My top performer on the day would have to 2028 top prospect Howard Holton Jr. Howard Holton Jr. 5’7″ | 140 lbs | RB Bishop McDevitt | 2028 PA . I became aware of this special talent just a mere 24 hours before the showcase and he was the best player of the day. Offensively he was unfair matchup to any defense his footwork and route running made him look like a seasoned veteran. While all of his AIT14U squad was dominant, Holton had 1 highlight play after another. If you have seen the absurd juke move he put on poor defender that is circling through social media, you would exactly what I am talking about. Big time future ahead for Holton Jr. cant wait to see how he translates his play in pads this fall.

His teammate Holton Jr. was the best player offensively and overall, you can make a really strong case that Deonte Flemings Jr Deonte Flemings Jr 6’0″ | 170 lbs | DB McDowell | 2028 PA . was the best defensive player on the day. Just like he was on tape the soon to be McDowell High School star used his size and reach to his advantage, constantly jamming receivers off the line and not allowing 1 completion. Think about this folks, the young man is not even a freshman and he is 6’0 even and not done growing. Imagine him locking down some of the best receivers in the state in years to come.

Trinity’s future starting quarterback Mikal Shank Jr. Mikal Shank Jr. 6’3″ | 190 lbs | QB Trinity CH | 2027 State PA was the best quarterback on the day and it was not particularly close. Standing at 6’3 he looks like he is ready to play major varsity football right now, measuring the field and picking apart defenses. On the day I did not see many incompletions or 1 interception, Shank lead AIT14U to a relatively easy afternoon. He has a great attitude and character to lead the Shamrocks this fall, the hype is real for this dude just wait.

Brett Sutter
Brett Sutter
The one squad who I thought also stood out in the 14U bracket was the 5 Star Mighty Ducks. As my co-worker and good friend Patrick Weider will talk about in a future article apparently the 5 Star Mighty Ducks were even better on day 2. One kid in particular really popped off for me was linebacker/running back Brett Sutter the kid was all over the field. He had a crucial interception and I came away thinking this dude is varsity level ready at age 15 when he made the play.
Dominick Sgambellone III Dominick Sgambellone III 5'9" | 130 lbs | QB NY

Playing with a small group as many of his teammates were unable to play due to prior commitments, Sgambellone still was unfazed. Guiding Victory Academy on many scoring drives the gunslinger threw a game winner in the final seconds of the their thrilling victory over Swag. Really like the way he commands the offense at quarterback, he never seemed rattled despite working with a smaller roster than the other squads.
Pierre Hacket
Pierre Hacket
One kid who made plays left and right for Sgambellone was class of 2029 future star Pierre Hacket. Hacket was all over the field defensively at linebacker and safety for Victory Academy Saturday afternoon. I could see why his head coach was hyping him up before the began their matchups.
I was happy that I finally got a chance to see Jerome Larue Jr. Jerome Larue Jr. 5’9″ | 165 lbs | RB Bishop McDevitt | 2028 PA in person before the hype train really takes off for him. Playing for Camboy Training squad Larue acquitted himself quite nicely on both sides of the ball. Offensively even when he wasn’t being targeted you could see him open and getting separation. He has such a natural feel for both running back and receiver I could see him having an impact for Bishop McDevitt varsity squad very soon. If you know about the Larue family you know this young man is next in line, time to get on board while you still can.
Highlights
A backup to Shank on this day, but make no mistake about it, this quarterback has a very bright future too. Like his teammate Geibel is already a standout due to his size and I thought he threw the ball very well Saturday afternoon. When given opportunities Geibel was able to move AIT’s offense with relative ease. The freshman to be is 6’2 and still growing, the way he slings the football you have to feel good about his future also.
