AJ possesses some of the stickiest hands in the state of Michigan. It seems like everything thrown his way is a catch, regardless of coverage/throw. His body control and change of direction is exceptional, and his concentration on contested catches is remarkable. I had just watched his tape a few days before this event, and I loved it. I’m glad what I saw in person matched up to what he put on film this season. AJ is a mismatch for most defenders, and when he is asked to block, sometimes he’s an even bigger mismatch. Once he locks on, he finishes his blocks. Great day from AJ, I am looking forward to watching his development!

Huge upside for AJ. I said this already pretty recently, but I consider AJ more of a WR than TE mostly because of his height. If he’s still able to grow to 6’4″- 6’5″, TE is definitely in play. If he’s 6’2″-6’3″, I’d say WR is the best offensive fit.
AJs tape shows that he’s a dang good high school TE. Although he’s a little undersized for the position, he’s able to get his nose dirty and block larger D-Linemen. Plus, there’s a couple of good downfield blocks. As a receiver, there isn’t much tape. Not much tape in general of AJ securing receptions. Still, I like the athlete, love the physicality, and he should still be on his way to D1 college football.

I am incredibly interested in how AJ continues to develop throughout high school. Although 6’2″ is small for a tight end, he’s projected to grow at least a couple more inches. As long as AJ grows to be at least 6’4″, he’ll develop into a sensational Tight End.
I agree with much of what Prep Redzone Next has said about AJ. He isn’t the most polished athlete yet, but he has many incredibly promising traits. Above all, AJ is a physical football player. Making contested catches is one of the most important skills of any tight end, and AJ is way ahead of the curve in that area.
AJ is one of the more raw prospects in our top 10, but he has one of the highest upsides of anybody. If he continues to grow, he’ll have the size and potential to be one of the best Tight Ends in the country. Even if he doesn’t grow, AJ can still be a PHENOMENAL physical outside receiver.

– Up to a legitimate 6-foot-2 and 160 pounds, Henley has really started to stretch out and is starting to look like he’ll be every bit of the 6-foot-5 his dad stands
– At this point he’s not the fastest or smoothest route runner, but the bottom line is that he produces. He’s running track an his straight-line speed is certainly improving based off recent clips. Does a good job of getting open and fighting through arms to make catches in traffic
– Right now the biggest threat Henley poses is in the redzone. He’s not afraid to go over the middle, nor is he scared to box defenders out in the back corner. He’s especially tough to defend in man coverage when he runs drags or in-routes close to the goal line because of his length
