’25 | Carsom Thornton Carsom Thornton 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB East Grand Rapids | 2025 MI | East Grand Rapids | Hudl
With the graduation of Scotty Millman Scotty Millman 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB East Grand Rapids | 2024 State MI , Carson Thronton should be QB1 next season. I’ll be honest: his film looks raw. His mechanics need improvement, and he needs to be more consistently accurate. His film does show several promising things. For instance, he’s good in the PA rollout game. When he’s tasked with making a simple read, he’s able to get the job done. He also has good arm talent and can launch it when he wants to.
’25 QB | Evan Abberger Evan Abberger 5'10" | 150 lbs | QB Holland Christian | 2025 State MI | Holland Christian | Hudl
Evan hasn’t posted any highlights from this past season. However, I’m confident that he’ll play well during his senior season. Evan is a solid pro-style quarterback who’s able to read a defense and play within the structure of the offense. His accuracy is good, and he’s able to throw to all parts of the field. I still think that Evan can be a great college prospect, but these next 9 or so months are going to make or break his recruitment.
’25 QB | Armaan Irving Armaan Irving 5'10" | 175 lbs | QB Northview | 2025 MI | Northview | Hudl
Armaan is a solid playmaker who does great work outside of the pocket. Yes, he can scramble, but he also does a good job keeping his eyes downfield. There are several highlights where it looks like the play action isn’t going to work, but Armaan evades pressure long enough to make a play. Better yet, he also has good arm talent. I see a lot of potential for Armaan, and I hope he’s able to improve his processing ability as well as his accuracy.
’25 QB | Max Holser Max Holser 6'0" | 170 lbs | ATH Forest Hills Central | 2025 MI | Forest Hills Central | Hudl
I’m not positive that Max is going to be QB1 next season, but he seems like the most likely option. He was the only other QB listed on FHC’s State Championship roster, and the highlight below shows off some playmaking. All in all, I don’t know much if anything about Max. But he’ll have a chance to prove himself next season.
’25 | Carson Vis | South Christian | Hudl
I don’t think Carson projects wonderfully to the college game, but he’s a high school superstar. He’s able to evade pressure, keep a high motor, and make plays where things seem hopeless. He’s an amazing competitor and someone who can just flat-out play ball. I could see a world where Carson gets better in the pocket, becomes more consistently accurate, and gets the ball out quicker. If he does that, then colleges may come calling. Though I don’t know if that’s his game, which is completely ok.
’25 | Jack DeHoop* | Unity Christian
I expect Jack to be in the mix as the UC Starting Quarterback. Head Coach Craig Tibbe was on record saying that Jack was competing for the starting job last season, and I would expect him to get the starting nod next season as long as he stays in shape.
’25 | Landon Tungate Landon Tungate 5'11" | 180 lbs | ATH Byron Center | 2025 State MI | Byron Center | Hudl
Landon is like Carson Vis in that although I don’t see a ton of college potential, he’s an incredibly good playmaker at the High School level. His connection with WR Isaac Lee Isaac Lee 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Byron Center | 2025 State MI is one of the best QB-WR connections in the state. Landon has an ability to evade pressure, expend plays, and earn touchdowns on long, grindy drives. I saw it first hand as Landon led the Bulldogs to an improbable upset against Forest Hills Central. In that game, Landon made several big-time throws and scrambles on 3rd and 4th down.
’25 | Jonathan Pittman Jonathan Pittman 6'1" | 205 lbs | QB Mona Shores | 2025 State MI | Mona Shores | Hudl
I’ve talked more about Pittman than the vast majority of other QBs. In short, he’s a big-armed QB with all the arm talent in the world, ideal size, and durability. He needs to work on his accuracy, processing, and getting the ball out on time. At his full potential, I truly believe he could be a Division 1 prospect. Now, I’d say he’s trending D3 or low-tier D2.
’27 | Owen Ostipow | Forest Hills Northern | Hudl
I have no idea if Owen will get any varsity playing time next season, but it’s worth shouting out an up-and-coming quarterback. Owen is a very raw prospect, but he has some natural arm talent and plays the QB position with poise. If he can consistently build his fundamentals, accuracy, and processing, he could be a very good quarterback within a few seasons. Someone to keep a close eye on.
’25 | Brody Betser Brody Betser 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Caledonia | 2025 State MI | Caledonia | Hudl
Brody had a ton of preseason hype, and he was actually able to exceed my expectations of him. Caledonia has a very distinct offense filled with QB power, shots downfield, and rollouts. Brody plays within the structure of the offense extremely well and he has several impressive throws on tape. Currently, I’d say he’s trending toward being a decent GLIAC prospect.
’25 | Kayd Coffman Kayd Coffman 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB East Kentwood Highschool | 2026 MI | East Kentwood | Hudl
Kayd has no highlights from last season, but he seems to be working hard (via his twitter). We’ll see how this pro-style QB fares with a new head coach and several new weapons.
’25 | Luke Berry | Grand Haven | Hudl
There’s a good amount to like about Luke Berry’s game. He has decent footwork, has a few great throws on film, and has a lot of varsity experience. He does need to work on his throwing mechanics, accuracy, and overall consistency. Luke is going to be an extremely important piece of next year’s Grand Haven team, and I’m excited to see if he can lead them to some W’s in 2024.
