This week is week 8 in the state of Michigan, and as the regular season draws to a close, there are some big time games! Let's speed run through a handful of games coming up this week that I will definitely have an eye on!

Belleville vs. Dearborn Fordson

While Belleville will still be the heavy favorite in this one, this game has the potential to be Belleville's toughest test yet. We haven't seen a close game for the Tigers since week 1 against Clarkston, but I think Fordson could present some challenges. Out wide, Fordson will have some good skill outside including WR [player_tooltip player_id='899443' first='Mstafa' last='Aljanaby']. Up front, guys like Murtadha Allabah and Eeesa Mohamed will look to control the line of scrimmage and give the offensive plays time to develop. The biggest challenge will be for Fordson to try and stop [player_tooltip player_id='247690' first='Bryce' last='Underwood'], [player_tooltip player_id='603743' first='Elijah' last='Dotson'], Tre Britton III and the rest of this incredibly potent offense.

Byron Center vs. Muskegon

You have to think this is a must have it game for Muskegon. Sitting just outside of the playoffs with 2 games to go, this would be a huge win to vault them into the playoffs. Byron Center will pose a big time threat, with guys like [player_tooltip player_id='899559' first='Landon' last='Tungate'] and [player_tooltip player_id='602273' first='Isaac' last='Lee'] threatening to score at any time. The last couple of weeks, it seems like QB [player_tooltip player_id='247694' first='James' last='Young'] and the Muskegon offense have figured it out against some inferior competition, so it will be interesting to see if they can translate that to the game this week!

Detroit King vs. Cass Tech

These 2 will be squaring off for the 2nd time in 5 weeks, this time for the PSL Championship. King got the better of the Technicians in overtime about a month ago, and I suspect this game will be just as intense. The defensive presence of guys like [player_tooltip player_id='600132' first='Xavier' last='Newsom'] will be tough for the Cass Tech squad to handle. Cass Tech will have to utilize their speed with [player_tooltip player_id='329420' first='Alex' last='Graham'] and [player_tooltip player_id='212358' first='Corey' last='Sadler'] and play good defense once again to come away with this one.

Freeland vs. Frankenmuth

This game has been dominated by Frankenmuth recently, so you know Freeland is looking for a big time win. They will have to go through [player_tooltip player_id='568197' first='Lleyton' last='Hoard'] and the Frankenmuth offense that has averaged around 45 points per game, while only giving up 53 points all season long. All eyes on defense will be on Michigan State commit Derrick Simmons, who is an absolutely dominant force in the trenches for Frankenmuth. I think this game could have a lot of points scored, and I will definitely be curious to see what Freeland's game plan is to finally get in the win column against their rivals.

Other Notable Games:

Mason vs. Walled Lake Western

Grosse Pointe South vs. Anchor Bay

Parma Western vs. Haslett

St. Johns vs. Ionia
