Expert Analysis
Tyler Graham | Prep Redzone Scout
- Better than I had even expected
- Quick and decisive throws- didn’t hesitate to fit the ball in some tight windows
- Shined in short/intermediate timing routes
- Looked great on the ground, Muskegon was getting tired of trying to tackle him and Ike Steward

Jonathan has been steadily improving for awhile now, and Shores will look to him once again this week against an always tough Muskegon defense. On the ground, I will be watching to see what his vision is like and what kind of burst he has through the hole. Through the air, I want to see his ball placement and anticipation. Will he be able to throw guys open against a defense that prides itself on being faster and more reactive than their opponent? We will definitely be watching!

We have been high on Pittman for awhile now here at PRZMI, but it’s looking like he is really starting to come into his own on the field! My counterpart Alex just got to see him in person against a strong Byron Center team, and Jonathan was efficient in the passing game with good decision making, and was a menace on the ground. That is largely what I see in the clips I have seen so far as well. He is quick and runs hard north and south, and has a strong arm that can push the ball down the field. I think Mona Shores is going to have a shot at making a deep run, so I am hoping to see them in the not so distant future!

I’m extremely pleased with what I saw from Jonathan! In short, he took care of the football and managed the game very well.
One of the most popular plays Mona Shores ran was QB power. During several of those instances, Jonathan showed solid hard-nosed running. Not a whole lot to say there- Jonathan followed his blocks, showed solid contact balance, and generally ran well.
In terms of passing, I saw Jonathan take significantly fewer risks than I’ve seen in the past. When he missed his target, it was overthrown, which is highly preferred over underthrows. If the play wasn’t there, Jonathan didn’t throw into super tight coverage. There remains a bit of an accuracy issue, but it seems like Jonathan is seeing the field better than he ever has. In the end, Jonathan finished the game having gone 7/9 with 1TD.

This is Pittman’s year. For three+ years now,

has been an incredibly intriguing Quarterback prospect at Mona Shores. Generally, he’s a QB with phenomenal talent, a big arm, great measurables, but he lacks in a few important areas. First, I’ve seen Jonathan’s play decline in a few big situations. Even in low-pressure situations, he sometimes falls victim to the occasional bad mistake or very inaccurate throw. But at his best, Jonathan is able to throw on time, accurately, and with a ton of power. Most notably, Jonathan excels at the backshoulder fade. I’ve seen him and his WR

convert that play dozens of times, and I know that he has the talent to throw with that type of accuracy each and every down. Mona Shores has an excellent team heading into this season and I fully expect Pittman to take that next step and lead his team to a deep playoff run.

This is, without a doubt, the most important offseason for

. I feel like a broken record because I’ve talked about Jonathan several times in the past year, and nothing much has changed in my evaluation; he’s a Quarterback with phenomenal arm talent and size but needs to become smarter and more decisive with his passing. Jonathan can compete jump-ball go routes to

all day, but this offseason, I need to see accuracy improvements for the entire route tree. If he’s able to show improvements, he should 100% get a GLIAC opportunity.

I simply can’t write an arm talent article without mentioning Mona Shores Quarterback

. Dude can flat-out sling it, and his arm strength is among the best in the class. I’ve seen Jonathan make big-time deep throws on several occasions, and he’s quite accurate on go routes. I expect to see Jonathan several times this offseason as I did last offseason, and I should have a great idea of how his recruitment is going to go based on conversations with college coaches.
