The tickets have been punched! We have the final 14 teams ready to take their shot at bringing home a State Championship. We are set for elite matchups across the board, and I will be at Camp Randall covering it all. Before we get to that, we have to look back at how we got here. We do that by looking at the tape of the best individual performances that made big marks on the Level 4 games. These are all names to know, and many will be in action alter this week. Let’s dive in!
Bryson Vieth
Bryson Vieth
Stats: 8 Receptions, 88 Yards, 1 TDrnBryson is a senior WR that looks like a name to know late in the recruiting process. He went up against a loaded defense last Friday, and came away with a strong performance. Watching the tape, I came away most impressed with his hands. You see him make catches outside his frame, adjust to the ball, and show strong hands to secure catches in traffic. Bryson made a lot of plays in the short passing game, creating quick separation, and then getting up the field. Give the senior a look.
Stats: 17/26, 248 Yards, 3 TDs, 1 Carry, 14 YardsrnJoey has quarterbacked the most balanced, high-powered offense in WI this season. I would say “arguably”, but they have already bested most of the teams I thought could compete with them this season. Kallay carved up the Sussex defense Friday night with aggressive, downfield passing. Whether off play action, on the run, or in rhythm from the pocket, Kallay showed next level accuracy and touch that allowed him to hit his guys in stride so they could pile up yards after the catch. Kallay is a technically sound passer from his feet up to his release. The arm strength is where I wanted to see improvement in the past, and now we are seeing him hit deep outs and deep crossing routes along with going deep down the sideline. Joseph is turning into a well rounded passer. I can’t wait to see him take the field live on Friday.

Stats: 17 Carries, 243 Yards, 3 TDsrnJP has led his team on a dominant run through the playoffs, and it will culminate with one last game in Camp Randall. Every time I watch JP it quickly stands out how perfectly he fits in this option offense. He dominates the mental side of the job. You see him make quick, accurate decisions/reads. His instincts with the ball are next level as he knows where blocks are, and sets up defenders. Doyle checks off the physical side of the job too. He has the quick twitch agility to make defenders miss between the tackles. JP can accelerate very quickly out of the mesh point or jukes. His long speed lets him pull away from the field. The senior has a knack for making the special play look easy too. We have him as an ATH. I can’t wait to see where he fits at the next level because he has a lot to offer.

Stats: 5/8, 200 Yards, 2 TDs, 23 Carries, 116 Yards, 3 TDs, 6 Tackles, 1 INTrnOne of my favorite two way playmakers in the state will take the field in Camp Randall this week when Lodi takes on Luxemburg- Casco this Thursday. Mason is another athlete I can’t wait to see at the next level because he can fit so many roles. He has an explosive athletic profile that makes him dangerous in space. Lane can cover ground and make big time hits from the safety position. He is quick to read the QB/offense and close on the ball. He has the ball skills to create turnvoers or breakups. On offense, Lane is a patient runner who can instantly accelerate. He sees the field well, and can turn any touch into a big gain. Mason even looks pretty natural throwing the ball downfield with accuracy and velocity. He can truly do it all, and has a big stage to show it this week.
Stats: 11 Carries, 115 Yards, 3 TDs, 4 Tackles, 1 SackrnDavid stepped up on the biggest stage of the season, so far, and delivered a huge performance. On offense they ran him on a lot of counters that showed off his patience, vision, and burst. On defense, Malin showed a well rounded game, being able to jump off the line and pressure/sack the QB. He also showed he could get out in space and cover pass catchers. Aquinas returns to Madison for the 3rd year in a row, but this time they have a lot of new faces leading the way. David is one of those athletes. Keep an eye on him.
Stats: 36 Carries, 220 Yards, 2 TDs, 9 TacklesrnThere isn’t much to be said about the dominant two way senior athlete out of Stratford that hasn’t been said already. Koehler is a truly dominant player, and has led Stratford to back to back State appearances. He has one ring already, and you can expect to see him be a massive part of the gameplan this week. With the ball in his hands, Kilty has a scary blend of power, balance, and athleticism. He can burst through gaps between the tackles or lower his shoulder and make his own hole. Koehler has a strong base that is hard to knock off balance allowing him to pile up yards after contact. That power shows up at LB too as he runs through OL blocks on his way to tackles. On both sides of the ball, Koehler is a decisive athlete who is quick to process what he reads and react. He is one of the top uncommitted seniors in the state.

Stats: 34 Carries, 223 Yards, 2 TDsrnOwen put on one last dominant showing Friday night to end his HS career. More teams need to give the senior a look because that should not be his last career game. Owen spent the early part of his career being the explosive back that changed the pace and broke the game open. This year he proved he could handle a big workload while still providing explosive plays. I love the way he carries the ball. Whether beating defenders with speed, jukes, or lowering his shoulder, the senior is always moving up field. You don’t see him hesitating with the ball in his hands. His instincts and vision jump off the tape as he quickly finds running lanes. Carlson can be a playmaker at the next level. Check out the tape below.
