Among the multitude of skilled players who graced the field, a select few rose to prominence, leaving an indelible mark with their athleticism, skill sets, and competitive spirit that allowed their teams to make a push in the finals. In this scouting report, we delve into the standout performers who captured the attention of spectators and scouts alike, highlighting their strengths, areas of improvement, and potential to make waves in the realm of youth football playing on Sunday.
Rayke Wilson
Rayke Wilson
Rayke was a player that was making good plays all weekend, but was able to turn it up to another level when tournament play began. Although not the biggest or the fastest, Wilson was the key to BCE’s success every game. His ability to sneak behind the defense was a spectacle, and had the hands and body control to catch touchdowns consistently. He was a lock to grab at least one touchdown a game, and was key to helping BCE go on a run of wins against bigger teams. His verticality and innate ability to attack jump balls was a pleasure to see all weekend long.
Javen Crowley
Javen Crowley
Crowley is a player that is going to play big time football in his future. As the gunslinger, Javen showed great feet and movement in the pocket. His throwing motion was one of the smoothest in the tournament, and was constantly fitting balls into very tight windows allowing his receivers a chance to make plays and score points. Even with the wind, Crowley was one of the only quarterbacks to still able to strength and skill to float balls 30 yards downfield into a bucket for his pass catchers to catch them in stride. Overall, Crowley was one of the main reasons TheUNIT Gold squad was able to make it as far as they did in the tournament.
Jaxon Suggs
Jaxon Suggs
One of Crowley’s best pass catchers was Suggs. Suggs was able to turn up his game at the right time and it paid off with a good tournament run. Although not the biggest, there was not a receiver in the entire division that was able to create as much separation with his breaks than him. Suggs complimented his route running with great hands which game him everything he needed to be a problem for defenses. Suggs also showed up on defense with these talents, which allowed him to directly support his team’s scoring by snagging several picks all weekend and showed off how much of an athlete Suggs is around the ball.
Taptto was the definition of playing with the cards given. As a natural quarterback, Taptto shows the size that anyone would absolutely love to have in a signal caller, but that was not where Satank shined. Playing receiver in his semi-final matchup, Taptto made the best catch of the weekend no doubt. Closely covered and grabbed by his defender, Taptto pulled in a 25+ yard bomb in the back of the end zone with only one hand. Behind his head, arm extended, and falling to the ground, Taptto pulled in a ball that everyone was sure was going to be incomplete. There is no position Satank can’t play on a football field, and is going to do great things for whatever team he plays for.
