As we begin the month of November, another regular season of high school football in the state of Kentucky has come and gone. With that being said, I wanted to acknowledge some of the top performers in each class before we head into the playoffs this weekend. Over the next week, I will be releasing my 2024 Regular Season All-State teams in each class. After already covering class 6A, I will now turn my attention to 5A, starting with the offensive side of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='283958' first='Cam' last='O'Hara'] has continued to establish himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the state, regardless of class. He finished the regular season as the 5A leader in passing, completing 143/221 passes for 2,354 yards, 34 touchdowns, and two interceptions in 10 games. O'Hara has a strong arm which he uses to stretch the field in the deep passing game. He has also shown the ability to escape pressure while keeping his eyes down the field to make throws on the run. Cam also finished the regular season with 38 carries for 113 yards and four touchdowns. O'Hara currently holds multiple Division I/Power 4 offers and I expect more to come his way as he is a high-caliber quarterback prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='401923' first='Markezz' last='Hightower'] is a player who has been high on my radar for a while now and has continued to stand out this season. In nine regular season games, Hightower ran the 169 ball times for 1,045 yards and 19 touchdowns. Markezz is a hard runner, showing the ability to keep his legs churning through contact while maintaining balance to break tackles without losing stride. He has also shown the speed to run away from the defense once he hits the open field. Hightower also finished the regular season with 10 receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown. Markezz doesn't currently hold any offers but he is definitely a player who college coaches should have their eyes on.

[player_tooltip player_id='212337' first='Trevy' last='Barber'] has continued to prove that he is one of the most talented players in the entire state this season. He finished the regular season as the leading receiver in 5A, catching 50 passes for 896 yards and 15 touchdowns in 10 games. Barber lines up mainly in the slot where he is a very skilled route runner, using quick breaks in his routes to create separation from opposing defensive backs with ease. He has also shown that he has the speed to pose as a threat in the deep passing game. Trevy currently holds offers from Gardner Webb, Troy, Eastern Kentucky, Austin Peay, and Miami (OH), and I expect more to come his way as he has received a lot of college interest and I truly believe he is a Power 4 caliber talent.

In 10 regular season games, Johnson caught 42 passes for 854 yards and 18 touchdowns. Isaiah is a very impressive route runner, using his quick release and smooth breaks in his routes to create separation with ease. He is also a dangerous deep threat on the outside, using his explosive speed to blow by opposing defensive backs. Isaiah currently holds offers from Indiana State, Army, Eastern Kentucky, and Thomas More, and I can see more coming his way as he is a Division I caliber wide receiver prospect.

He finished the regular season with 29 receptions for 671 yards and 11 touchdowns in 10 games. Harris is a dangerous deep threat, using his speed to run by opposing defensive backs with ease to create separation. He is also very impressive in the open field after the catch, showing the ability to use his speed and elusiveness to turn short passes/screens into big plays. Denmyer doesn't currently hold any offers but he is a player who college coaches should have their eyes on as he has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.

He has shown the versatility to play both tackle spots this season and has continued to dominate as a run blocker. Hull explodes out of his stance and does a great job of running his feet through contact to drive his man down the field. He has also shown the ability to get to the second level with a sense of urgency and pick up blocks in the open field. He plays with a ton of physicality, showing the ability to finish his blocks through the whistle, resulting in frequent pancake blocks. Justyn is also reliable in pass protection, showing the ability to mirror opposing pass rushers off the edge and protect his inside gap. Bell also does a great job of finishing his blocks through the whistle with a ton of physicality, resulting in pancake blocks. Merz also does a good job of getting into the second level quickly and picking up blocks in the open field. He is also reliable in pass protection, showing the ability to keep a strong base while absorbing contact, not allowing for much penetration into the pocket. Max is committed to Louisville where I can see him playing a key role on their offensive line once he gets there.
