And just like that, the 2024 crop of Minnesota high school football players is now in the past. Still a bit surreal saying that, as they are still in the midst of their senior year and it seems like the thrilling, competitive, eventful, and hair-raising 2023 prep season just happened, but as it goes, their high school football experience is over. To commemorate, applaud, and send off the senior class, PrepRedzoneMN was honored and eager to publish the FINAL PRzMN 2024 Rankings Update, which went live last Friday and included renovations such as 100 new names added, a completely refurbished Top-25, 50, 100, and 300, a New #1, a ridiculously talented Big Board, and some major movement - both up and down - in the established and already-ranked prospects that comprise our unmatched high school football state rankings. A fan favorite, PRzMN always finds it necessary to highlight the biggest movers and shakers of the update and which recruits hard work, talent, and timing helped them boost their stock and climb the rankings more than any other player in the state.

PrepRedzoneMN's top stock riser of the final 2024 rankings update goes to Eden Prairie Eagle [player_tooltip player_id='706026' first='Dennis' last='Rahouski']. A massive 6'6, 260 lb. DL and occasional TE/OT who is heading to Yale to play some Ivy League football, Rahouski saw his recruitment blow up last summer on the camp circuit, where Rahouski put that exciting and massive frame to good use in 1-on-1 settings and the always-important eye test. After offers rolled in from the likes of Bemidji State, St. Thomas, Southwest Minnesota State, Cornell (NY), MSU-Mankato, FCS champs South Dakota State, Sioux Falls, and Yale, Rahouski shut it down and committed to the Ivy League competitor in a tradition we've seen quite often in Eden Prairie standouts. Something weird happened to me with his film during the junior year evaluation process, and with the tape I did see, I saw an awesome frame but also a kid still needing some work in the physicality department. However, after more film from his junior year became available on his Hudl for some reason, I saw him dominating his opponents, putting his mass to physical use, and beating people up. This rankings jump wouldn't have been as significant without that film mishap, but either way, he was a force as a senior and a commanding presence for the 6A heavyweight. Playing against top competition, Rahouski was a traditional 5T positionally who does slide inside to play the 3T situationally as well as line up outside the TE, and boy does he put that 6'6, 260 lb. frame to good use. He can absorb blocking attempts and contact well and can really throw and toss aside OL when he locks out and extends his arms, and he overwhelms ball carriers at the contact points and put quite a few OL on their butts on bull rushes throughout the year as well. Strong enough to get ball carriers to the ground from arm tackles that most DL simply can't finish, shows some juice when working an OL to their inside shoulder, and gets off the ball well and upfield quickly, which helped him earn more than his fair share of TFLs behind the LOS, Rahouski is a good athlete at his size and a prospect with obvious upside and above average physical traits and athleticism. With the way college football works now, I wouldn't be surprised to hear about this kid moving up a level of competition once he gets his degree from Yale. That's far off though, for now, enjoy the ride, young man.

A prospect who exploded onto MN 2024 high school football recruiting last summer after the 2023 track & field spring season concluded, Minnetonka Skipper CB [player_tooltip player_id='242383' first='Tobias' last='Williams'] is an absolute burner on the track, posting near-elite 100M and 200M times as junior that included a 10.47 100M and 21.29 200M, not to mention his 6.99 60M time. Off the jump, that verified speed makes him one of the top football prospects and must-know name in the state, regardless of the state, and the upside and potential development that a potential college staff could do with a kid that fast has some pretty exciting implications. Montana State offered Williams a football scholarship in June, but things stayed quiet (at least publicly) on the football front recruiting-wise, and after that North Dakota State and Duke offered for track, the latter offer he accepted in June. With track and field on his mind, Williams didn't update his senior football film much, and when I got to see him live in the regular season finale against Maple Grove, the Crimson stayed away from his side of the field, although the 6' CB managed to break up a pass or two and flash some aggressive tackles as well. In his limited senior tape, you can really see that 10.47 speed show up when he hawks down loose ball carriers far downfield, but it's also worth mentioning that Williams is a willing and efficient tackler and gets out of his breaks well to boot. Looks like we've see the last of his football career, but the 'Tonka program had to have loved the ability he gave them on the perimeter and I'm excited to follow hie collegiate track career out in North Carolina.

