Young is the type of athlete who excels in camp environments due to his athletic ability and natural playmaking skills which makes him tough to cover when playing him 1-on-1. Young is quick off the line and has the speed to consistently separate in the open field. He also does a nice job stemming his short and intermediate routes with a good understanding of leveraging the DB.

Young is ready to break out at the big school level in 2024 as a senior with a hopefully healthy quarterback situation next season.

The question we have for him that we want answered at the combine is how does he measure up and can he dominate in 1-on-1s like we know he’s capable of? Listed at 5’11 145, Young has plenty of room to continue growing into his body but has the skill and athleticism you’re looking for in a slot receiver. Hedgesville will be looking for a new go-to receiving target in 2024, and Young is in a great position to be that playmaker for them.

The 5’11 145 rising junior is a burner that was a big play machine at the Class AA level last season. Young is really good after the catch making defenders miss and getting upfield for extra yards. He can take it the distance on any routine catch. Young has the speed to run by defenders regularly at the AA level but it will be interesting to see how he fairs at the big school level where he’ll have to go up against some serious talent. I’m confident he’ll transition well and although he might not be the #1 target right away for Hedgesville, that might open up more opportunities for him if opposing teams are keying on Demonte Martin Demonte Martin 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR Hedgesville | 2024 State WV . I like Young’s twitch and route running ability which will serve him well in the jump up to AAA. If he continues to do the things he did at the Class AA level at the Class AAA level he could be in line for a nice bump in the rankings where he already ranks 63rd overall and the #10 receiver.

Gavin Young Gavin Young 5'9" | 145 lbs | WR Hedgesville | 2025 State WV is a rising Junior at Berkley Springs High School (WV) and is coming off of a breakout Sophomore campaign although he was hampered by injury. Gavin put up some impressive statistics (56 receptions, 871 yards, 8 touchdowns) on a rebuilding Berkely Springs team.

Young has excellent speed (4.7 40), terrific lateral movement and good field vision. He does a tremendous job catching the ball away from his body and has great ball skills to make plays on the ball. Gavin is a polished route-runner, is quick and crisp out of his breaks and keeps his hips low coming out of breaks. He comes out of routes quickly and offers a good target for his quarterback. These skills will translate well to the next level.
