I just chatted about Drake the other day, but I have to highlight his performance a bit more. Drake has taken over the offense with immense confidence, and it radiates among the entire team. Martin has legit breakaway speed and can make tacklers miss in the open field. On designed runs, he does a great job of being patient and waiting for the blocks to develop before exploiting the crease. On top of that, he already has a solid foundation as a passer, but that will come with more reps. With the weapons he has, he has been really efficient and hasn’t had to force the ball much. Great start to the season with big things on the horizon.

I knew about Drake’s talent, but I underestimated the level of poise and maturity he would bring to the Rice offense against a solid DLS defense.
All night long, he looked in control. Making the right reads, getting it done with his legs and making the big throws when necessary. He wasn’t forcing it or being too timid. Just complete maturity.
Super impressive day from Martin, who is already earning a bump in stock and will likely continue to rise our 2029 board! Rice is in good hands as long as he continues to fill in due to injury.

While he isn’t QB1 at Brother Rice quite yet, there is a ton of optimism about what Martin brings to the table, and what he could develop into. There are a few passes that he put on film in 2025 that will wow you. He has no issue stepping into throws, even under pressure, and delivering precise darts with good velocity. He hits out routes well, he can hit a hole shot, or can just flat out stretch a defense with a big bomb over top. On top of that, he moves well and understands how to buy time or just burn the defense for some explosive plays. He’s in a program that is now building in the right direction, so it will be fun to see how he fares once he takes over.

- Has earned high praise at QB, though was previously very undersized
- The more Drake grows, the more upside at QB.
- Mechanics are coming along. Needs more consistency in all areas mechanically. Will come with age.
- Above-average accuracy & good zip for a Freshman QB
- Opportunity to develop and compete with one of the best young rosters in Michigan
- Experienced 7on7 player. Hopefully this translates to Friday Nights
