The 4th annual PRZ Sooner State Shootout took place in Broken Arrow this weekend and we had over 100 teams from this region competing on Saturday and Sunday. In the 18U division, we saw quite a few playmakers that grabbed everyone's attention. In this post, we're taking a look at six players from this division that fit that category and stood out in one way or another. We have more players featured in team-specific spotlights. You can check out all of our Sooner State Shootout coverage at this link. We'll have more highlights of these players and more up on our YouTube Channel later in the week!

[player_tooltip player_id='1833643' first='Ashton' last='Jones'] - 2027 Defensive Back - Arkansas Bomb Squad

It's not easy to stand out on the defensive side of the ball during these 7v7 tournaments. 2027 defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1833643' first='Ashton' last='Jones'] from the Arkansas Bomb Squad did just that. Specifically on Saturday, during pool play, it seemed like Jones was all over the field on the defensive side of the ball. Every time we watched him on defense, it looked like he was jumping passing lanes and coming up with interception after interception or at least disrupting the pass. Jones really impressed us as a safety that can come downhill in a hurry or play center field, read the quarterback and get where the ball is going to be in the blink of an eye.

[player_tooltip player_id='1164507' first='CJ' last='Wright'] - 2028 Athlete - CHJ Elite

Anytime we get a chance to see Lincoln Christian's 2028 standout [player_tooltip player_id='1164507' first='CJ' last='Wright'] in person, we're pumped about it. Wright was playing for CHJ Elite this weekend and he performed incredibly well on both sides of the ball. Simply put, Wright is one of the fastest athletes in just about every event he plays in. He has legit track speed and that was on full display in a couple of games on Saturday. Wright would take a quick pass and make defenders miss and simply outrun others into the open field. Defensively, he was patrolling the secondary at safety, using his speed to go from sideline to sideline. Wright is one of those athletes that is just fun to watch go to work.

[player_tooltip player_id='696152' first='Cole' last='Campbell'] - 2027 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - R-Air

2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2136434' first='Cole' last='Campbell'] has been a prospect that has stood out in our 7v7 tournaments in the past and he did it again this weekend. Playing with his Owasso teammates for the R-Air squad, Campbell was an absolute dog on both sides of the ball. While we've known him mainly for his abilities in the secondary, Campbell also turned around and made some big catches on the offensive side of the ball. Going back and looking at some of our video from the weekend, Campbell was making play after play. He was doing a great job being a disrupter on the defensive side of the ball while becoming an unquestioned playmaker on offense throughout the day.

[player_tooltip player_id='1398552' first='Darrick' last='Dunn'] - 2028 Athlete - AState Steelers

2028 standout [player_tooltip player_id='1398552' first='Darrick' last='Dunn'] from the AState Steelers grabbed our attention during pool play on Saturday. One of our guys thought Dunn was the best athlete they saw on their field Saturday and you see the production and can see why. Offensively, Dunn made spectacular plays look incredibly easy. Defensively, he was a terror for opposing quarterbacks. He had several pass break ups and his closing speed was definitely something that stood out to our staff. He knew how to get open and he caught the ball with his hands and didn't allow it to go into his body. Looking at our notes, we just kept writing "ATHLETE!" because there wasn't much he couldn't do.

[player_tooltip player_id='1587367' first='Prince' last='Goldsby'] - 2027 Edge/Linebacker - EMP1RE

It was awesome to have one of the premier defensive prospects in the country at the Sooner State Shootout this weekend. 2027 defensive terror [player_tooltip player_id='1587367' first='Prince' last='Goldsby'] was playing with EMP1RE this weekend and he was the most physically impressive athlete that we watched in person. Goldsby immediately grabs your attention with his size, patrolling the middle of the field on defense. And he can run with receivers, which at his size was terrifying for opposing offenses. We watched him for two games on Saturday and he was making some big time plays. He's being recruited by just about everyone and is going to be fun to watch moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='2136294' first='Nathaniel' last='Zay Bousquet'] - 2027 Wide Receiver/Linebacker - Springfield Saints

We had a few different cameras running around during the tournament and when we were going through all the clips, this player definitely kept standing out. 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2136294' first='Nathaniel' last='Zay Bousquet'] from the Springfield Saints was making play after play on the offensive side of the ball. We have him listed here as a wide receiver and a linebacker, although every clip we saw was him dominating on the offensive side of the ball. Then we looked into Bouquet as an athlete and he was one of the better linebackers in southwestern Missouri last season. We weren't expecting to see that. He's a 2027 athlete to keep an eye on this spring and summer.
