Expert Analysis
Matt Tate | Prep Redzone Scout
Pettit measures in at 6’2 185-pounds. He had 24 receptions for 257 yards with 3 touchdowns, 3 kick returns for 52 yards, 3 punt returns for 33 yards. He has good athletic ability due to very good speed, jumping, good acceleration, and change of direction. Good release paired with good separation quickness. Pettit shows a willingness with no fear to go across the middle, make the catch, and get hit by multiple defenders. Good ball tracking with very good catching. He catches the ball with contact while using his strong hands to hold onto the ball. Large catch radius. Good ball adjustment and very good body control. Pettit is an exciting possession receiver that has shown to turn on the jets when needed. Look for him to continue boosting his stock this off-season.

Newly transferred to Castle View, Pettit brings instant impact potential on both sides of the ball. At receiver, his size, speed, and natural hands make him a matchup nightmare. He has a wide catch radius and can climb the ladder to come down with contested catches. On defense, Pettit has excellent instincts and can step into the box to lay a big hit on ball carriers. He’s already gaining attention on the camp circuit and could quickly become one of Colorado’s top two-way players. I see him as a breakout candidate on the rise, reaching All-State HM with his skill set. Castle View landed a dawg in Pettit he is a prospect ready to shine.

Sawyer Pettit | Colorado Jr. Buffs: Also a hard-nosed outside linebacker, Pettit is one of the best two-way players in Colorado. With varsity-ready size and track speed to boot, you can count on one hand how many 2028 DBs have a shot at containing him.

– Shined it in all three phases of the game for the 14U D2 AYF National Champion 5280 Jr. Buffs out of Colorado
– Put on a clinic at the wide receiver position in the championship game, with a number of great catches. Showed off the ability to highpoint the ball and catch passes away from his body, better than most high school kids out there
– Defensively he is a sideline-to-sideline tackler as a linebacker, but also can drop and play the pass well. Bigger than I anticipated before watching him play live. Also handled kicking duties for the champs
