Isaac came away as our offensive linemen MVP at our Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase and ever since May, has been a stockriser when I have watched his reps in multiple prospect camp settings including what I saw at UND last Saturday. What has improved most for Isaac is with his technique mostly with his hands, as he has gotten more elusive with his pad-level and the strength that is in his hands. Isaac has so much driving strength when he gets to the second level as an offensive tackle that has that block to the whistle finishing ability that you certainly don’t want him upfront as a lead blocker if you are the defense. Where Isaac can grow into the 2022 season is improving his second level athletic mobility to develop an even more downhill presence with his pad-level. Isaac has been a heavy suitor in the NSIC this summer and is a prospect that should get more attention over the next couple of months with his recruitment. Twitter

What immediately stood out for me when watching Cariveau was his speed off the line of scrimmage and his ability to quickly get to the second level. That quickness translates well to pass protection as well. He has good footwork – allowing him to stay with smaller pass rushers. If those pass rushers get too aggressive with an outside move, Cariveau does a great job of using the defender’s momentum and the soon-to-be senior’s upper body strength to throw defenders past the play and to the ground. When he gets his pad level low, he blows linemen off the line of scrimmage.

One of many Detroit Lakes Lakers with size and strength in droves, 6’3, 280 lb. offensive & defensive tackle Isaac Cariveau has received a ton of recruiting attention from the NDSU Bison since late November and has also heard from SMSU and Augustana with junior day invites. Cariveau laid some big hits from the OL spot and was impressively dominant and comfortable when blocking in space at the second and third levels of the defense. For a bigger guy, he does a good job of breaking down in space and dropping his hips at speed against smaller & quicker opponents. Also a vicious down blocker, Cariveau is always looking to finish and can dominate at the point of attack with his size and strength. Cariveau is a name I’m keeping a close eye on as we think about stock risers during this upcoming season. DL is bound for big things this fall!
