James Lawson improves to 3-0 with an OT shutout.

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In a battle of 2 stout defenses James Lawson improves to 3-0 on the season with a walk off 6-0 win in overtime over Stratford. QB Steve Williams wins it with keeper from 3 yards out. Both teams had impressive moments from their ground game.<br>JD Stafford a transfer from Lebanon had another excellent game coming off a 219 yd rushing performance last week against Stewart Creek. James Lawson's run game was also dynamic at times with the duo of LeSean Bonds and Christion Gearing. The defenses were the story though with multiple defenders making plays on both teams.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:embed {"providerNameSlug":"twitter","responsive":true} /--> <!-- wp:heading {"level":1} --> <h1 class="wp-block-heading">Big night for LaSean Bonds:</h1> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For the majority of the game Bonds was the best player on the field for Lawson. On one particular run late in the 3rd quarter where he was wrapped up for a short loss, he managed to spin off the defender and kept his balance for a 15 yd gain. Bonds had no problem lowering his shoulder and carrying defenders for even when there wasn't a hole. Right now, the Lawson offense will center around Bonds and fellow RB Christion Gearing, so they'll be plenty of opportunities to make plays like he did tonight.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":1} --> <h1 class="wp-block-heading">Lawson's D-Line Shines:</h1> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2089358' first='Tony' last='Suong'], Demetrice Foster and Lawrence Patterson Jr, all made plays for the Lawson defense tonight. Foster was coming off a 3-sack performance last week against Creekwood and continued his stellar play tonight. Patterson Jr has excellent size at 6'3 245 and does a great job of firing of the ball and has the ability to recognize how the offensive line is blocking [player_tooltip player_id='2089358' first='Tony' last='Suong'] plays both a 3 and 4 tech for the Lighting and is coming off a great season where he had 12 sacks a year ago. The 6'2 225lb edge rusher was constantly in the backfield and created chaos all night. He's got pretty good bend for a young player, and his 1st step is deadly. Even when the Lawson offense began to run plays to the opposite side of the field, he continued to make plays in the 2nd half. He currently holds offers from Memphis and Arkansas St, if he continues at this pace the offers should continue to pour in.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":1} --> <h1 class="wp-block-heading">JD Stafford runs tough for Stratford:</h1> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:embed {"providerNameSlug":"twitter","responsive":true} /--> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Stratford RB had some special runs tonight and really impressed with the way he ran after 1st contact. Stafford at 5'10 180lbs rarely went down on 1st contact and there were a couple runs where he was able to spin of defenders or squeeze in between them for extra yards. On his longest run of the night, a 50 yd scamper in the 1st half it looked like multiple times he was going to be tackled for a short gain.
