My 20 For 20

Last year I got the chance to see 20 unique high school football teams from across the state, so I decided at the end of the season to do an article highlighting a player from each team, and it was very well received. Well once again I find myself seeing another 20 unique teams again this season, so enjoy year 2 of my 20 For 20!    Kade was absolutely lights out in week 1. His motor never stopped, and he was creating a ton of havoc for the Cass Tech offense. His mix of power and speed off the ball made him nearly impossible to block consistently. He was a force off the edge in both the run game and rushing the passer. We have said it time and time again on this site, Kade needs D1 offers!     Canty was one of the most impressive players on the field. His size and presence is unbelievable, and he brings a ton of skill along with it. I watched him on multiple reps, and he showed incredible strength and technique. He stayed balanced, moved fairly well and was always able to counter when someone tried a move to get free. Canty is an all around superstar in the trenches.     I saw Abram in week 2 and came away the most impressed I have ever been with him. He was a nightmare for the Mason defense. Whether it was running deep go routes and using his athleticism to go up and get it, or running short routes and racking up YAC, Larner was able to do whatever he wanted that night. Grand Valley is getting a stud, and I have pretty high hopes for him and his DeWitt team heading into the post-season.     Cason looked the part despite their loss when I saw him. His poise in the pocked and his ability to read the defense was far beyond what I had even expected. He has made tons of improvements even over last season when I saw him last. Cason has a super strong arm and made a few throws that night that only a handful of high school quarterbacks can make. I am looking forward to where he can take this Mason team in the playoffs!     Nobody had an answer for Nolan when I watched him. He brings the energy and a ton of effort on every snap on both sides of the ball. Defensively, he did a great job of reacting to the plays in fromt of him and getting to his spot quickly and bringing some big hits. Offensively, Nolan consistently broke tackles and fell forward for extra yards and was able to churn first downs out all night. I am hoping to see him and his Unity Christian team again soon!     Ace had to be on this list, as he was a huge bright spot for FHE this season. He's a dominant player in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he is a well rounded lineman who has the power to blow defenders off the ball and take them completely out of the play. In passing sets, he has the leg strength to anchor down and hold serve against tough pass rushers. Along the defensive line, his strong legs let him stay in the hole and stop run plays in their tracks. I am super glad I got a chance to see him play in game this season!     Micah was the MVP of the night when I saw him against Muskegon. This dude is a legit deep threat with serious speed and great hands. Multiple times he was able to finish catches through a lot of contact and still hauled it in. He has a couple of offers, but nothing like what I'd expect! His performance is one I won't forget anytime soon and I hope I get to see this Mona Shores again this season!     This dude is an absolute mauler. N-Kye beat his defender up the entire night. He has the sheer strength and force to earn pancake after pancake. He showed rep after rep just why he is a highly touted D1 prospect. His technique is great, his strength is unmatched and his intensity is something to appreciate! Although Muskegon didn't make the postseason, I can't wait to see what he accomplishes at Rutgers and beyond!     Asher had a great night against PW. A true 2-way player, he was one of the most productive players on the field. At the receiver position, he was able to give his run heavy team an outlet to throw to and make the PW defense react. Defensively, he was able to come down and play in the box and be a force in the run game. As I said in my recap of the game, this kid would make a D3 school very happy as a utility player.     Trent was a huge standout when I saw PW play. He passes the eye test big time, and his play matched it. He's a big, physical player who played some fullback, some tight end and defensive end. PW relied on him offensively to block and clear the way for their potent run game, and did a great job of it. Defensively, he turned every outside run back inside and was able to rush the passer when the opportunity presented itself. Trent will be one to follow over the next year.     Brayden is a do-it-all player for Chesaning who was incredibly impressive when I saw him against Ovid Elsie. On top of being a physical linebacker, a downhill running back, he also hit a 57 yard field goal. This kid is an extremely special player with a ton of potential on any side of the ball you want! I look forward to seeing what he does at the next level.     Michael had an impressive catch that he turned into a 90+ yard touchdown. He displayed great hands all night and showed he could run a variety of routes. On top of running the routes, he showed a ton he can get it done after the catch. I really like his potential, and am looking forward to hopefully seeing him at some camps this summer so he can grab some offers!     Lukas is an all out baller. Offensively, Boman was carrying the ball and running angry and blasting through arm tackles. He had a nice mix of speed and power that gave the Ike defense fits on Friday night. Defensively, he was in on what seemed like every tackle. He is an instinctual defender who seemed to know where the play was going before the ball was snapped, and he brought the physicality with him. I have Clarkston going deep in the playoffs, so I will be keeping a close eye on him and his squad the rest of the season!     This was my first time seeing Mason play in person, and I came away impressed. On a night that was not going there way, Mason was running with great vision and high effort. He was finishing every run and was able to find some extra yardage, even when he was swarmed with defenders quickly. I will be interested to see what he can do at the next level, as I think he has some intangibles that will make him great!     Kadale is the easy choice for this one, as I watched him have 6 touchdowns in their win over Kalamazoo United. He is the perfect mix of speed, power, balance and acceleration that made him impossible to contain. Kadale has done nothing but impress for a couple of years now and on Saturday it seemed to all come together in a perfect storm. I predict this isn't the last I see of him this season.     Keegan really impressed me on Saturday, and this was the first time getting to see him in person. He was playing against a very good JLC team, and he was an impactful player that kept his team in it. He has the ability to play coverage deep against athletic receivers, or come downhill and play in the box and be a force in the run. I'll be looking forward to seeing him this offseason at some camps!     Jack was a pulling double duty on offense and defense, and was one of the more impressive performers of the day. Offensively he displayed a ton of patience and then a vision to hit the hole at the perfect time and accelerate into open field. Defensively, he was another in the box player who can shed blocks and make some big time tackles, including one at the goal line to help win the game for LHN. I was thoroughly impressed at his performance and am looking forward to seeing what else he can do this season.     Jimmy was outstanding when I watched him. First thing I noticed was his stamina. Jimmy was seemingly involved in every play and still not even a little tired it seemed. When running the ball, he kept his legs churning on contact and was able to grab some extra yardage, and when he got in open space, he was able to make guys miss. He's a headsy player who showed clear football IQ and the will to put his team on his back when he had to.     Dukes was a beast when I got to see him. He runs extremely hard, bounces off tackles and has a mean stiff arm. I liked his vision and ability to bounce to the next hole when one closed up. There were a few times where I thought for sure he was going to be swallowed up by the defense, just to see him bust through and drag some defenders with him. He was one of the best running backs I saw all year long.     Everyone probably knows how I feel about him by now, but Jaden is a special talent. A true 2 way player who was all over the place all game long. Defensively he was covering speedy receivers on deep routes, coming up and making plays in the run game and even took back a pick 6. Offensively he was taking handoffs and sweeps and even playing some QB. Jaden had probably the best day of anyone at the Prep Bowl in week 9 and Army is going to be getting a BEAST!
