earlier this offseason at the SJU camp, and it wasn’t a surprise watching him finish as one of the top QB performers once again in front of the coaches for Crown. Mastel is a natural in the pocket, standing tall and commanding his receivers with great leadership. Mastel flashed many of the mechanics that helped him stand out at SJU, including a strong release with the flick of the wrist, a powerful arm, and fluid accuracy both inside and outside the perimeter. In the end, much like with Houglum, Mastel ultimately received an offer from Crown to play with them going forward. Mastel has been a standout at the camps he’s attended so far this offseason. There’s no doubt about his potential to excel at the next level, and I’m excited to see how he’ll perform for Rogers in 2026.

was on point with nearly every throw that he made on Sunday. Mastel was nailing almost every deep ball that he threw on Sunday, flashing his big arm and great placement, with each ball coming out of his hands quickly, and showing solid accuracy at all three levels of the secondary, as well as precision with his throws on in-breaking and out-breaking routes. Mastel continues to flash clear development in his mechanics from the previous offseason, and as he enters his senior season as the clear favorite for the vacant starting QB position for the Royals, we should finally catch a clear sight of Mastel’s potential as the leader under Center.
The lone 2027 QB represented this weekend, I’ve seen Mastel play a handful of times, but never as well as he did on Saturday. His deep ball is insane, and the touch that he’s able to put on back shoulder floaters is very high level. The dude can launch bombs, and I love the confidence he plays with in the pocket. His deep balls don’t lack velo either, so there isn’t a ton of worry with an athletic safety lurking over the top to pick him off. The Rogers QB room is a talented one, and I’m a big fan of Mastel’s upside going forward.
