Class 1A
Coming off leading his Pirates team to a region title, Wellington has kept his strong senior play going in the playoffs where he has been running all over opponents while tossing it in the air successfully when called upon. The Pirates offense is averaging near 50 points through three games and Wellington is a big reason why. His presence behind center along with his athleticism and running abilities have been a problem for opposing defenses. Wellington has improved on his passing, which has flashed well in the playoffs but it’s his speed and vision when he runs that gives people problems. It will be interesting to see how Wellington transitions to college ball next year and what position he settles with because his athletic abilities certainly play up.

Class 2A
One of the best natural athletes from the Class 2A ranks, Mason put together a strong senior campaign that has trickled into the playoffs where this Memphis area product has taken his game to another level. The Bulldogs senior prospect is a two way talent that could develop on either side of the ball but I feel like his best upside resides at defensive back. Mason has flashed tremendous man coverage along with range and speed throughout the playoffs thus far that I expect to continue this coming Friday in the Semifinals. Junior College may be the destination for Mason to begin his college career but if he continues to develop both on and off the field, you could see this name in the D1 ranks one day.

Class 3A
Turner has been on another level of late and that’s saying something because this Mid-Tennessee talent has had a stellar senior year that has boosted his recruiting stock tremendously while being that “guy” to lead his Bobcats team to the Semifinals in the 3A playoffs. A versatile athlete with a gamer mentality, Turner is one of the biggest hidden gems we have in the #TN2024 class. The Bobcats senior has played a ton of ball for Giles Co. but he may not be playing any better than he is right now. His ability to produce yards and score from anywhere on the field is a problem for opposing defenses and he will definitely be a key to stop for Alcoa this Friday. Maybe if Turner can continue playing at a high level while leading his Bobcats to the 3A title game, his stock may rise even further!

Class 4A
This is a late bloomer that has jumped on the scene here recently with some excellent play in the trenches that has recently landed this Nashville native a few college offers. Sporting good size along with long arms and nimble feet, Gray has displayed excellent blocking in the run game of late along with the ability to drive his man to the second level. His play along the front line beside top 10 ranked #PRZTN O-lineman Jason Overton, along with others have given the Firebirds an excellent front five that can lead Pearl Cohn to the Class 4A state championship this season.

Class 5A
Walker Valley is doing some special things right now for their program as they are set to compete in the 5A Semifinals Friday evening and Schwarzl is a massive reason why the Mustangs are in the place they are. The 6’0 confident signal caller has been playing like a man on a mission during the playoffs thus far and is someone Knox. West must keep in check when they face Schwarzl later this week. This is a cerebral quarterback with smooth mechanics, good arm strength and a certain feel for the game you don’t see in many players. His dual threat abilities have been a problem for opponents thus far and it may continue on Friday against the Rebels. If it does, watch more collegiate coaches become interested with this Chattanooga native.

Class 6A
Already known as one of the top running back prospects from the #TN2024 class, Sisa has taken his game to another level during this year’s playoffs by displaying dynamic playmaking abilities that has helped push his Mustangs team to the 6A Semifinals. Others have contributed during this playoff path for Houston but nobody has been more impactful than Sisa. His speed and game changing abilities have been a difference maker through three games, especially last week in the Mustangs road upset over top seed Germantown. Size has to be the reason why Sisa has yet to find a home but after watching this guy for a little more than two years now, I have to say this Memphis area running back is worth a full ride on the D1 collegiate level.

D2-Class A
The Cougars defense has been as steady as they come all season long and it’s continued in the playoffs where Harris has taken another step with his progression by displaying excellent versatility as a coverage linebacker. Standing 6 ‘3 with a wide radius and long arms, Harris covers a lot of ground with his upper body but also with his nimble lower base to cause problems for the opposition off the edge. His ability to drop in coverage but also rush up field should appeal to collegiate coaches. Harris has long term potential residing with him as he doesn’t have the body mass to hold up right now in college but has the frame to take on more weight and develop into a formidable outside linebacker down the road.

D2-Class AA
Recently committing to Chattanooga, Harris, Jr has backed up that commitment with some strong play in the playoffs that has helped push his Lions team to the D2-Class AA state title game. Sporting great physical traits and upside, Harris, Jr is an intriguing talent that has his best football days ahead of him with the Mocs and myself seeing his biggest potential residing at edge linebacker. His size, length and natural strength can issue problems for opposing blockers but he also has the athleticism to drop and play in coverage as well. Harris, Jr is such a good athlete that he could honestly develop at tight end too, which is performing well at that position currently in the playoffs. This guy could be the X-factor next week when the Lions compete against Boyd Buchanan for the D2-Class AA state championship.

D2-Class AAA
McCallie is set to compete for the D2-Class AAA championship next week and their run game has been on another level of late and should be a major factor in their contest vs. Baylor. A major reason for the running success up front is because of the play of Coffman and his aggressive nature to knock guys back and open lanes for Javon McMahan and others. Committing not too long ago to Davidson, Coffman is a versatile interior O-lineman with excellent hands and balance along with high knowledge within the game of football. His play over the last month has been huge but his performance next week will be even more critical going against a talented Baylor front seven, which I think Coffman is more than capable of handling and performing at a high level.
