The winter is in my opinion the most important time for high school football players as this is the time to heal, train, attend camps, and play other sports. An athlete who continues to improve during the winter and throughout the offseason usually sees significant improvement come fall. The five players I talk about in this article have an awesome opportunity to continue to improve, get in front of college coaches, and maybe earn some offers.
I’m greatly looking forward to seeing more of Isaac this offseason. This is truly one of the best receivers in West Michigan, and I believe he’s trending toward being a GLIAC prospect. Right now, I’d recommend all D3 coaches watch him. Isaac has good athleticism and agility, and he’s able to win separation early in his routes. He has great hands and a knack for coming down with contested catches. After the catch, Isaac is difficult to bring down and is more physical than most his size. He’s in the midst of his Basketball season where he’s the starting Point Guard for Byron Center. Whether it’s this winter or later in the spring, Isaac will impress at football camps and should garner college attention.

Kadale is coming off a phenomenal 2023 season and a legendary state championship performance. If nothing else, he’s proven to be an extremely fit 3-down back who is elite at breaking tackles and can put the offense on his back. Whenever I watch him, I always want to compare him to Kellen Russell-Dixon Kellen Russell-Dixon 5’10” | 185 lbs | RB Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2024 State MI of GR Catholic Central. Kadale has similarly great contact balance and vision. If Kadale improved his speed, I could see a lot of opportunities open up for him. If he puts in the work now, he could really turn it on in the late spring/early summer with the bounty of football camps.

The reality of Michigan High School Football recruiting is that most recruiting efforts are focused in the Metro Detroit area. If you’re a Northern Michigan product like Korbin, it takes a lot more to get your name out there.
Korbin’s film is impressive. His explosive getoff allows him to get to rush faster than most. His pass rush is top-tier with violent hands and a relentless motor. His size and strength allow him to overpower a lot of linemen, and he sports a good rip move that was unblockable for a lot of the linemen he faced. With run defense, he’s good at setting the edge and working through his blocks to get to the ballcarrier on outside runs. I would love to see Korbin face off against better competition this offseason, and if he’s able to make a few trips south to attend camps, I could easily see several colleges taking interest.rnI have not seen Korbin in person, but based on his film I’d say he has GLIAC upside.
I had several opportunities to see JJ last offseason, and he generally impressed me. The size and arm length are perfect for an offensive lineman, and his skill just needs to be a few steps higher before he gets his offers. Last summer, I noted that he needed to work on fundamental consistency, aggressiveness, and holding his blocks. That said, he’s a raw prospect, but I trust the staff at Coopersville is doing a good job at developing JJ.rnWith his size, JJ could be a Division 1 prospect if his skill takes a jump.

Lucas is in a similar boat as JJ. Lucas has good size, he’s gotten stronger over the years, and his skill has improved from a year ago, but he just needs to improve a bit more before his recruitment takes off. Lucas has great potential but needs to improve on his agility, pad level, and overall pass blocking. Once he’s engaged with a defender, he does a good job at holding his block and driving the defender back. Some of his reps show good tenacity, power, and grit. It will take some work, but if Lucas can really make a push to improve this offseason, he could come into the summer and next fall as a legitimate college recruit.
