I like Elam’s development so far this season. Last week, there’s no doubt Elem learned a ton after Brother Rice faced off against what was probably the best interior O-Line they’ll ever face.
Even early in his sophomore season, Elem showed promise.
A ton of highlights against a great Dakota squad. Kicking off Elem’s tape, he does an excellent job anchoring against the down block, and forcing his way to the running back. Textbook stuff, showing good power and IQ. At 1:03, Elem initially gets pushed back, but he’s able to recover and earn the goalline stop. Finally, at 1:23. Elem perfectly counters the attempted down block, shoots the A gap, and meets the RB at the line of scrimmage.
I already see a ton of promise for Elem as a DT. He’s already looking well-coached and physical. With another great offseason, Elem is surely on track to eventually play for a D1 college.

A very traits-heavy defensive lineman. A ton of upside, and a ton of work this offseason that should pay off this season.
Last season, Elem showed a lot of traits. Good quickness, fast hands, and an ability to quickly get into the backfield and blow up plays. Colleges are beginning to take notice. High likelihood that Elem breaks out this season, and continues to make significant improvements every offseason.

An incoming sophomore defensive lineman who flashed good traits during his freshman season.
I’d first like to point out the play at 0:13. A solid getoff and good attempt at a swim move to get around the slower tackle. It looks like Kelaien may be getting held, but he just anchors down and powers inside to get in on the TFL. Then, 0:28 shows good instincts from the EDGE. Kelaien over-pursues a little bit, but has just enough length to punch the ball out and force a turnover. Amazing heads-up play to punch that football out.
Tape shows good physicality and flashes of great instincts. That’s really all I want to see from a freshman tape. Amazing foundation, and a great college prospect if he keeps on improving.
