Stillwater wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='492378' first='Deakon' last='Jones'] has been on a path to being the state's top wide receiver in the 2027 class since he was a freshman. On a loaded Stillwater offense, Jones earned very valuable playing time as a freshman. During his sophomore season, after the Pioneers were hit by graduation, that opened the door for Jones to become more of a playmaker within the offense and he answered the call. Jones is incredibly dynamic with the football in his hands and more importantly, he's been able to compete against some of the best players and continues to elevate his game. It hasn't mattered if it's during the season, during a team camp in the spring, during a 7v7 tournament in the offseason, Jones is routinely one of the best players that we watch when he's on the field. We can't wait to see if he elevates his game again this fall, similar to what we saw in 2024.

Salina wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='807020' first='Cooper' last='Hooker'] is a prospect on our shortlist for comeback players to watch in 2025. Now, it should be mentioned that Hooker was able to get back on the field earlier than anticipated in 2024 but he had what could have been a season-ending injury early on in the season. But when he's healthy, Hooker is one of the more dynamic small school wide receivers in the state. He proved that when he was just a freshman. He was incredibly dangerous on the offensive side of the ball and he also turned into a massive threat in the return game. We're looking forward to seeing what he's able to do with another full season of healthy football. Because every time we've seen him in person, he's routinely one of the top players in the state. Hooker is a game changer that is flying under the radar right now but shouldn't as we look ahead to this fall.

Sand Springs wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1530080' first='Dom' last='Forbes'] is on the very shortlist for the biggest breakout star from the 2024 football season. We've already written quite a bit about the ascension of Forbes last fall but just in case you missed it, here's the bullet points. Forbes was somewhat of an unknown by many across the state coming into the 2024 season. That didn't last long. Forbes emerged as the top target in the Sand Springs offense and he put up some of the best numbers from a wide receiver and he would earn All State honors because of it. And he did all of this as a sophomore, which makes him incredibly interesting to watch moving forward as a prospect. Forbes absolutely dominated, every time he stepped on the field. Even against the best competition, Forbes was able to produce at a high level. We think that Sand Springs will have one of the top passing attacks in the state once again this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1297670' first='Tristian' last='Birmingham'] is the second Sandite on this breakdown so needless to say, we have a high opinion of Sand Springs and specifically their offense moving forward. Birmingham is also a player that we wrote about recently after watching him go to work in our Oklahoma 7v7 tournament. Birmingham really impressed us then and you throw on the tape and you see a player that can absolutely take a game over. Now, because he played on the same offense with Forbes, a lot of the attention went to Forbes because of his production but that could certainly play into Birmingham's favor as we start preparing for the 2025 football season. It wouldn't be surprising to see Forbes getting much more attention defensively in 2025 and that should open things up for Birmingham. And even if that's not how it plays out, we think both of their production could be more even this fall.

Broken Arrow's [player_tooltip player_id='1530085' first='Zane' last='Matthews'] enjoyed a breakout season last fall, emerging as arguably the most reliable target in the Broken Arrow passing attack. And we've been on the record a few times in the last few months that we think 2025 will be very kind to Broken Arrow. We like the personnel they bring back and the Tigers could certainly jump up and return to contending in Class 6A-1. Matthews is a big reason why. The Tigers appear to be absolutely loaded on the offensive side of the ball. There is a wealth of experience and production. Earlier this month, we got a chance to see Matthews in person for the first time at our Oklahoma 7v7 tournament and he immediately passed the eye test. While watching him play for 918 Elite, it felt like he was the best player on the field. He has reliable hands, playmaking ability and is definitely a player on the rise moving forward.
