A lot will change between now and August in the ever fluid highest Class in the State. Below are my Top 5 Class 6A teams as we inch closer to Spring practice here in Georgia.

(1) Grayson Rams

The defending Champs look to be in good shape to defend their Title in 2025. They return their QB1 in [player_tooltip player_id='283913' first='Travis' last='Burgess'] ('26) who accounted for over 2800 yards total offense last season. They do have to replace their leading rusher and receiver from '24 but the Rams spread the ball around a lot last Fall and have tons of capable returners. Ashton Turner ('27) rushed for over 500 yards last season on just 100 carries and will be competing for RB1 spot this Spring. The Rams used 16 different WRs last season so there will be plenty of experienced targets to throw to in '25. [player_tooltip player_id='283860' first='Jonathan' last='Stafford'] ('26) returns after catching 21 passes last year. Defense will be the Rams bread and butter this year with 2 of the best players in the State returning. Number 1 overall player [player_tooltip player_id='212311' first='Tyler' last='Atkinson'] ('26) returns at LB and is the front runner for State POY. At the OLB spot 6'2 197 Anthony Davis ('26) returns after putting up over 100 TT last Fall with 15 TFLs.

(2) Carrollton Trojans

You know your program is in good shape when you lose the National QB of the Year and you still are expected to compete for a Title. The Trojans will be in good hands with 6'4 205 [player_tooltip player_id='1153229' first='Mason' last='Holtzclaw'] ('26) taking over the QB1 role. The rising Senior has 20+ D1 offers including Florida State and South Carolina. Holtzclaw will have a ton of returning weapons on the offense to play with. Rising Senior RB [player_tooltip player_id='401535' first='Kimauri' last='Farmer'] ('26) returns after rushing for 1300 yards last Fall. Returning at the WR spot are highly touted rising Seniors Ryan Mosely ('26) and [player_tooltip player_id='418493' first='Peyton' last='Zachary'] ('26) who combined for over 130 catches and 1800 yards last Fall. The returning defense reads like a D1 roster also with rising Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='418080' first='Zelus' last='Hicks'], [player_tooltip player_id='681160' first='CJ' last='Gamble'], and [player_tooltip player_id='401493' first='Dorian' last='Barney'] among the slated returning players.

(3) Buford Wolves

The Wolves lost in the SF last season to Carrollton. Is 2025 the year they break through? They return their QB1 in highly touted rising Senior Dayton Raiola ('26) who passed for close to 2000 yards in '24. The Wolves will be looking for new leaders in the backfield and at the receiver spot this Fall but their roster has no shortage of talent. [player_tooltip player_id='418495' first='Dylan' last='McCoy'] ('26) and [player_tooltip player_id='283918' first='Tyriq' last='Green'] ('26) look as if they could be a two headed monster next Fall touting the rock. On paper there is no real front runner for the WR1 spot. The Wolves graduate the majority of their production at that position but they did use a ton of young guys at times last Fall. Rising Senior Torre Costin is the most seasoned with 13 catches in '24. Solid defense returning with Bryce Perry-Wright, [player_tooltip player_id='1576103' first='Deion' last='Miller'], and the above mentioned [player_tooltip player_id='283918' first='Tyriq' last='Green'] , who had 5 INTs last year, slated to return.

(4) Douglas County Tigers

The Tigers gave eventual Champ Grayson a run for their money in the SF game last fall losing 35-28. Douglas Co returns who IMO is one of the most underrated dual threat QBs in the State. Rising senior [player_tooltip player_id='908934' first='DJ' last='Bordeaux'] ('26) accounted for over 3100 yards with 25 TDs last season and holds 20+ D1 offers. DC maybe the darkhorse in this Top 5 to capture the Title as they bring back a ton of talent around Bordeaux. [player_tooltip player_id='1201792' first='Zamarcus' last='Lindley'] returns for his Senior season after rushing for over 1300 yards. The Tigers have possibly one of the best all around WR groups returning in 6A. Rising Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='283774' first='Aaron' last='Gregory'], [player_tooltip player_id='401490' first='Devin' last='Carter'], and Rahkeith Kelly return after accounting for over 100 catches and 1800 yards combined. They will be solid on the defensive side with [player_tooltip player_id='682972' first='Jordan' last='Carter'], Soloman Fabian and [player_tooltip player_id='908936' first='Jamar' last='Owens'] returning. Definitely a team to watch.

(5) North Cobb Warriors

This is a very intriguing team with a lot of young talent. Are they maybe a year away or is '25 their season? North Cobb Christian transfer Teddy Jarrad ('27) will be competing this Spring for the QB1 role. Jarrad had a unbelievable season last Fall during NCC's playoff run and is one of the top QBs in the 2027 Class Statewide. A one two punch in the backfield with freshman sensation Zach Belyeu ('28) returning along with rising Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1637730' first='Arquevious' last='Echols'] ('26). The duo combined for 1900 yards and 27 TDs on the ground in '24. An experienced, mostly young, WR core returns for the new QB1. Leading receiver [player_tooltip player_id='283907' first='Steele' last='Ingram'] ('26), [player_tooltip player_id='1599249' first='Sebastian' last='Easley'] ('27), and rising Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1674772' first='Christian' last='Peacock'] ('28) all had double digit receptions in '24. Defense maybe the question mark. They graduate their leading tackler as well as a lot of experience in the secondary. If the Warriors can find some young guys to step up and perform in these roles they may compete for a Title sooner than later.