Boy oh boy, what a year it was for Andover's [player_tooltip player_id='470809' first='Luke' last='Dehnicke']. Named to both the StarTribune and Kare11 All-Metro teams, the Minnesota Vikings All-State Team, and a Minnesota All-Star, Dehnicke was outrageously productive and dynamic in his senior season with 5A heavyweight Andover had about as good of a senior season as could be had. I got to see him live against Mankato West, and man, he was all over the field, a theme that continued throughout the rest of his senior campaign, which helped make a massive jump from the watchlist to right outside the Top 50 at #52 overall. The likes of Davidson, Minnesota-Duluth, Colorado School of Mines, St. Thomas, and Sioux Falls offered up throughout the course of his recruitment, and NSIC traditional powerhouse UMD ultimately earned his talent for the next 4-5 seasons. Yet another exceptional Minnesota prep talent heading to Duluth. Dehnicke was simply fantastic on both sides of the ball for the Huskies this past fall. A MOF defender with excellent range, instincts in coverage, and booming physicality, and a WR with splash play speed, tons of juice after the catch, a huge catch radius, and general highlight-reel playmaking ability game-to-game, he is very rangy and patrols the defensive secondary with comfort, speed, and instincts, one of his opening plays of his senior tape is him easily working from hash to sideline to snag a one-handed INT in highlight-reel fashion. He possesses consistent contested catch ability, is a 6'4 pass-catcher with the speed to burn CBs and take the top off the defense, and can high-point the football with lethal ease, the kid is strong after the catch and able to break tackles in multiple ways, is noticeably comfortable with the ball in the air, tough as heck, and a fun-to-watch, dominant tackler with plus-length and a hairline trigger. Dehnicke could do whatever he wanted on the gridiron this past fall, and I am stoked I got to see him live. Duluth got a good one!

There were a lot of strong 2024 senior classes at MN programs throughout the state, but Detroit Lakes' was something special. In addition to the old-school, throwback, program-changer and prize recruit [player_tooltip player_id='242433' first='Mason' last='Carrier'] (6'2, 225), the Lakers 2024 class produced its fair share of prep football monsters, with 6'3, 280 lb. North Dakota offensive line commit [player_tooltip player_id='242435' first='Isaac' last='Cariveau'] at the top of the heap. A lot needs to be said and credited to the Lakers strength & conditioning program, which played an important role in the development of these beefy and physical seniors, but I also don't want to take away from Cariveau's talent, upside, and God-given ability. A RT with quick, active feet and a balanced blocking style that rarely overreaches or over-extends, Cariveau has tons of reps of him driving opponents 15-20+ yards downfield and far out of the play in Michael Oher "The Blindside"-esque style. At a solid 6'3, 280 lbs., the Detroit Lakes mauler comes off the ball with a solid pad level, plays with a noticeable motor and a bit of an edge, is a physical finisher, and is more comfortable and experienced in pass pro than the majority of small school Outstaters, and is patient and smooth in his pass set and effective at playing opponents hands. We saw his D1-worthy size and playstyle in person after his strong, OL MVP winning performance at PRzMN Showcase in the spring of 2023, which preceded his recruitment blowing up during camp season, as MSU-Mankato, Southwest MN State, Winona State, UW-River Falls, UMD, Northern State, Minot State, and MSU-Moorhead all reaching out in June. North Dakota followed up in July, and it didn't take long for Cariveau to jump on the FCS Missouri Valley scholarship. Named to the Minnesota All-Star Game after the season, we've seen Outstate OL prospects just like the Detroit Lakes product find a NFL-worthy attention and success at Missouri Valley programs, so keep your eyes out for this dude in a few seasons of MVFC action. Easily a Top-35 prospect, Cariveau saw his stock rise 135 places in the latest update, as the in-person eval and larger availability of film, plus the work he put in the offseason, made him an easy choice for a large bump in the rankings. Best of luck in Grand Forks, young man!

