We kicked off our ranking update series with the 2028 class. In case you missed it, you can check out our 2027 rankings RIGHT HERE. Following each ranking update, we also dive into the rankings and talk about the players that are standing out and what makes them among the best in their class. Earlier this week, we put out a breakdown on the top five stock risers, followed by the top five newcomers. In this breakdown, we're putting that spotlight on the wide receiver position with the top ten guys at the position in the latest update.

[player_tooltip player_id='284117' first='Mason' last='James'] - Norman North

Norman North's [player_tooltip player_id='284117' first='Mason' last='James'] continues to have a stranglehold on the top spot at this position and is a consensus top five overall recruit in the 2026 class. There's not much else we need to say that hasn't been said already about James. He's a special talent and is going to continue being one of the top playmakers in the state. Earlier this month, James would announce his commitment to Washington, picking the Huskies over a who's who in college football.

[player_tooltip player_id='1045555' first='Joshua' last='Rushing'] - Lawton MacArthur

Lawton MacArthur wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1045555' first='Joshua' last='Rushing'] has been a dude that we've been interested in for a few years now. Physically, Rushing checks just about every box there is and he has the ability to be one of the top playmakers in Class 5A. He has size, legitimate speed and reliable hands, making him very tough to contain for opposing secondaries. He's routinely been one of the top guys at the WR position. Earlier this offseason, Rushing announced his commitment to Tulsa.

Xavier Okwufuleze - Rejoice Christian

At this time last year, not many people outside of Owasso knew about Rejoice Christian's Xavier Okwufuleze for his football play but it didn't long to figure out who he was. Fast forward to this summer and he's one of the top overall prospects in the state's 2026 class. Okwufulueze is still a standout on the basketball court but his future is so incredibly bright in football. He has size, speed and is coming off a monster breakout season for Rejoice Christian.

[player_tooltip player_id='1217089' first='Tahkari' last='Bethel'] - Owasso

It only took one game last season to realize that Owasso wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1217089' first='Tahkari' last='Bethel'] was one of the best players in the state. He absolutely exploded in the season opener against Bixby and had a breakout junior season following his move from Booker T Washington. Bethel got banged up during that junior season so his production could have been even better. Now that he's back to 100 percent, we can't wait to see Bethel back on the field.

[player_tooltip player_id='587266' first='Quincy' last='Shelton'] - Hugo

When it comes to this position in the state's 2026 class, there might not be another prospect that we knew about earlier than [player_tooltip player_id='587266' first='Quincy' last='Shelton'] out of Hugo. He first emerged following his freshman season and he was known for his abilities on both sides of the ball. Now, he's one of the top overall offensive threats in southeastern Oklahoma and he has the potential to break a game wide open. He's still one of the top guys in this class and has been since he was a freshman.

[player_tooltip player_id='402385' first='Tayshawn' last='Wade'] - Broken Arrow

Broken Arrow wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='402385' first='Tayshawn' last='Wade'] is another incredibly intriguing prospect in the state's 2026 class as we head into this season. He's another guy that feels like his best football is still in front of him and he had a really solid junior season. Every time we've watched Wade in person, he's always impressed us with his ability to go up and get the football. He's going to be a red zone nightmare for opponents in 6A-1 this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='911962' first='Julius' last='Wilson'] - Owasso

Owasso has another receiver on this breakdown with [player_tooltip player_id='911962' first='Julius' last='Wilson'] as he moved over to the Rams from Holland Hall following his sophomore season. Wilson is also considered one of the state's top basketball prospects in the 2026 class but we still believe his ceiling might be higher in football. He is the biggest member of that three-headed monster at wide receiver for the Rams and his best football continues to be ahead of him.

[player_tooltip player_id='595689' first='Ryder' last='Murphy'] - Mustang

[player_tooltip player_id='595689' first='Ryder' last='Murphy'] emerged as one of the top wide receivers in Class 6A-1 last season as he and his brother Phoenix took 6A-1 by storm at Norman. This offseason, he moved over to Mustang and joins a Bronco offense that has some serious firepower coming back in the skill player department. We got a chance to watch Murphy this offseason in 7v7 as well as in the spring, with the pads on and he's a big receiver that is incredibly reliable.

[player_tooltip player_id='979658' first='Malakai' last='Dillard'] - Jenks

Jenks wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='979658' first='Malakai' last='Dillard'] just has to get healthy and he'll be right back up the ranks in the state's 2026 class. When he's healthy, he's one of the best playmakers in the wide receiver position group and as we've said in the past, he makes a lot of hard things look very easy. Jenks is starting a new era this fall and they looked really sharp offensively this spring. Dillard is one of the top guys at this position when he's on the field.

[player_tooltip player_id='1678993' first='Santorrio' last='Boykins'] - Newcastle

Newcastle's [player_tooltip player_id='1678993' first='Santorrio' last='Boykins'] is one of the more intriguing prospects in the state's 2026 class, regardless of position. He started his high school career at Edmond Memorial and we thought that his ceiling was incredibly high just based on his size and athletic ability but he never had that breakout moment. He's moved to Newcastle and if this spring was any indication, we could be seeing that breakout moment coming this fall.
