One of the most impressive athletes in attendance on Sunday, Tyler did exactly what I expected. His route running was detailed and clean, and when the ball came his way, he made some spectacular grabs. His speed and size make him a mismatch on the outside, and his physicality allows him to muscle his way through his route and grab contested balls. Already offered by quite a few top programs, his stock continues to soar.

An extremely competitive receiver who is on track to keep up his top-20 Michigan ranking through the coming years.
Tyler has hands-down the best measurables of anyone in this article. 6’2″, long limbs, and athletic. Good straight-line speed, and able to easily burn some of the worst DBs on Brother Rice’s schedule. In the Catholic League, he’s earned a ton of reps against some of the best programs in the midwest- which is a big plus.
This season, Tyler has improved his hands, and he’s improved his abilities in open space. Efficient player on screens, hitches, short outs, etc. Better when it comes to contact balance, too.
This offseason, Tyler should take another step forward. I know he’s a competitive player, and I think that passion for football will take him far.

Biggest game of Tyler’s young career tomorrow night!
It’s an exciting time. Throughout this season, Tyler has solidified himself as WR1 for Brother Rice, and he’s diversified his route tree quite a bit. Last offseason, I thought he was mostly a physical downfield target. This season, he’s found success in screens, quick outs, comebacks, etc. He’s improved tremendously after the catch, as Tyler is commonly able to slip through arm tackles and catch a seam in the open field. Even when the defense locks him up, Tyler is still usually able to grind out an extra yard or two.
Tomorrow against St. Mary’s Tyler should earn a good number of targets. A must-watch!

As competitive as they come. Plus, he passes the eye test. 6’2″ is accurate, has long arms, and seems to be filling out his frame well.
As expected, most of Tyler’s snaps came at X receiver. He was consistently the #1 target, earning a good number of touches in the quick game. A few catches on speed outs, which usually ended with a minimal gain. Also ran a few comebacks, and one nice double-move go. All in all, I like Tyler’s burst and attention to detail on his routes. Not always picture-perfect, but he does the little things much better than most WRs.
Not a ton of blocking opportunities, and zero explosive plays for Tyler today. All-around, it was a difficult day for the offense.
Tyler also earned a handful of reps at DB. He did his job, but it’s obvious that it’s not his primary position.
Lastly, Tyler is very competitive. He was fully invested in the game and cared deeply about his and his team’s performance. A bit emotional at times- but I view that as a good thing as long as it’s not toxic.

Turn on Tyler’s tape and you’ll immediately see some 50/50 wins. Another dude with ideal size, and far above-average body control.
Tyler’s been doing this for a while. He was on Prep Redzone Next’s radar for quite a while before being featured here. I think Tyler is progressing nicely as an X receiver, and with a couple of departures and additions, I believe this current Brother Rice roster sets Tyler up to start at X.
Great possession receiver- some Larry Fitzgerald in his game.

. Tyler is a physical receiver who is good at making catches in traffic. Though, I’d love to see better separation and overall play speed. Love Tyler’s physicality, love the catch in traffic, but definitely need to see more when it comes to speed and change of direction. Still, enough upside to be a Division 1 prospect.

Through four weeks, Tyler already has great tape. Here are my quick thoughts.
- Great concentration, hands, and body control
- Good release
- Solid routes- should focus on change of direction and footwork this offseason
- Very good possession target
- Tracks as an elite physical or deep threat
- I hope to see Tyler perform next Spring!

This is my first time watching Tyler’s tape after ranking him in the top 10 of the Class of 2028.
First, let’s discuss his offensive tape. It’s immediately obvious the role Tyler plays within this offense. He’s most commonly lined up as the X receiver on his own side of the field. Ideally, Brother Rice wants to put him on an island with a DB. His first highlight shows some of that potential as Tyler secures the well-thrown back-shoulder fade. In addition, the highlight at 0:37 showcases a pretty explosive slant route, and a nice grab in traffic.
Defensively, Tyler has one phenomenal PBU at 0:14. Other than that, he’s got a few good tackles but nothing else for the time being.
I have no doubt that Tyler will continue to improve throughout this season. The Catholic League houses some of the best competition in the state, and to be the best, you have to go against the best. Namely, if Tyler can focus on improving his top speed and overall explosiveness, then it’s all over.

is an extremely high-upside outside receiver.
Looking at Tyler’s frame, I love the idea of him being a deep threat (like DeVonta Smith) or a physical receiver (like AJ Brown or DK Metcalf). Whether Tyler decides to bulk up or not, he’s trending toward being a Power 4 prospect.
Right now, I’m not blown away by any aspect of his game, but there is a lot of promise. First off, Tyler is an OK route-runner. There is currently a lot of wasted movement in all comeback routes, but I can at least tell he has a decent understanding of the route tree. Athletically, his straight-line speed is great. Physically, Tyler is able to win jump balls and has the length to grow into a phenomenal outside receiver. I trust the new staff at Brother Rice, and I hope to see Tyler improve significantly in the next 12 months!

A 2028 wideout heading to Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Tyler Trusel already measures in at 6’2, 170 lbs. and holds two FBS offers going into his high school campaign. Central Michigan offered this spring, and the Memphis Tigers added their name to the mix in mid-June. Trusel is smooth and sudden when breaking off his routes, has an excellent frame with length and significant room to fill in, strong hands that can reel in receptions away from his body, and can make catches in traffic. He already looks comfortable and effective against high school, varsity competition, and has the frame, athleticism, and confidence to find success as a freshman against some of the best competition Michigan has to offer. We’ll be hearing a ton about Trusel the next few seasons and beyond.
