Despite the loss in week 2, Cason played great that night and the rest of the season! Cason was putting balls in windows, manipulating the pocket and keeping his options open. His vision and ability to find targets under stress was one of the most impressive displays all season at the QB position. He’s a leader, he’s a great talent and has all of the intangibles you’d want from your gunslinger! Western Illinois is getting a special player next season.

- One of the best Quarterbacks in Michigan
- A few years ago was a super raw, D3-projected QB- worked his tail off to become a true Division 1 Prospect
- Great short-intermediate accuracy
- Excellent timing with his receivers
- Minimum turnover-worthy plays
- Needs to play lights-out against King

Cason continues to impress week after week. He’ll face a familiar opponent in Detroit King, who the Bulldogs have squared off against each of the last 3 seasons, making this 4th meeting with them extremely interesting. Cason will have to bring his best, stay calm in the pocket, get the ball to his playmakers quickly and with accuracy to pull off the win, but I have no doubt Cason can deliver on that. He has the arm and play making ability to take a game over when he has to. I am really looking forward to seeing how this game goes!

Every single time I’ve watched Cason in person, he’s improved. Seriously- in the maybe dozen times I’ve watched Cason in person, every single time, I’ve seen improvement.
This time around, I loved how Cason has improved his timing and mechanics. His mechanics still aren’t perfect, but they are consistent at the very least, and MUCH improved than in years past.
Cason has vastly improved his anticipation and overall connection with his receivers. I came away consistently impressed with Cason’s ability to hit a man just as he’s coming out of his break. Can’t wait to see what Cason accomplishes in College!

Cason looked the part despite their loss when I saw him. His poise in the pocked and his ability to read the defense was far beyond what I had even expected. He has made tons of improvements even over last season when I saw him last. Cason has a super strong arm and made a few throws that night that only a handful of high school quarterbacks can make. I am looking forward to where he can take this Mason team in the playoffs!

-Box score numbers won’t tell just how good he was
-Extremely accurate both in the pocket and throwing on the run
-Able to manipulate pocket and keep eyes downfield
-Despite drops, he was still hitting his receivers in great spots
-Can get it done on the ground when asked to, had multiple 1st down pick ups with his legs

You can click on Cason’s profile and scroll through the several times I’ve discussed him. Although I’ve talked about him a lot, it was impossible not to include him in this list.
Cason is a perfect example of hard work paying off. Over the past four years, Cason has grown from a D3-projected prospect with wonky fundamentals + inconsistent accuracy to a fringe D1 prospect with consistent fundamentals, much better throw power, and much more consistent accuracy. He’s also greatly improved is IQ, having picked apart several defenses last season on Mason’s road to the State Championship. I know that Cason is able to read a defense, make any throw, and compete at a high level. In college, Cason projects as a pure pro-style passer. This season, he’ll lead Mason as they need to replace several key positions.

Cason is another one of the most-covered prospects on this site. Early in his career, he was a promising raw QB with a ton of accuracy and fundamental issues. Quickly, he’s grown into an incredibly consistent QB with better fundamentals and good accuracy. Last season, he led Mason to a State Championship appearance. Recently, he’s received offers from Western Michigan and Western Illinois.
It’s all about trajectory for Cason. I’ll be honest and say that I don’t know if his current skills are D1 college level, but his trajectory is. The amount of work he’s put in to earn those offers is incredible. Namely, his accuracy has become consistent and his IQ is stellar for a high school QB. If he can further improve his anticipation, pocket presence, and accuracy, he can definitely develop into a starter in the MAC.

Cason is someone else who is due for a big rankings boost, and this Quarterback class in general is set for a few shakeups. Whenever I find something to nitpick about Cason’s game, he proves me wrong. Over the past three years, Cason has transformed himself from an average-at-best quarterback to receiving Division 1 offers. He started off by significantly improving his accuracy, then his IQ, and now, I’m seeing improvements with his fundamentals. On top of those improvements, Cason has led his team to one state championship appearance and two semifinal appearances. Cason is a certified winner who should continue to improve heading into his Senior season and beyond.

The 2024 Senior Class for Mason is incredible. Next season, I still expect Mason to be good, but not as good as they have been in these past few seasons. That’s where Cason comes into play. He’s got the accuracy, IQ, and patience to be a great college quarterback. His mechanics could use some work, but as I’ve heard a coach say, “It doesn’t matter. He’s still a star.”
Cason has undoubtably improved over the past few seasons. It may be difficult to fully showcase his improvements this fall with the young offense set to the field. That said, this offseason is extremely important for Cason. My gut still says he’s an eventual Division 3 Quarterback, and I’d be surprised if he doesn’t receive D3 offers this Summer.