One of the big winners and breakout stars of the 2023 season, Rosemount's [player_tooltip player_id='368541' first='Landon' last='Danner'] played his butt off to Minnesota All-Star Game status and produced some entertaining and impressive tape from his senior campaign with the Irish. Football is a funny sport, and success can dig itself to the surface in small decisions or moments that when looking back, created big waves that were right there, ready to rip. Danner was an All-District Honorable Mention quarterback for the Irish, but with a loaded QB room on their 2023 roster, Danner made a classic football guy, which isn't an easy or fun decision to make by the way, and switched positions. The QB turned TE/OLB/DE proceeded to then ball his tail off, and was a productive and explosive two-way threat for Rosemount and one of their best players last season. As a TE, he was a pass-catching threat with strong hands that could catch the rock away from his body and demonstrate some shake and power after the catch who wants the ball in his hands in big moments. He's also a mean, physical blocker who uses his hands well and can corral and beat up defenders both from the traditional inline TE around the LOS or out in the second level and dominated DEs as an inline blocker in the run game. Also disruptive as a 5T who gets off the ball well, shows a bit of twitch, and has an obvious motor, he put some impressive reps on tape of him running down loose - and fast I may add - RBs from the backside of the play to the play side sideline, and overall plays hard between the whistles and loves the physical aspect of the game. The position switch, dynamic ability, size, and tape all combined to help Danner climb 124 spots up to #82 overall in the state. Top-100 player? That's nothing to scoff at, and he'd make for a very talented TE or DE at the next level, and to match his play, his recruitment took off during the season, earning offers from NSIC heavyweights Sioux Falls and MSU-Mankato. Still no commitment yet, so to the college coaches reading this please give him a look!

I remember Apple Valley CB Will Washington's junior tape from the 2022 season, and I also remember how much his teammates and coaches talked him up as he went into the all-important junior spring/summer camp circuit, but the big impression I got from the film was that he liked to tackle and had the speed to stay on top of WRs going deep. Sometimes it can be hard to eval good CBs on film only as they don't get targeted a lot throughout a game, especially if the opponent is run-heavy, and i couldn't get a good enough feel on his coverage ability from the 3-4 incomplete passes he forced on his junior tape. Well, there's no way to get around it, I dropped the ball here, as Washington went into Fargo for the NDSU prospect camp, and amongst 600+ competitors, he showed up and impressed so much that he earned a Bison offer in-person and the spot, one of the more impressive things a Minnesota prospect, and any prospect in this overarching theme, can do. Plus, it's reported by his coach that he ran a 4.48 laser in the 40 as well. These two big offseason landmarks, as well as the balance he brings as an athletic cornerback playing in the Metro and 5A ranks, helped him move up 113 spots to nicely inside the Top-50 at #41 overall. Washington can play man out of the slot or on the perimeter, does a good job of staying patient in his read steps and not overcommitting to a WRs route, and gets out of his breaks well. Still a strong & technically sound tackler, Washington moved around the field a lot more in 2023 and found work and was able to play around the box thanks to tackling and ability to avoid blocking attempts. He also stepped into a big offensive role as a senior and saw the field well and showed off some balance through contact and top-end speed with the ball in-hand as a RB. NDSU has historically hit very very well on Minnesota-born-and-bred defensive backs, so I am very excited for Washington's future and to see him ball in the Green & Yellow of the Bison.

