season, you saw a player that was obviously dangerous in the ground game but he was also a very productive receiver out of the backfield. He's a dynamic and all around offensive threat.

[player_tooltip player_id='693905' first='Delijah' last='Matthews'] - Carl Albert

If you're looking for a breakout star for this upcoming season, we're going to point you towards Carl Albert's [player_tooltip player_id='693905' first='Delijah' last='Matthews'] as he prepares for his junior season. Matthews has been a prospect that the Titans have been excited about since he entered high school. And frankly, they haven't needed him the last two seasons. It's a good problem to have. But now, they'll unleash him against the rest of Class 5A and if this spring was any indication, he's going to be ready for the challenge.

[player_tooltip player_id='602991' first='Braeden' last='Baker'] - Lincoln Christian

Lincoln Christian running back [player_tooltip player_id='602991' first='Braeden' last='Baker'] is ready to take that next step this season. You started to see glimpses of it last year when he was a sophomore. Baker split carries with two other running backs but as it turned out, he might have done that out of necessity. Baker was banged up throughout his sophomore season and now that he's back to 100 percent, his workload could go up and we could see him absolutely explode from a production standpoint this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1109329' first='Anthony' last='Keys'] - Millwood

Millwood running back [player_tooltip player_id='1109329' first='Anthony' last='Keys'] was one of our favorite running backs to watch in person last season. Keys doesn't have the size that some of the other running backs on this breakdown have but good luck bringing him down in the open field. His lower body is so incredibly strong that he just bounces off defenders in a one on one situation. And he also has the overall speed and quickness to get into the open field. He checks a lot of boxes from that running back position.

[player_tooltip player_id='1084102' first='Justin' last='Palacios'] - Hooker

Way out in the panhandle, there is a running back that has been tearing up defenses since his freshman year. Hooker's [player_tooltip player_id='1084102' first='Justin' last='Palacios'] is one of the more underrated prospects and overall players in the state's 2027 class. He burst onto the scene during his freshman year and then came back even stronger during the 2024 season. He's also a standout on the track. He plays Class A ball and he's hundreds of miles away from the major metro areas but he's still a name to know.
