The Elite 11 is an invitation only quarterback competition that has a series of 8 regional events and concludes with a national competition. Invitations to the events are coveted as the Elite 11 is the most revered Quarterback competition in the country. 25 Ohio high school football players were lucky enough to get that invite. All in all I thought the Ohio participants proving why it deserves to be talked alongside with the best football producing states in the country. Here are some of the players who I thought stood out on the day.
2025’s
Tavien St. Clair Tavien St. Clair 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Bellefontaine | 2025 State OH (Bellefontaine) 6’4 210- On a day where it was cold and breezy the Ohio State commit looked unaffected by the subpar weather conditions. St. Clair (Pictured Above) moved really well for a QB of his size. His calling size however is his arm talent. He showed the ability deliver strikes and velocity both on and off platform. While some quarterbacks get long in their motion and try to muscle the ball when throwing on the move St. Clair keeps his motion compact and fast without losing velocity. He plays loose and plays with the confidence of a silent killer. Off of the heels of a strong Sophomore football season and commitment to the Buckeyes, Tavien has blown up into a national household name. It was announced at the conclusion of the even that he had earned a ticket to the Elite 11 finals to compete against the best around the country.
Scotty Fox Scotty Fox 6'2" | 215 lbs | QB Mentor | 2025 State OH (Mentor) 6’2 215- I loved watching Fox do his thing. When you watch him play the QB position it just screams polished. Everything from his footwork, his balance, his mechanics are just on point at all times. One of the things that I look for is what kind of ball does a quarterback throw. The West Virginia commit has elite level spin on the ball. That spin makes for a more catchable ball and a ball that can cut through the wind and inclement weather.
Mason Heintschel Mason Heintschel 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Clay | 2025 State OH (Clay) 6’2 200- When you watch Heintschel’s film from his Junior season, you see a playmaker. It’s easy to see why Pitt offered and is happy to have Mason in the fold as a commitment. He has “it”. He has the arm to win from the pocket, but he’s very comfortable adlibbing and making plays on the move and out of structure. Mason was really a late bloomer. Athletically he’s always been a play maker who could adlib and make plays in tough situations, but over the last year I think we really saw him develop as a thrower with an ability to win from the pocket.
Brennen Ward Brennen Ward 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Gahanna Lincoln | 2025 State OH (Gahanna Lincoln) 6’3 200- The Kentucky commit had a strong day. In spite of a knee brace he was wearing due to a knee injury he sustained in his junior season, Ward showed good mobility. He has the arm strength to make all of the throws. He has a developed frame and the athletic skillset to both take hits inside and outside of the pocket when tucking the ball to run. His ability to run and stretch the field vertically will make him a valuable asset in the Wildcats run based offense.
Walter Moses Walter Moses 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Perry | 2025 State OH (Perry) 6’4 190- Moses is coming off a season where he led the Perry Pirates to a state championship title. The Toledo commit had a nice day. Walter plays the position with a certain smoothness that makes whatever he’s doing look easy. He stands tall in the pocket and is a fluid runner outside the pocket. I love Walter’s confidence, focus, and leadership ability. Rockets coach Jason Candle is getting a good one in Moses.
Jamison Kitna Jamison Kitna 6'2" | 215 lbs | QB Lakota East | 2025 State OH (Lakota East) 6’2 215- Kitna was a player I was really interested to see workout. Kitna has plus athleticism and a powerful build. He’s a quarterback who’s going to be able to hurt some teams by tucking the ball and running if he’s not accounted for. A runner who will be able to get the easy yards, but the tough ones as well. As a thrower I was really impressed with his ability to drive the ball into windows both from the pocket and on the run. Jamison currently has multiple G5 offers.
Kam Montgomery Kam Montgomery 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB McKinley | 2025 OH (McKinley) 6’4 210-Montgomery is a transfer to Ohio from the state of Texas. He’ll suit up for Canton McKinley this fall. Kam is a fluid athlete who’s good at maneuvering the pocket. He has a short and compact throwing motion that allows him to get the ball out of his hands quickly. Most of the balls I saw him throw on the day where accurate and had zip on them. His performance left me excited to see more.
Jahmeir Spain Jahmeir Spain 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Mount Healthy | 2025 State OH (Mount Healthy) 6’3 180-Spain is a long and athletic quarterback from Mount Healthy. Spain has the footwork to avoid a rush and has the ability to throw from different arm slots and different velocities. Where Spain needs to develop most is just in continuing to add good weight and strength. That will increase the velocity on his throws and help him absorb the hits that a college quarterback will take.
Frankie Trinetti Frankie Trinetti 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Mentor Lake Catholic | 2025 State OH (Lake Catholic) 6’3 190- I really like what Trinetti showed in the competition. In the pocket he has explosive traits and loose hips in his mobility. He has a quick and compact deliver with accuracy. He showed the ability to hit both the intermediate and long targets in stride. If Frankie can carry this performance over to his summer camps, I think he’ll start to see his recruitment take off.
2026’s
Nathan Bernhard Nathan Bernhard 6'5" | 230 lbs | QB Ashland | 2026 State OH (Ashland) 6’5 230- As a sophomore, Bernhard already has a frame that would pass for a P4 QB. He is a fluid runner who drew jaw drops from other players with his 40 time for a player of his size. I had a chance to see Nathan throw last offseason, and I feel like Nathan has progressed as a thrower. This year it felt as though he was throwing more to spots than just throwing to receivers. The physical traits and tools are all there. If Bernhard can continue developing as a thrower, the sky is the limit.
Bryshawn Brown Bryshawn Brown 6'5" | 185 lbs | QB Winton Woods | 2026 OH (Winton Woods) 6’6 190- Brown was between 6’4 and 6’5 last season. He now checks in at 6’6. I was really impressed with how Brown threw the ball. He’s grown so much over the last two years that I think he’s still really growing into his body. As he continues to grow into his body, I believe he could make some big strides in his not just his level of play, but in his consistency. The physical tools are there and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Bryshawn’s recruitment really exploded this summer.
Austin Buescher Austin Buescher 6'4" | 165 lbs | QB West Jefferson | 2026 State OH (West Jefferson) 6’4 175- Buescher had a strong performance on Sunday. As a passer he showed the ability to throw to spots. He has a live arm that I think he could push even more to generate added velocity and spin. Austin displayed good footwork in the pocket maneuverability drills and was a fluid runner when running his 40 yard dash. At 6’4 175 he still has plenty of room to fill out and further develop physically. With a strong summer camp season I could see him start to garner strong interest or offers.
Daniel Vollmer Daniel Vollmer 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Saint Xavier | 2026 State OH (St. Xavier) 6’2 210- At 6’2 210, Vollmer is a well put together sophomore quarterback. He shows great footwork and balance on platform. He has explosive traits when avoiding a rush and being able to flip his hips and reverse out of the pocket. As a thrower he shows sound mechanics and a strong arm. His athletic profile says he’s going to be able to beat you with his legs in a zone run type offense as well. The Bomber QB has offers from Indiana, Cincinnati, and Duke.
