2028 Parkersburg WR [player_tooltip player_id='1077100' first='Brady' last='Thorn'] led the Big Reds in receiving as a freshman and totaled over 500 all-purpose yards and 5 touchdowns in year one at the high school level. Thorn is a well-developed route runner at this stage of his career and can execute the full route tree showcasing he can make plays at all three levels of the passing game on his freshman tape. He can stretch the field on go balls, deep posts, and corner routes but also does a nice job finding space in the intermediate game with screen potential. Thorn flashed reliable hands throughout his highlights with several catches in traffic and some over-the-shoulder catches in stride. He'll be a name to know for four years at one of the biggest schools in the state.

Capital has several 2028 receiver prospects to know but [player_tooltip player_id='1309676' first='Turay' last='Rush'] is ahead of the pack at this juncture and one of the best young receivers in the class right now. "Big Play 2Ray" is an accurate description of his freshman highlight tape with flashes of big-time playmaking ability shown throughout. Rush is a vertical threat who can consistently get behind the back end of defenses and force safety help over the top. However, Rush also proved that can be utilized in the intermediate passing game on curls, digs, and out routes to work the sticks as well. He's a fluid athlete with D1 bloodlines to monitor over the next three years as an early top receiver in the 2028 class.

2028 Nitro WR [player_tooltip player_id='1221847' first='Takye' last='Porter'] carved out a varsity role for himself as a freshman for the Wildcats and should increase his production each of the next three years. Porter posted over 500 all-purpose yards and 4 touchdowns in 2024 as a dynamic slot receiver and special teams returner. A bit undersized right now, but Porter flashed serious playmaking potential out of the slot and as a returner. He appears that he'll develop into a quick and twitchy slot which you see glimpses of in his freshman tape with a bright future ahead of him. Porter has a quick release and burst off the line and will be very difficult to cover 1-on-1 in man coverage doing a nice job of finding space. He's also very good at taking touch passes around the end with very good YAC ability and change of direction. Porter is right at the top of the early 2028 receivers at this stage and could develop into one of the more dynamic players in this class by his senior year.

We got a glimpse of 2028 Point Pleasant WR [player_tooltip player_id='1311020' first='Isaiah' last='Waminan'] as a freshman for the Big Blacks after an impressive middle school career. Waminan looks like a future slot receiver who can be versatile in how he's utilized in that alignment. In his limited tape, Waminan had production getting vertical, working the sticks, and being used on jet sweeps given his speed. He also had several standout defensive back reps on tape and showed potential on that side of the ball as well.

Unfortunately, Martinsburg's [player_tooltip player_id='1221849' first='Kason' last='Warden'] was injured for the year before he got going as a freshman but is a prospect to not forget about among the Bulldogs' loaded 2028 class. Warden was a standout middle school player for Musselman and had a lot of momentum heading into his freshman year before being setback from his injury. He's been working hard to come back and looks good from a physical standpoint on his way to a full recovery. We'll see how much he's progressed from his 8th-grade year this season and anticipate him making himself known again.

Still waiting for some Hudl tape of 2028 Herbert Hoover WR [player_tooltip player_id='1221550' first='Lance' last='Williams Jr'], but the freshman earned some playing time in year one at the high school level for the state runner-up Huskies. He's still filling out physically but has clear athletic ability that forced his way onto the field at the varsity level as a freshman. From the limited film we've gotten from Williams Jr, he's light on his feet and plays well in space with YAC playmaking potential. He had a strong showing at the recent PA Elite 7on7 tournament and should take a big step forward on Friday nights as a sophomore.

[player_tooltip player_id='1545676' first='Branden' last='Custer'] was a standout receiver for the University JV team this season and will be another talented young weapon for the Hawks to utilize on Fridays nights in the future. Custer gets a good jump off the line with a quick release and burst to accelerate to top speed. He also does a nice job of leveraging off coverage and was too athletic at the JV level for opposing defensive backs to make up the separation. Custer also showcased contested catch ability and strong hand-eye coordination to look the ball in on difficult catches. His play recognition was also apparent when adjusting his route to an improvising quarterback with developed route-running ability as well. We'll have to wait and see if if translates to the varsity level, but Custer's early flashes leave you excited for his future potential.

John Marshall has a few promising freshmen with the next one being 2028 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1624374' first='Tiler' last='Clemons']. Clemons caught our eye on the Monarchs' JV team this season as a long and lanky receiver who has a bright future as his body develops. He's a very raw athlete right now but you can see the potential of what he can develop into in a year or two if he puts in the work. No official measurements are available for him right now, but Clemons looks easily north of 6 feet with a frame that will take time to grow into. His length and athleticism are noteworthy as Clemons is a name to tuck away for later to see how he develops over the next 1-2 years.

[player_tooltip player_id='1624383' first='Demarion' last='Warren'] showed some good things as a freshman for the Musselman Applemen and got some varsity playing time. Warren has explosive athletic characteristics that he flashed in year one at the high school level that will translate to future success. He showed glimpses of natural playmaking ability and a gifted feel for what to do with the ball in his hands. Warren is quick and fast with change of direction and make you miss ability that makes him lethal in the open field. He has a great burst that also gives him return playmaking ability as well on special teams and should be a key piece to their offense beginning in 2025.

Another 2028 University WR prospect to know is [player_tooltip player_id='1624384' first='Sam' last='Wannemacher'] who was another weapon for their younger team that popped. He was a productive two-way player as a receiver and safety with a very good track & field background to utilize on the football field. Wannemacher showed good play recognition when his quarterback scrambled breaking off his route and finding space for him to find him. He has a natural feel for finding open field during his route and finding gaps in the defense. Wannemacher also has strong potential as a safety prospect and did a nice job playing center field on the back end of their defense resulting in 5 interceptions and 3 fumble recoveries with a knack for the ball.

He's a name to tuck away for later once more film becomes available and when he reaches the varsity level for the Bulldogs. Green appears to be long and athletic and played several different positions in his highlights with receiver potentially being his future spot. We'll learn more about Green's game in the future, but he's worth keeping tabs on until then.

Norman was primarily utilized in the screen game in the few games of highlights available of him but did have a long slot fade touchdown as well.
