I have long touted Tomarion as one of Michigan’s best power RBs.
Weight room stats do play a role here. 625lb deadlift, 500lb squat, and 300lb bench press. This makes for a phenomenal ceiling in short-yardage situations. Plus a high skill ceiling in trucking, contact balance, and all-around power.
So far in Tomarion’s career, he’s shown excellent power, especially last season. His 2024 highlight tape is full of broken tackles against excellent defenses. Tomarion’s production took a leap last season, and he’ll likely be even better this season.

Power.
Tomarion has always had great power. He’s a rock-solid power RB who’s an all-star in the weight room. There are a few instances on tape where this power shows up. 1:11 on his Junior Season highlight tape stands out as a great example of power running. As Tomarion runs through a tackle, a DB says “nah” and backs away from him at the 5-yard line. The next highlight, Tomarion runs through a few tackles and does a great job keeping his feet moving through a ton of defenders.
Tomarion is the best power RB in this class. I think he still has room to grow when it comes to speed and contact balance, but this is still a D1 prospect. Very high ceiling.

Tomarion is one of those guys that has shown improvement each and every year. Last season was his best one yet. Though, there’s still a good bit to clean up heading into next season.
Last season, Tomarion did a great job of running downhill with a ton of power. Plus, we saw a little more elusiveness and better vision than in years past.
Next season, I expect him to put it all together. Another step forward in contact balance, open field elusiveness, and vision should make for several more explosive TD runs. Those 20-yard runs could turn into 50-yard TDs, and the 3-5 yard runs could turn into 10-yard runs. Plus, if I had to put a number on it, I’d predict Tomarion to run for at least 1300 yards next season.

Finally, we have Tomarion Steward from Mona Shores. I think he took a big step forward this season, but he’s still a shorter-yardage Power RB, first and foremost. His athleticism is the biggest area he needs to improve. Still way above average but not elite like others on this list. Also, his vision could improve. Too many times have I seen Tomarion run into the teeth of the defense. Still, elite power, great contact balance, and a super, super high ceiling.
Athleticism: C+
IQ: D
Strength: A+
Receiving: N/A
Blocking: B-

- Was absolutely as advertised, big time physicality inside and strong legs allowed for extra yardage
- Good speed burst through the hole, didn’t hesitate or dance around
- Trusted his vision and went for any gap he saw, typically making Muskegon defenders dive for his feet on the way by
- Grind-it-out player with great potential

Ike is a tough nosed RB who punishes defenses for trying to arm tackle him and can take it to the house on any play. He will undoubtedly have my attention as he will need to be a consistent yards getter for this offense. We all know this game will be a game of inches, so he will need to show improved vision to take advantages of the small gaps he does get. There likely won’t be a ton of running room, so I will be watching to see how he improvises to establish the run game.

Tomarion showed plenty of flashes during yesterday’s game. His power showed up on several occasions, as he broke through just about every arm tackle. His 2nd-quarter touchdown is the best example of Tomarion’s power in action.
That said, Tomarion is best utilized between the tackles. Whenever he got an opportunity outside of the tackles, Byron Center did a great job swarming to him, and Tomarion isn’t someone who’ll juke out an entire defense. I would have liked to see a few more quality opportunities for Tomarion, but I’m at least happy I got to see some in-game action. He passes the eye test, is built incredibly well, and can get low and bulldoze through a defense. Still some room to grow athletically and vision-wise, but undoubtedly massive upside.

We are witnessing Tomarion’s breakout season. Up until this season, I thought Tomarion had incredibly good traits but generally lacked experience as a running back. This season, he’s finally showing some good vision, open-field athleticism, and power. His first running highlight (0:34) shows excellent explosiveness up the middle and a little athleticism, getting him past the second-level defender. The next highlight at 0:54 further displays his explosiveness and top speed. Tomarion still has a ways to go until I consider him a polished running back, but he’s 100% showing improvement so far this season.

Now, Tomarion doesn’t have anything new up on his Hudl, but the High School Football media have taken notice of Tomarion’s rise. From the handful of highlights I’ve seen from two weeks, it looks to me like Tomarion is earning more opportunities and doing more with those opportunities. Last season, I couldn’t help but think that Tomarion could improve on his vision. So far this season, it looks like he’s improved on the vision and decisiveness while being as powerful as ever. Even better, he’s putting up big games against great defenses. It seems safe to say that this is finally Tomarion’s breakout season, and I truly hope I’ll be able to catch a Mona Shores game this season!
