Onyiego is different from your typical defensive end. I have to believe he is one of the fastest defensive linemen in the state. His first step will put even the best offensive tackle off his spot and force him to grab. The Class of ’24 defender will play all over the Royals’ front seven – including as a stand-up defensive end/rush outside linebacker and at nose tackle – making Onyiego one of the smallest and quickest nose tackles you will ever see. His speed off the edge forces offenses to put at least chip him when they run away from him because Onyiego has the speed to run plays down on the other side of the formation. While speed is his strength, the Wyoming commit has good hands and enough upper-body strength to hold his own in the running game.

Adrian has seen his recruitment take off significantly already this spring and summer, and from his showing yesterday, I thought he even took it off another notch higher. The wiry edginess Adrian played with yesterday with his change of direction and watching him in 1v1s showed off a plethora of drive and excellent hand technique to get off his blocks super quickly. He shows off a excellent sized motor and burst in short space that any Division I coach is going to want on their roster. Adrian has stock-rose heavily since my last fall live evaluation of his skillsets as I will second my colleague Oliver West Oliver West LB Southwest | 2026 MN in his quote that Adrian “bolts off the line of scrimmage like a bat out of hell.” Such a huge summer brewing for this young man for sure as he already picked up another FCS offer yesterday in Dinkytown.

As I previously mentioned, the Wyoming Cowboys are one of the better recruiters of the Great State of Minnesota, and they made a bold and exciting decision in becoming the first offer for Rogers High School 6’2, 200 lb. EDGE

on April 22nd. An FBS offer from the Pokes is a heckuva way to kick off your recruitment, and Onyiego is well deserving of the scholarship, as the combination of his explosiveness (9’10” broad jump) and junior tape makes for a thrilling combination that Wyoming, and more suitors to come, couldn’t ignore any longer. Possessing a great get-off and a ton of speed off the edge, Onyiego gets into the backfield like he’s shot out of a cannon and closes so quickly that QBs and even punters barely have time to react. The 6’2, 200 lber. is also strong enough to successfully execute power rushes – impressively I may add, as he can back down OTs like they’re on ice skates – and hold a gap against bigger blockers and even double teams, and as a testament to his power the Rogers junior lined up all over the DL in 2022, including as a NG head-up on the center and as a 5T or wide-9 from a two or three-point stance. It’s an eye-popping and lethal combination of speed and power off the edge, one of the best in the state I may add, and boy oh boy I would not want to be an OT dealing with the Royals‘ defensive line next fall. Another bonafide FBS prospect out of the MN 2024 class. Well deserved, Adrian. Keep up the great work!

has FBS interest is testament enough to his abilities, but it’s hard to grasp just how dominant he is until you check out his tape. Within his first three highlights, he’s already forced three turnovers. If Onyiego lands a clean hit on the ballcarrier, anything can happen. His four point stance is almost track like, and the speed he generates from it certainly is. Most of the time, he doesn’t even need to make any sort of move on his pass rush, opting instead to simply sprint by his blocker. When Onyiego has to engage, his move of choice is a vicious bullrush that can send a right tackle straight back into their quarterback. If a blocker somehow squares him up, he waits patiently, leaping high into the air in order to swat down any potential completions on his side of the field. Passion, versatility, and athleticism radiate off his tape, and for those reasons, I am incredibly excited to see how Onyiego’s senior season will play out.

The 6’2, 200 lb. DE bolts off the LOS like a bat out of hell and has blocked a punt, recorded huge yardage sacks, and evaporated PAT opportunities thanks to that get off. He’s also a willing and strong tackler who plays harder than his 200 pounds would suggest.
