This is probably the last time I’ll have the opportunity to write about Ace, but I sure am glad I got a chance to cover him! Both offensively and defensively, Ace was a workhorse who has been working his tail off over the course of his career to get to where he’s at, and it paid off with his commitment to Ferris State!

Ace had to be on this list, as he was a huge bright spot for FHE this season. He’s a dominant player in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he is a well rounded lineman who has the power to blow defenders off the ball and take them completely out of the play. In passing sets, he has the leg strength to anchor down and hold serve against tough pass rushers. Along the defensive line, his strong legs let him stay in the hole and stop run plays in their tracks. I am super glad I got a chance to see him play in game this season!

Ace will undoubtedly see his biggest test so far this season in week 3 against a gritty Hudsonville Unity Christian squad. Ace is a test for Unity Christian in his own right. He does the little things right, is as versatile as they come for interior offensive linemen, and will be trying to help his team in a game that could have big implications on the D4 playoff bracket. Early lean tells me I will likely be making my way to this game, which has me pretty excited!

All signs point toward a dominant season from Ace. In wider terms, I’d hate to be a defensive coordinator who’s tasked with defending the Forest Hills Eastern run game. For a while now but especially this offseason, Ace has been incredibly hard at work. Training at Powerstrength, attending local camps, national camps, you name it- Ace has done it this offseason. Maybe most impressively, Ace is incredibly agile for his size. I’ve seen first-hand how he can go into his pass set and win against prospects who are faster, stronger, or more physically gifted on paper. Now, there are obvious limitations because of his measurables, which is a shame. Still, Ace has been one of the best run blockers in West MI for a while, and this offseason he’s proved he can also pass block. My gut still says his best fit will be at a program like Ferris State or Davenport where he currently holds offers. I’m incredibly confident that Ace will have a phenomenal season and I’m extremely interested to see where he ends up playing his college ball.

Ace puts some really good stuff on film. Playing a pretty tough schedule, he is tested weekly and typically comes out as the victor. He has a strong, wide base with the mobility not usually found in the trenches. He can blaze a path through the 2nd level with ease, and on passing reps, he anchors his strong legs and doesn’t get moved. When they try to beat him with speed, he has the agility to stay in front and not get beat wide. Overall, Ace is rising up boards all across the state and he is starting to see the fruits of his labor after receiving a Ferris State offer recently.
