Expert Analysis
Tyler Stevens | Prep Redzone Scout
Nathan made some unbelievable plays throughout the game. He’s smooth in his technique and makes deep balls look easy. He’s got one of the best arms in the state, if not the best. Great at reading the vertical system, and does well to manage the pocket. He’s a much better athlete than advertised, able to make splash plays as a runner, and plays linebacker at times. Nathan finished as my MVP for the Arrows.

Bernhard had a nice weekend coming off the heels of committing to App State. Nathan is easily the 6’5 and 230 he’s listed at. He has the arm talent to make all of the throws look easy. He throws a really catchable ball and has the big-time velocity to drive it into windows. He shows the touch to make the harder throws like the fade. The Mountaineers are getting a good one!

is a name you must know if you are a fan of a P4 program. Bernhard had a monster junior season as he led Ashland to a historic season. Bernhard has a great arm and has good zip in the short and intermediate games. He works with great mechanics and is accurate at every level of the field. He has a good pocket presence and can evade rushers while scanning the field to make a play. When he does take off, he isn’t afraid to use his size to gain extra yards and can get up to a good top speed. While Bernhard had a monster junior season as he led Ashland to a historic season, I know he will want to take Ashland to another level and stand as Prep Redzone Ohio’s top quarterback by the end of the season.

Bernhard is one of the more impressive quarterbacks I’ve seen in my years of scouting. At 6’5 210, he already has a college ready frame as a high school freshman. He has good footwork on his drops. He can make throws on or off platform. He does a good job with ball placement on his throws. He’s a 3-sport athlete who has the athleticism to maneuver the pocket as well as get out on the run and make plays. He missed 6 games of the season due to injury, but in 5 games he finished with 1,267 yards and 8 TD’s while completing 65% of his passes. Nathan has a sky-high ceiling and is going to be fun to watch as he continues to develop both physically and as a quarterback.
