With the WR/DB group seeing reps at both positions we will combine them for our Best of the Rest article! Here are the Best of the Rest of the receivers and defensive backs at the PRZ WV Combine!
WR/DB BEST OF THE REST
Jack White
Jack White
An out-of-state receiver who flashed during the PRZ WV Combine was 2025 North Catholic (PA) WR/DB Jack White. White had the best overall testing numbers during the event and showed off his high-level athleticism throughout the rest of the camp as well. He had the best 40 time of the day with a blazing 4.5 along with very quick pro shuttle and L Drill times of 4.16 and 7.13 seconds. Those athletic traits translated to 1-on-1s where he was deserving pf being mentioned with the Top Performers selected by the college coaches in attendance.
White has a quick release off the line and can create consistent separation due to his speed and quickness. He also showed quality route running ability and should be ready to break out during his senior season this fall.
2026 Doddridge County WR Landon Thomas Landon Thomas 6’2″ | 185 lbs | WR Doddridge County | 2026 State WV is also worth being mentioned at the top of the best of the rest of the receivers at the Combine. Thomas ranks as a Top 10 WR in the 2026 class and backed that high ranking up during the event. We were able to confirm his 6’2 185 size, and Thomas uses it to his advantage very well. The big-bodied receiver is a tough matchup in 1-on-1s and can shield off defensive backs well and extend over them. Thomas is a quality route runner for his age and size and will continue to make strides in his straight-line speed and overall athleticism over the next two years.
Thomas built on the strong freshman season he had for the Bulldogs and led the team in receiving with 519 yards and 7 touchdowns as a sophomore who will only continue to get better over time.

Another young Huntington Highlander who we liked a lot coming into the Combine and was able to show us why was 2027 WR/DB Andreas Reese Andreas Reese 5’6″ | 145 lbs | ATH Huntington | 2027 WV . We thought of him as a running back prospect before the event, but Reese worked out as a receiver and defensive back and looked like a natural at those spots. While he’s undersized right now as a freshman, Reese tested very well for his age with a 4.7 40, 4.5 pro shuttle, and a 7.41 L Drill in wet conditions that will only improve the older he gets. He’s a natural playmaker regardless of which position he lines up at and made plays during 1-on-1s on both sides of the ball.
The best of Andreas Reese Andreas Reese 5’6″ | 145 lbs | ATH Huntington | 2027 WV will come down the road, but the early signs he’s shown to this point make you excited about his future.
Highlights
Washington 2025 WR/DB Terry Rea III Terry Rea III 5’10” | 150 lbs | DB Washington | 2025 WV was a largely unknown prospect to us heading into the Combine due to the lack of film available, but he showed why he shouldn’t be overlooked during the event. Rea tested well in tough weather conditions with a 4.7 40, 4.38 pro shuttle, and a very quick 7.35 L Drill time. You could tell that he’s a natural athlete who is a tough cover in 1-on-1 man coverage for high school defensive backs. Rea has the versatility to be a strong DB as well and flashed at both spots during the camp.
We’ll have a better evaluation of Rea once he posts some more season film, but the coach’s son is an under-the-radar 2025 prospect that deserves more attention heading into his senior year.
2025 Hedgesville WR Gavin Young Gavin Young 5’9″ | 145 lbs | WR Hedgesville | 2025 State WV was a highly touted prospect by us coming into the Combine, and he showed us why throughout the camp. Young is the type of athlete who excels in camp environments due to his athletic ability and natural playmaking skills which makes him tough to cover when playing him 1-on-1. Young is quick off the line and has the speed to consistently separate in the open field. He also does a nice job stemming his short and intermediate routes with a good understanding of leveraging the DB.
Young is ready to break out at the big school level in 2024 as a senior with a hopefully healthy quarterback situation next season.
