The first iteration of the Class of 2028 Rankings has dropped! We have a solid top 10, and nearly all 10 of these players are expected to play vital roles on Varsity this season. So, without further ado, here are my thoughts on the initial Top 10 players in Michigan's class of 2028!

Coming in at #1 in the Rankings is Cass Tech Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1111167' first='Donald' last='Tabron II'].

There's plenty of reason to believe that Donald will remain a top-3 Michigan prospect throughout his high school career. First off, Donald already holds offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Maryland, and several others. Doland has had an incredible pre-high school career which was greatly covered by Prep Redzone Next.

In short, Donald is already a highly polished Quarterback. His footwork and overall arm talent are already better than the vast majority of Senior QBs. In addition, I like how Donald scans the field and goes through his progressions. On paper, this is a Dante Moore / [player_tooltip player_id='247690' first='Bryce' last='Underwood'] type of Quarterback. Donald has a ton of natural talent and already has a great understanding of reading a defense. Frankly, I expect him to have an excellent High School Debut at Rockford next Thursday Night.

There is an excellent case to be made for [player_tooltip player_id='1167239' first='Deandre' last='Bidden'] at #1.

Joining an already stacked Harper Woods offense, Deandre holds offers from Michigan, Alabama, Michigan State, Auburn, and several others. Needless to say, Deandre will likely be able to play for any college program that he wants. Before then, he'll have to live up to expectations in High School.

Deandre projects as a phenomenal deep threat. He'll probably play on the outside at Harper Woods, but I also love his potential in the slot. If Deandre bulks up, he could turn into a great physical receiver like AJ Brown. All in all, Deandre is a moldable ball of clay who can excel in just about any area. His current athletic profile makes him a nightmare against man coverage, and I hope to further witness his route running in the short-intermediate areas of the field.

I have extremely high expectations for [player_tooltip player_id='212645' first='Grayson' last='Thurston']. Although he doesn't have any offers just yet, I fully expect Grayson to grow into a B1G 10 / SEC prospect over the coming years.

Back in April, Grayson performed incredibly well at our Prep Redzone Combine Series. In regard to testing, Grayson had the #1 40 time of all QBs in attendance while being well above average in all other categories except for Broad Jump. Regarding his passing, I was extremely impressed with Grayson's throw power and accuracy throughout camp. He didn't come away with QB MVP, but he was very close.

Grayson still needs to improve his consistency when it comes to accuracy, and it never hurts to continually watch film and bolster that IQ. Grayson will not start this season for the Pilots, but I fully expect Grayson to take the reins for De La Salle during the 2025 season.

Our scouts over at Prep Redzone Next have been incredibly high on [player_tooltip player_id='528080' first='Deondre' last='Hill'] for a long time. Spoiler alert: I am too

He had a VERY productive pre-high school career, sporting extremely high honors even as a 7th grader. He's best described as a pure sideline-to-sideline physical linebacker. Prep Redzone Next has compared him to Micah Parsons, but I think he's a bit more comparable to Devin Bush when he played at Michigan (but much taller than Bush).

I fully expect Deondre to quickly make his name known on Varsity. I also fully expect him to be a prime B1G 10 / SEC prospect.

I am incredibly interested in how AJ continues to develop throughout high school. Although 6'2" is small for a tight end, he's projected to grow at least a couple more inches. As long as AJ grows to be at least 6'4", he'll develop into a sensational Tight End.

I agree with much of what Prep Redzone Next has said about AJ. He isn't the most polished athlete yet, but he has many incredibly promising traits. Above all, AJ is a physical football player. Making contested catches is one of the most important skills of any tight end, and AJ is way ahead of the curve in that area.

AJ is one of the more raw prospects in our top 10, but he has one of the highest upsides of anybody. If he continues to grow, he'll have the size and potential to be one of the best Tight Ends in the country. Even if he doesn't grow, AJ can still be a PHENOMENAL physical outside receiver.

Already holding offers from Central Michigan and Memphis, [player_tooltip player_id='977460' first='Tyler' last='Trusel'] is an extremely high-upside outside receiver.

Looking at Tyler's frame, I love the idea of him being a deep threat (like DeVonta Smith) or a physical receiver (like AJ Brown or DK Metcalf). Whether Tyler decides to bulk up or not, he's trending toward being a Power 4 prospect.

Right now, I'm not blown away by any aspect of his game, but there is a lot of promise. First off, Tyler is an OK route-runner. There is currently a lot of wasted movement in all comeback routes, but I can at least tell he has a decent understanding of the route tree. Athletically, his straight-line speed is great. Physically, Tyler is able to win jump balls and has the length to grow into a phenomenal outside receiver. I trust the new staff at Brother Rice, and I hope to see Tyler improve significantly in the next 12 months!

Jayden is another very high-upside freshman at Brother Rice. From what I know about their roster, Jayden could very easily earn a ton of playing time this season. What position will he play? That I do not know.

Jayden's Twitter mostly consists of highlights as a Wide Receiver and a few clips from track season. Also on his Twitter, he describes himself as a DE/ATH. If he ends up playing defensive end, I'm incredibly interested to see how he fares in the ever-difficult catholic league. At receiver, I love Jayden's all-around athleticism and I think he could contribute right away. Considering Jayden's size alongside athletic profile, he's ranked #7 in the Class of 2028.

That's right- there are FOUR Brother Rice freshmen in our Class of 2028 Top 10.

Jerrimiah has just as high of a ceiling as anyone in this class. I'm already incredibly impressed with his straight-line speed, overall athleticism, and frame. There are several clips floating around Twitter of Jerrimiah burning DBs on deep routes and even a few of him using his length to win jump balls. I don't think he's the most polished route-runner when it comes to many short-intermediate routes, but he has plenty of time to grow in that area.

I fully expect Jerrimiah to contribute this season, and I fully expect him to develop into a Power 4 prospect.

Our third and final Quarterback in this edition of the 2028 Rankings is Divine Child's [player_tooltip player_id='944415' first='Drew' last='Sheridan'].

Right now, I love Drew's arm talent. Time after time, I've seen Drew launch the ball downfield with solid accuracy. I also like his footwork and overall fundamentals, though these areas still need a good bit of polish. There's no doubt that Drew needs to work on his overall consistency. However, I expect to see significant improvements over the next year after Drew has a full Varsity season under his belt in addition to another full offseason of training. I feel that Drew is an above-average quarterback right now, but he has an incredible opportunity to develop into an excellent Quarterback who can earn Division 1 offers.

Last on our initial rankings is Belleville athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1398333' first='Khalil' last='Woods'].

Belleville is obviously stacked with talent, and it may be very difficult for Khalil to stand out this season. From what I've seen of Khalil, he's a very high-upside slot wide receiver. Although he's undersized, Khalil makes up for it with lightning-fast feet and frankly superior route-running when compared to many in these rankings.

Again, it may be a bit until we see Khalil play on Friday nights, but as long as he stays on course, there's no reason why he can't be a future Division 1 prospect.
