Buckle up for nearly 20 class of 2028 Wide Receiver and Tight End prospects to know about in The Box State. If a prospect is missed, attending the Prep Redzone Middle School Combine is a guarantee to get eyes on them.
De’Jay Davenport | MileHigh Thoroughbreds: Can absolutely fly lined up out wide. On tape looks to be arguably the fastest/quickest Wide Receivers I’ve seen in this Colorado 2028 class. Dangerous kid to leave in space, almost demands safety help on every deep route.
Brayton Meglen | Tri-City Elite: A fantasy football fanatic’s dream because he puts up huge numbers. Using a balance of speed, hands and vision, he recorded a reported 26 touchdowns, 1,089 yards of total offense and 48 receptions.
Highlights
Sawyer Pettit | Colorado Jr. Buffs: Also a hard-nosed outside linebacker, Pettit is one of the best two-way players in Colorado. With varsity-ready size and track speed to boot, you can count on one hand how many 2028 DBs have a shot at containing him.
Highlights
Cannon Zubeck | Aurora Spartans: This is what a future FBS Tight End (or Left Tackle) looks like on the eight-grade level. Unbelievable size and agility for a 2028 prospect that already stands 6-foot-6 and 230-pounds. A multi-sport athlete who should have a future in. hoops too.
Highlights
Kwan Allison Kwan Allison WR CO | MileHigh Thoroughbreds – Athletic kid on the outside as a Wide Receiver and can also play corner back. Has even taken direct snaps at QB. Long arms and never quitting on a ball, make him a good friend to have for Quarterbacks.
Braeden Baker Braeden Baker 6'0" | 145 lbs | TE Regis Jesuit | 2028 CO | Creek Bruins – Caught my eye on film while watching several other teammates. From what I can tell main focus is basketball, but basketball players also make really good Tight Ends. He’s off to Regis Jesuit and should continue to ascend, if he hits the weight room hard.
Tavish Burt Tavish Burt 5'9" | 140 lbs | WR CO | Highland Ranch Mountain Lions – Very disciplined route runner that certainly isn’t indecisive about when he cuts. Does a good job of finding soft spots or windows in the defense to sit and show his Quarterback his chest. Has a pair of very reliable mitts, as well.
Lawrence Griggs Lawrence Griggs WR CO | MileHigh Thoroughbreds – Griggs is another speedster that can make life miserable for slow-footed defensive players. While he does give up a significant amount of size, the old saying of, “ya’ can’t hit what ya can’t catch” rings true here. He’s a nightmare to keep in check as a Slot Receiver.
Brigham Jones Brigham Jones 5'11" | 145 lbs | WR CO | Chatfield Chargers – Wide Receiver that can take a short slant into a touchdown if a defense isn’t on their toes. One of the main weapons for a very good Chatfield team from this past season.
Taylor Knob Taylor Knob WR CO – A multi-sport, multi-position athlete that has been a name on the youth scene for a few years. A WR/DB in football, he also plays lacrosse and basketball during the off-season. He was also selected to the CYFI as a seventh-grader and eighth-grader.
Dahntay Kouahi Dahntay Kouahi 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR CO | Colorado Jr. Buffs – One of several stud athletes this past season for the AYF National Champion Colorado Jr. Buffs. Has a ton of developed skill early in his career and comes with very dependable hands. Certainly a nice safety valve for a Quarterback.
Jack Lind Jack Lind WR CO | Highland Ranch Mountain Lions – A two-time CYFI All-Star, Lind comes from a winning and athletic pedigree with the HR Mountain Lions–having earned a trip to Orlando for the Pop Warner Super Bowl twice during his youth career. His father played football and ran track at D1 UC Davis during his career, so genetics are there.
Nick Leopardi Nick Leopardi WR Broomfield | 2028 CO | Broomfield Blitz – On the smaller side right now, but looks and plays much physically stronger than most athletes his size, at this level. Possesses great speed and can make defenses pay if given too much space. Also a threat in the return game.
Grant Lewis Grant Lewis 5'10" | 145 lbs | WR CO | Redlands Chargers – Part of a Redlands Chargers team that dominated local competition like no other team in the state, capped by a 40-0 win in their championship game. Nothing too flashy about him, just seems to always score a touchdown and/or keep the chains moving. Basketball appears to be his true love.
Austin McMurtrie Austin McMurtrie 5'7" | 140 lbs | WR Legacy | 2028 CO | Warriors – A member of the NYFC 2023 Championship team, McMurtie is another Receiver that is probably better served being listed as an Athlete. Pretty good WR and DB with ball skills and noticeable lower body strength. Best position could be at Kicker, where he’s drilling 50+ yard field goals. He’ll be at Legacy.
Tristan Robinson Tristan Robinson 6'1" | 155 lbs | WR CO | Creek Bruins – An extremely polished Wide Receiver for this level, that had his way with opposing defenses during his youth career. Easily stretches the field with his size and speed. In open field often can make moves to make others miss, like a running back.
Jair Smith Jair Smith 5'8" | 130 lbs | WR CO | Colorado Springs Vikings – Very active Wide Receiver that may have the best awareness of all the WRs I have taken a look at. On the smaller side right now, but as dangerous as some of the Receivers above are in the slot, Smith is that type of kid in the boundaries. He’s tough to stick.
