<p><strong>1. Lewis Central (3-0) – </strong>Visiting ADM put a scare in Titans before the defending state champs escaped with a 30-27 victory Friday night. Leonardo Tatum caught three passes for 59 yards and a TD, and intercepted a pass on defense. <p><strong>2. North Scott (3-0) – </strong>The Lancers started 2024 with a pair of road wins before dominating rival Assumption, 35-0, in Friday's home-opener. QB [player_tooltip player_id='690937' first='Thanaphat' last='Chase Smith'] tossed three touchdown passes and ran for one. He carried seven times for 128 yards. <p><strong>3. Gilbert (3-0) – </strong>Following a pair of road wins, the Tigers opened their home season Friday with a 42-22 win against Mason City. [player_tooltip player_id='252314' first='Will' last='Hawthorne'], an Iowa State pledge, continued his torrid start to this season. Through three games, he's carried 86 times for 758 yards (8.8 YPC) and 12 touchdowns and accounted for 285 of Gilbert's 422 yards in this one. He added a sack on defense as did Holden Boshart. <p><strong>4. North Polk (3-0) – </strong>With 124 points in just three games, the Comets are lightning up the scoreboard. They also remained on the winning side of it with a 41-8 victory against visiting Webster City on Friday. QB Colin Kerndt threw for 141 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions and ran for 97 yards with an end-zone trip in the victory. <p><strong>6. Western Dubuque (2-1) – </strong>Not many teams in any class have faced a schedule as difficult as the Bobcats. They rebounded from a loss to Wahlert in Week 2 to trip up visiting Xavier, 21-17, on Friday. It took a team effort with [player_tooltip player_id='1279823' first='Tanner' last='Anderson'], [player_tooltip player_id='1282223' first='Drew' last='Burds'], [player_tooltip player_id='1621113' first='Drew' last='Bergfeld'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1619904' first='Bradley' last='Brosius'] delivering plays on offense. <p><strong>7.</strong> <strong>Cedar Rapids Xavier (2-1) – </strong>The voyage to Epworth on Friday did not go well for the Saints, who lost 21-17 against Western Dubuque. Backup QB [player_tooltip player_id='1315992' first='Cohen' last='Honkomp'] stepped in for injured starter, [player_tooltip player_id='1827747' first='Cash' last='Parks'], and threw for 258 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Jake Pontier rushed 34 times for 162 yards and a touchdown in the setback.
