Enjoy!

It's time for the quarterfinal round in Class 4A this week. The 4A quarterfinals have some very intriguing match-ups. Between perennial powerhouses squaring off, traditional powers squaring off and much more, Class 4A has it all! In our quarterfinal preview, we'll take a look at each match-up with breakdowns on each team. We'll also take a look at some of the players to watch from each team. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma throughout the week for more playoff preview content!

#7 ADA (10-1) AT #8 CLINTON (7-3)

We mentioned a match-up of traditional powers and it does not get better than this one. #7 Ada hits the road to face #8 Clinton and you have 36! combined state championships between the two programs. Ada has the most titles in state history with 19 but are looking for their first title since 1996. Clinton has 17 state championships and are looking to make it back to the title game after winning it all just two years ago. Ada is 10-1 on the season, with the only loss coming to Poteau and that ended up deciding the district championship. The Cougars have been battle-tested throughout this season. They've had four games decided by seven points or less. But they rolled last week in the first round with a 34-7 victory over Oologah. Clinton began the year 1-2 after losses to 5A and 3A quarterfinalists Bishop McGuinness and Heritage Hall. Clinton would turn things around immediately by capturing the district title. They would trip up in week nine but they knocked off Bethany in the first round for the second straight year.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

[player_tooltip player_id='911940' first='Brock' last='Boyles'] - 2026 Quarterback - Ada

Ada sophomore quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='911940' first='Brock' last='Boyles'] is a quarterback prospect that we're very intrigued about moving forward and we're interested to see how performs in big time environment this week. In last week's win over Oologah, the Cougars were able to do almost all of their damage on offense with the ground game. This week, it will certainly be more competitive. And with that, the passing game will need to come up big in certain moments. Boyles looks like a prospect with some promise moving forward and Friday's game is a big stage for him to perform.

[player_tooltip player_id='1088882' first='Kyn'Tavion' last='Hill'] - 2025 Running Back - Clinton

In Clinton's 28-25 first round win over Bethany, junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='1088882' first='Kyn'Tavion' last='Hill'] was the star of the night. He had multiple touchdown runs of 50+ yards and was also a threat in the return game and made plenty of big plays in that department. Ada just did an excellent job of containing Oologah's running game but Hill and Clinton is a different animal to contend with. We're looking forward to seeing if Hill can replicate his big play production from a week ago. If he does, Clinton will once again be practicing on Thanksgiving and one game away from Edmond.

#4 TUTTLE (9-2) AT #1 WAGONER (11-0)

It doesn't get much better than this. #1 Wagoner hosting #4 Tuttle in a quarterfinal clash for the fourth consecutive season. Since 2018, these two programs have been two of the best in Class 4A and we get to see them square off against one another yet again. Wagoner got the best of Tuttle in 2020 and 2022 on their way to capturing the state championship. Tuttle ended Wagoner's season in 2021 but they had to settle for the silver ball that year after falling to Clinton. So whoever wins this match-up could be on course for a trip to Edmond. Wagoner has been the favorite in Class 4A all season and they've been playing like it so far this fall. They have a perfect record and absolutely hammered Broken Bow last week in the first round. They are a team that doesn't have very many weaknesses. Tuttle has won five straight since a road loss to Blanchard that ended up costing them the district crown. But the Tigers will be ready for this clash with Wagoner after losing to the Bulldogs by a field goal last year.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

[player_tooltip player_id='294262' first='Alex' last='Shieldnight'] - 2025 Defensive Lineman - Wagoner

There's a reason Wagoner is unbeaten on the season and that's because they have a ton of talent that could be highlighted here. Junior defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='294262' first='Alex' last='Shieldnight'] is the guy to watch this week. He's one of the absolute best prospects in the state's 2025 class and prior to their first round win last week, Shieldnight announced his commitment to Oklahoma. Shieldnight is an absolute terror to contend with for opposing offenses but he's not a one-trick pony. He can also turn around and play tight end and give them another threat on offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='215570' first='Brady' last='Mcadoo'] - 2025 Athlete - Tuttle

Another terrific junior prospect to watch in this match-up is Tuttle's [player_tooltip player_id='215570' first='Brady' last='Mcadoo'] and similar to Shieldnight, he can impact the game in a variety of ways. But in last week's first round win over Weatherford, Mcadoo was special at the running back position and as an all around playmaker on offense and special teams. Mcadoo has the ability to break a big play just about every time he gets the football. We saw it first hand earlier this season and he has some momentum after last week's performance. If Tuttle knocks off the champs, expect Mcadoo to be a big reason why.

