He exceled on all three-levels with his throws he made in St. Boni, and one of the biggest areas of development for Jude was his ball placement as he gave his WRs ample space to progress their routes upfield with the throws he was able to make. He also took a big step forward with his touch on his throws, as Jude was quite balanced when it came to each route on those three levels with the proper velocity needed.

Houglum excelled at nearly every area during the Indy and 1-on-1 sessions, showcasing the most refined mechanics among the QB group that showed up. Houglum maintains steady control while flipping his hips, is refined with his 3-step drop, and does a good job stepping into his throws, flashing his strength continuously with some pretty, long-arcing throws while being accurate outside of the boundary. With such a standout performance, it was only natural that Houglum received his first offer to play at Crown shortly after the camp, which has been one of his top schools of target over the last few months.

While Detroit Lakes struggled to a 2-8 record last season, Jude Houglum Jude Houglum 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB/DB Detroit Lakes | 2027 State MN showed flashes as a stellar leader for the Lakers’ offense. Houglum showed impressive range as a passer, showing glimpses of impressive intermediate-to-deep ball placement over the course of the season while also working well on quick throws off his three-step drop. Houglum gets great depth on his throws with a long-ranging arc that could be delivered with quicker velocity, but is able to stretch the field with his throwing power. Houglum will look to bring the Lakers back into a competitive after an unusually dismal campaign in 2025.
