Alex is someone I wish I had watched more in person. All in all, I was only able to get in front of Alex one time- the 2024 State Championship.
Well, Alex did enough there for me to be confident in ranking him #2. Starting out, Alex is the most well-built DB I’ve ever seen. He’s got the height that just about every college is looking for now while also being extremely muscular. A+ size. Plus, he’s damn good at football. Defensively, Alex tackles in space better than some division 1-committed outside linebackers. Once he diagnoses the play, Alex is able to explode toward the ballcarrier and lay a good, fundamentally-sound tackle. Defending the pass, Alex is a better zone DB than he is man. Playing zone coverage, Alex does a great job reading the QBs eyes, recognizing where the receivers around him are, and he’s able to break on the ball so incredibly quickly. Sometimes Alex makes the read a tad slowly, but it doesn’t matter with how explosive he is.
He’s also just as good offensively. I watched Alex absolutely embarrass a very good defense. His all-around open-field elusiveness is amongst the best I’ve seen. Plus, he has the strength to break most arm tackles.
Quick on his personality- Alex seemed very close with some of his teammates and kept a very positive, relaxed attitude throughout the State Championship. With how Cass Tech was playing, that is no surprise. I wish I had watched Alex during a closer game to view what he’s like in a close game, so my character evaluation is definitely incomplete.
Does he start day 1 at USC? I can’t answer that, but I am extremely confident that he’ll develop into a sensational college football player, and maybe a successful NFL player.

After seeing him twice now, I can confidently say this is one of the best DBs in the entire country. He’s built solid and can switch between corner and safety with ease. He’s built incredibly solid and has the speed and agility to pair with it to make him an incredibly versatile and gifted defensive back. Alex is extremely physical in the run game, commonly coming downhill and laying some big shots from the safety position. At corner, he is solid in man coverage and has the change of direction and physicality to wipe a receiver out of the gameplan USC is getting a true do-it-all athlete.

I’m a big believer in

‘s upside. He’s spent time playing against the best-of-the-best at IMG, and he’s back at Cass Tech chasing a State Championship.
Catholic Central’s offense has been near-unbeatable, even against elite defenses. They’re balanced with run and pass, and Alex needs to defend both phases excellently.
I’m not worried about Alex’s ability to defend the pass. When given an opportunity, Alex will force turnovers via interceptions. Zone coverage, man to man, you name it- Alex is one of if not the best DB in Michigan. I honestly hope CC challenges him.
I truly believe if Cass Tech is going to win, Alex needs to be extremely reactive to the run game. That means working downhill, wrapping up, and maybe making a few TD-saving plays.

This is exactly what Alex came back to Cass Tech for. I know Alex wants to get back and get a state title out of this season so badly. He’ll have the opportunity to get to Ford Field this week against a Detroit Catholic Central team that just took out Belleville. Alex is a force on the outside, typically blowing up screens, outside runs and can defend the pass deep. He’s incredibly athletic and will be put to the test against a team that will likely not shy away from him or the rest of the high caliber talent on Cass Tech.

may be the best of the bunch.
Speaking on his DB play, I’ve seen few DBs with better instincts. Dakota doesn’t throw the ball downfield too much, but if they do, Alex will be there to defend it.
Otherwise, Alex is a capable screen / outside run defender. He’ll have plenty of those opportunities against a team that attempts to push it outside to their playmakers a fair amount.
Offensively, Alex has really come on this year. Last week against Dearborn, he took a simple (5-yard hitch?) route to the house, breaking several tackles.
If Cass Tech defeats Dakota and DCC defeats Belleville, I will highly consider attending Cass vs. DCC.

I should have added Alex back during the last update. If you’re unfamiliar, Alex spent some time at IMG Academy in Florida before transferring back to Cass Tech. He’s a Power 4 prospect with incredible instincts. He can play anywhere in the defensive backfield and has the instincts + athleticism needed to succeed at an extremely high level.
I’ve heard so much of Alex, yet I’ve never watched him in person. If the stars align, I’ll be able to watch Alex this postseason. If Cass Tech makes it to Ford Field… I’ll 100% have an eye on Alex!