SALLISAW (7-4) AT #3 BLANCHARD (10-1)

Before we dive into the match-up, we have to talk about Sallisaw head coach Brandon Tyler. This is the second straight program that Tyler has taken over and immediately turned it around into a winner. He did it at Gore after they were 3-27 before he took over. Sallisaw was 1-19 in the last two seasons and they are now in the quarterfinals. The Black Diamonds went on the road and knocked out Cushing in overtime last week. Sallisaw is now one win away from their first semifinal appearance since 2009. But they have another tall task on the road as they face #3 Blanchard. The Lions have been outstanding this season. They played a non-district schedule against 5A opponents and only slipped up against Piedmont on the road. And then the Lions went unbeaten in a district that is the toughest in the class. And they rolled last week against Cache in the first round. Blanchard has been knocking on the door to contend for the 4A state title and this year they are looking to kick that door down and go all the way.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

[player_tooltip player_id='268307' first='Brayson' last='Carter'] - 2025 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - Blanchard

Blanchard is in a similar category to some of the other top contenders in Class 4A where narrowing it down to just one player to spotlight can be difficult. But earlier this season, we saw junior [player_tooltip player_id='268307' first='Brayson' last='Carter'] absolutely take over a game in which the Lions beat Tuttle 20-6 without scoring a single point on offense. Carter has been an outstanding wide receiver the last two seasons but this season he's also been one of their best defensive standouts. Carter gives the Lions a legit weapon on both sides of the ball that Sallisaw will have to prepare for on Friday.

[player_tooltip player_id='1082642' first='Brock' last='Streun'] - 2024 Quarterback - Sallisaw

When you look at Sallisaw and the run that the Black Diamonds are on, you don't have to look further than the quarterback position. Senior signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='1082642' first='Brock' last='Streun'] has been playing fantastic football over the last month of the season, including last week's win over Cushing on the road. Streun threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for a pair of touchdowns and had over 100 yards rushing to go along with over 150 yards passing. The competition definitely takes a step up this week but at this point, it would be foolish to overlook Streun and the Black Diamonds.

#6 NEWCASTLE (9-2) AT #2 POTEAU (11-0)

#6 Newcastle is knocking on the door of their first semifinal appearance in nearly two decades. They went 8-2 during the regular season in the toughest district in Class 4A. Three of the four playoff teams from this district are in the quarterfinals. And the Racers opened their playoff journey last week by going out to western Oklahoma and beating Elk City 46-21 with a dominant performance from the offensive side of the ball. But now, they face a different animal on the other side of the state. They travel east to face #2 Poteau and the Pirates have been simply perfect this season. The Pirates opened their season in week zero with a 24-21 victory over Bishop Kelley. That would be the only time this season that Poteau won by less than 15 points and they rolled by Miami last week. Poteau is looking to punch their ticket to the semifinal round for the fifth time in the last six seasons. The only time they fell short of the semifinals was in the Covid-plagued season of 2020 where they tripped up in the quarterfinals to Clinton.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

[player_tooltip player_id='215196' first='Dax' last='Collins'] - 2024 Athlete - Poteau

We are fired up for this match-up because Poteau has been dominant in just about every game this season. Because of that, we haven't gotten to see many four quarter performances from senior standout and Tulsa commit [player_tooltip player_id='215196' first='Dax' last='Collins'] in all three phases of the game. Collins is one of the more electrifying players in the state when he has the ball in his hands. Whether it's as a running back, in the return game or if he comes up with a turnover on defense, he's a threat to score from anywhere on the field. And big time players make big plays in big games.

[player_tooltip player_id='449184' first='TJ' last='Bradford'] - 2026 Running Back - Newcastle

It's time to start making the argument that Newcastle sophomore running back [player_tooltip player_id='449184' first='TJ' last='Bradford'] is one of the best running backs in Class 4A. He is playing outstanding football right now and really has all season long. He has six straight games where he's scored at least two rushing touchdowns. He's gone over 100 yards on the ground in every game this year except for two and those two were both 49-point wins. But Bradford and this Newcastle offense are facing a very tough Poteau defense. He and the Racers will have their work cut out for them this week.