Able to line up all over the DL, Dietel is strong enough to hold a gap through contact and create a ton of penetration from the 5T spot or closer to the center, powerful, and quick enough to make blockers lunge, overreach, and miss when they shoot the hands. He also shows some bend, gets off the ball well, and plays opponents' hands effectively in both run and pass support. Dietel only holds offers from UW-River Falls and Gustavus as of right now, and is the type of prospect that Gustavus generally does a really good job of developing in their DL room, he was an easy choice to crack the Top-200 and is going to have himself a good collegiate career no matter where he lands.
The recent North Dakota State PWO OL commit is coming off a decorated career with the Scarlet, as Schmidt was a three-year starter, two-year captain, 2x District Lineman of the Year, and was twice named All-District and All-City. The RT has the classic hard-nosed, 1-on-1, knock you on your butt type run blocking strength and power, but he's also mobile and athletic, and showed himself as a competent, balanced, and effective puller that opened some huge gaps for his RBs throughout the 2023 season. Yes, he's strong at the point of attack and can bury smaller DL off only a couple of steps once he gets engaged with a defender, but Schmidt is also comfortable working to the second level and operating in space against smaller, quicker defenders, and I was really really impressed by some reps on his senior tape of him stonewalling the likes of [player_tooltip player_id='138248' first='Wyatt' last='Gilmore'] (Oklahoma commit), [player_tooltip player_id='105408' first='Adrian' last='Onyiego'] (Wyoming commit), and [player_tooltip player_id='105369' first='Sam' last='Macy'] (Minnesota commit) in pass pro thanks to his overall strength and ability to drop his base and keep his feet active. He's got all the makings of an offensive lineman ready-made to succeed at the college level, and with the historic legacy of NDSU developing Minnesotans on the OL - both PWOs and scholarship signings - it's hard not to be excited about Schmidt's potential as a Missouri Valley mauler. As mentioned, Konkler is versatile, and he lined up all over the field both offensively and defensively for the Panthers in 2023, showing off a variety of strengths and pros to his game that will him a heckuva DB in the Northern Sun. He opens his senior tape with an absolutelyin hand thrilling catch where he flies over a foot in the air and high-points the football over two helpless DBs while completely laying his body on the line and reeling in the catch while also parallel to the turf he's about to bounce off. Additionally, as a receiver, he's quick with the ball in-hand and has a bit of speed on him, not to mention a physical and willing blocker, but I really like what he brings as a defensive recruit. Konkler is fun to watch run the alley and cover ground when pursuing and eventually hawking down ball carriers all over the field, can play man coverage on the perimeter and looks smooth when he starts/stops or changes direction when mirroring WR routes and breaks on the football, and closes quickly and is a strong tackler at the contact point.
Andover had quite a few breakout stars/exceptional stock risers who really blew up during the 2023 season, and DB [player_tooltip player_id='241915' first='Obe' last='Eyafe'] is one of the standouts to fall into this category. A lot of things contributed to Eyafe's massive success and proceeding 56 spot rankings update, most notably how he really developed and grew into the DB position well from his junior to senior seasons. Before, he was just a longer CB who could close well in coverage but was far more comfortable around the box, closing on screens or carrying wheel routes deep, and supporting the run, and before that he was more of an OLB, but it was also always very obvious that this kid could fly, as he's been a threat as a returner as long as he's been on Andover's varsity and has some very impressive reps of him chasing down loose RBs far downfield on beautiful support angles. But as a senior, he became a full-fledged CB in every sense of the word, and with how defensive back recruiting has been trending, a combination of height, length, and athleticism has never been more at a premium, really allowing Eyafe to showcase his skillset as he projects to the college level. Eyafe took the opening kickoff of the 2023 season, the first play of the year I may add, back to the house for six, and he really demonstrated a bump up in explosiveness from what was already an explosive junior season. He took two kick returns back for TDs and also scored as a rusher and receiver and also posted 45 tackles, 5 PBUs, 2 TFLs, a FF, and an INT in his senior campaign. With noticeable and eye-catching length, Eyafe really made some significant strides in his coverage skills from 2022-2023 and I came away quite impressed with multiple facets of his game as a perimeter defender. I like his smooth backpedal, patience, footwork, and COD skills in man coverage on the perimeter, and he was able to compete and break up passes at all three levels of the field and on harder-to-cover routes such as digs and deep comebacks. Eyafe closes very well once he sticks his foot in the ground when breaking on the ball, and he does a good job of staying in a receivers hip pocket and maintains good eye discipline until he's in a comfortable enough position to get his head around and play the ball. The 6'3, 190 lber. prefers off-man coverage, but has the length to really do damage when pressing once he gets comfortable, is fast enough to carry speedy WRs deep, and excels in the physicality department as well. I saw him basically shut down Gophers WR commit [player_tooltip player_id='368532' first='Jalen' last='Smith'] in the early regular season 5A heavyweight matchup between Andover and Mankato West, and speaking of the Gophers, the U offered an exciting PWO to Eyafe in late November, which the senior jumped on a month later. Maybe it's the former DB in me, but I think his upside and ceiling is just outrageous, and I put him just inside the Top-25 at #23 overall in the final 2024 rankings update. Good luck in Dinkytown, young buck!