Highlights
Ripley’s Chris Jenkins Chris Jenkins 6’0″ | 170 lbs | WR Ripley | 2025 WV came into the Combine as a huge unknown to us and very under the radar, but had a strong showing throughout the camp. Jenkins had just 5 catches for 19 yards as a junior in 2023, but you would’ve never guessed that by how he looked at the camp. Jenkins is a strong and physically built 6’0 190 athlete who tested very well during the Combine testing drills. He ripped off a 4.65 40, 4.22 pro shuttle, and a 7.34 L Drill which were some of the best numbers out of everyone in attendance.
Jenkins is flying very under the radar right now but proved he can play at the next level with his strong performance at the Combine and natural athletic ability.
The best part of 2025 Hurricane TE Rhett McGrew Rhett McGrew 6’3″ | 235 lbs | TE Hurricane | 2025 State WV ‘s game is his strong blocking ability, but it was good to see him come out and get some work as a pass catcher at the Combine. He thrives on the football field during a real game when there’s more contact allowed compared to a camp setting, but McGrew still has the ability and potential to be a threat in the passing game. He’s an athlete who has recently come into his own and has made great strides in his development over the past three years at the high school level whose best has yet to come. McGrew is a strong athlete who is a tough cover for defensive backs given his size.
He’s already received offers from Marshall and UVA-Wise who ranks inside of our 2025 Top 10 right now as a talented blocking tight end who showed he can be dangerous in the passing game too when given opportunities.

A 2027 WR prospect with a bright future is Parkersburg South’s Kooper Jackson Kooper Jackson 6’0″ | 180 lbs | WR Parkersburg South | 2027 WV . Jackson measured in at 5’11 185 but is very physically built for his age and doesn’t look like a typical freshman in that regard. He also tested very well for his age with a 4.81 40, 7.53 L Drill, and one of the best pro shuttle times in attendance with a 4.22 second time. Jackson is a strong kid who was a productive player on the Patriots’ freshman team last season and will likely be seeing varsity time sooner rather than later.
The athletic base and size he has give him a great foundation to continue building on over the next three years, so don’t be surprised to see him develop into one of the top receivers in this class if he continues on the trend that he’s on.
Jefferson brought a trio of talented 2026 receivers to the Combine with two earning WR Top Performer honors, but the third in Jackson Rockwell Jackson Rockwell 6’0″ | 160 lbs | ATH Jefferson | 2026 State WV deserves recognition as well. Rockwell was another strong tester during the Combine drills running a 4.78 40, 4.47 pro shuttle, and a 7.56 L Drill which were all great times for his age and the weather conditions during the event. We like Rockwell as an ATH right now given his versatility as a defensive back, but his ceiling as a receiver can be high with continued development.
We expect Rockwell to build on the strong sophomore season he had for the Cougars that earned him some accolades, and project him to have an even bigger junior season in 2024.
Highlights
Princeton 2026 WR Wyatt Cline Wyatt Cline 5’11” | 160 lbs | WR Princeton | 2026 WV is a very underrated receiver from Southern West Virginia who needs to be on more people’s radar. Cline had a sneaky good season for the Tigers as a sophomore as their fourth option in the passing game and should have a bigger role in their offense in 2024 as a junior. He was a strong tester during the Combine drills where he showed extreme quickness in the pro shuttle with a 4.2 second time as well as the L Drill with one of the best times of the day with a 7.2 second finish. Cline also ran a respectable 4.79 40 and has a very good athletic base to build around the next two years.
Cline will open some eyes this season if he continues to develop and should have a breakout year for the Tigers who will need their underclassmen receivers to step up.
Highlights
Another promising 2027 WR with an exciting future is Spring Mills’ Zane Wipf Zane Wipf 5’9″ | 160 lbs | WR Spring Mills | 2027 WV who did some good things at the Combine. Wipf has early athleticism for a freshman that projects him to be a high-ceiling prospect by the time he’s a senior. The Spring Mills Rookie of the Year had strong testing numbers for a freshman with a 4.75 40, 4.47 pro shuttle, and a 7.44 L Drill which were some of the best times from the 2027 prospect group. Wipf has natural ball skills and playmaking ability with quality 5’10 165 size that gives him the versatility to play inside and outside.
Wipf will be a player for the Cardinals’ varsity team sooner rather than later, and we expect him to produce for them during his sophomore season.
