Expert Analysis
Rob Howe | Prep Redzone Scout
Morio impressed me with his play during a state semifinal victory against Newton. He’s a good athlete, as evidenced by him being committed to the University of Iowa baseball team, and it propels him on the football field. Morio combines that sideline-to-sideline explosiveness with straight-line speed and physicality. He does well in diagnosing plays, getting downhill in a hurry and arriving at ball with thump, as we can see when watching his junior highlight on his Hudl page. Morio was a main component in a Saint defense that helped the team win the Class 4A state championship in 2025. He racked up 69.0 tackles, 35.0 of which were solo stops. Morio produced 12.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks. He also picked off a pass and was credited with a pass defended.

Last season, Morio established himself as a sophomore on the varsity within one of the state’s top programs. He’s lifted his level of play up even more in 2025. Morio led the Saints in tackles and ranked second in solo stops through the first six games. His exploits on the gridiron led to a game-day visit to Iowa, where he’s committed as a baseball prospect. There’s a lot to like when watching his football highlights. Morio plays fast and physical. To say he gets downhill in a hurry would be an understatement. Morio does well in diagnosing what he sees pre-snap and reacting quickly once the play is underway.