I feel a bit bad for the St. Thomas Academy Cadets, as not only did they lose the 2023 5A state championship in heartbreaking fashion this fall, but they also graduate an absurd amount of talent in their 2024 class, most notable from their beefy, ultra-experienced, and decorated offensive line, One of the stalwarts of their 2023 OL was 6'4, 270 lber. Robbie Wollan, who earned a massive rankings bump from outside the Top 110 to #65 overall for a 46-spot increase. A lot of Cadets saw big rankings bump after their 2023 campaign, but none bigger than their PRzMN Showcase standout Wollan, who is one of the most popular uncommitted prospects in the 2024 class. He holds offers from Presbyterian College, Marist College, Davidson College, Western Michigan (PWO), Butler, UChicago, Amherst, Tufts, Middlebury, Colby, Hamilton, Sioux Falls, Valpo, UW-River Falls, Carleton, and Grinnell. That is a lot of college opportunities, and with his 4.48 GPA and 34 ACT it's no surprise he had some of the best schools in the country after his athletic and academic services. His play is of course the main reason for the rankings rise, as the LT - who also played guard and center, not to mention DL and LS in 2023 - works to the second level well and can combo and change direction well to erase multiple defenders in space, not to mention lay some big hits once he gets his pads on opponents as well. With lots of pop and strength when he extends his arms and puts those big paws on opponents, Wollan is hard to disengage from once he gets his hands on DL and LBs and technically sound in both run and pass blocking situations. I also really like his footwork in pass pro especially, and the 270 pounder is an aggressive and dramatic finisher who belly flopped on more than a few helpless defenders vulnerable on the turf. Someone is going to get a heckuva student-athlete in the St. Thomas Cadet.

Remember when I mentioned some of the exceptional 2024 senior classes graduating from prep football action in MN this spring? Cannon Falls certainly falls into that list. The Bombers were led in the trenches by the massive 6'4, 290 lb. now-SMSU commit [player_tooltip player_id='348796' first='Corbin' last='Schroeder'], who received a significant rankings bump in the final update thanks to his hard work, size, and projection to the college level. A 2x All-District and 1x Rochester All-Area First Team pick, Schroeder operated as a LT who created some bone-jarring collisions when he pulled across the LOS or worked to the second level and is the classic beefy and athletic Outstate lineman who really dominates 1-on-1 run blocking situations. He can uproot and control DL once he gets his hands up and under their chest plate and does a good job of running his feet, and is overall mobile and strong enough to finish a high percentage of blocks. With the combination of size and maneuverability he demonstrated on tape, it's not not to think he has the makings of yet another MN-produced starter and potential All-NSIC blocker in a few years. As they say in Marshall, Let's Ride!