Events like the Combine is a great opportunity for under-the-radar prospects to make themselves known and that’s what 2026 Ripley WR Connor Pritt Connor Pritt 6’1″ | 170 lbs | WR Ripley | 2026 WV did at the camp. Pritt is a long and rangy receiver with 6’1 170 size that has the frame to add considerably more mass that will raise his ceiling higher. He tested very well for his size and age with a 4.8 40, a very quick 4.31 pro shuttle, and a 7.44 L Drill. Pritt also had quality DB reps which were impressive to see at his length to be able to move the way that he can.
Pritt didn’t see much action as a sophomore for the Vikings, but from what he was able to showcase during the Combine, we expect him to see a big bump in playing time and production as a junior and senior the next two seasons.
Highlights
We are confident that Wayne 2025 WR Kade Estep Kade Estep 6’2″ | 165 lbs | WR Wayne | 2025 WV is going to develop into a quality college player in the future and is an underrated player at this time. He’s still raw in some areas, but Estep has been working hard this off-season to take the next step in his development. The hard work is beginning to pay off for him as he’s making strides in his game which we could see in person at the Combine. Estep has very good length with the frame to keep adding size which will only help him the more he adds. He has good feet for his size and is an improving route runner with a large catch radius with his length.
We expect Estep to see an increase in production for his junior season and should have some D3 college options after his senior year and possibly even D2 with a big year.
Highlights
2026 East Fairmont WR Gavin Murphey Gavin Murphey 5’7″ | 125 lbs | WR East Fairmont | 2026 WV flashed his track speed at the Combine that we saw when watching his sophomore film. He’s undersized right now but had strong testing numbers with one of the best 40 times of the day with a 4.61 time. Murphey is probably more of a track athlete right now but that speed is going to translate more to the football field as he gets older as he flashed as a sophomore. He was a very good kick returner for the Bees in 2023 and you could see why from watching him move around at the camp.
Murphey will further improve on the football field once he adds more size but is a very good athlete for his age and can improve with more development over the next two years.
2026 Washington DB Camren Togans Camren Togans 5’11” | 175 lbs | DB Washington | 2026 State WV showed flashes of why we currently have him ranked as the #2 DB in the 2026 class at the Combine. He wasn’t able to display the strongest aspect of his game right now in defending the run with a camp setting without contact, but it was good to see him work more in coverage during 1-on-1s than what we could see on film. Togans will continue to make strides in that part of his development, but he has all of the tools to be able to do so.
As his body matures and further develops in the weight room, Togans will bolster the pass coverage side of his game and further realize the high ceiling we see in him.
Highlights
Berkeley Springs’ Kyle Moore Kyle Moore 6’2″ | 150 lbs | WR Berkeley Springs | 2027 WV showed why he placed on our 2027 Watch List with his performance at the Combine. Moore is a long freshman at 6’1 155 who also has early athletic traits to pair with it and build on over the next three years. He ran a 4.89 40, 4.34 pro shuttle, and a 7.41 L Drill which were all great times for him as he continues to add mass to his longer frame. Moore had an underrated freshman season for the Indians on a struggling team, but you could see what he can become down the road if he puts the work in.
Moore is a raw player which is to be expected at this stage in his development, but the athletic foundation he has at a young age will give him the opportunity to improve over time.
Highlights
2025 Cabell Midland DB Elijah Pratt Elijah Pratt 5’7″ | 175 lbs | DB Cabell Midland | 2025 WV is a physically impressive 5’7 175 and had a nice showing at the Combine. We liked the recent film Pratt posted from his junior season and expected him to be one of the better defensive backs in attendance. While he doesn’t have great length, Pratt is very strong for his size and uses it to his advantage. He’s a safety prospect with a wrestling and Olympic lifting background who performs stronger during a real game compared to a camp setting where contact isn’t nearly as prevalent. Pratt may not be used to playing in man coverage as a safety, but his physical strength gives him a great advantage when pressing at the line.
Pratt is an intelligent football player with a great understanding of the game and his responsibilities who is going to overcome physical limitations because of such.
