RETURNING STANDOUT

Clay County’s passing game will revolve around 2028 WR/DB Joel Elliott again after a breakout sophomore campaign. Elliott was one of two receivers with more than 900 receiving yards and tied with 11 touchdowns, establishing himself as one of the top receivers in the 2028 class. He catches the football naturally, tracks the ball well downfield, and consistently finishes through contact, making him a reliable target in contested situations. Elliott also produced on the defensive side of the ball with 42 tackles and three interceptions, giving the Panthers another proven playmaker in the secondary. Expect him to remain the focal point of the passing attack and one of the top receivers to watch in Class AA this fall.

Elilott is likely to be a future stock riser in the rankings as his body develops and matures, as he has a head start in the other areas compared to most 2028 receivers in the state. He’s a gamer and has natural playmaking ability with impressive concentration for his age when bringing in passes. Elliott likely feels slighted by his current ranking and will have a great opportunity over the next three years to prove we have him too low.
