Stillwater’s offense has been clicking on all cylinders over the last few weeks with wins over Booker T Washington and Sand Springs. The Pioneers will hit the road to face Bartlesville on Thursday night in another notable district contest. Stillwater’s offense has been on a roll with a dominant running back but part of their dominance has been the emergence of senior quarterback Chance Acord Chance Acord 6’0″ | 190 lbs | QB Stillwater | 2024 State OK . He joined the Pioneer football program in the summer and is starting to find a groove in the Stillwater offense. He’s thrown for nearly 1,200 yards so far this season and nearly half of that yardage have come in the last two games. During Stillwater’s four-game winning streak, Acord has thrown seven touchdowns with no interceptions. The Pioneers are quickly turning into a state title contender once again. They certainly look like they can defend their title this season.
Jenks bounced back in a major way in week six after being upset by Westmoore in week five. The Trojans beat up on Norman North last week and junior standout Hudson Ball Hudson Ball 6’2″ | 210 lbs | DL Jenks | 2025 State OK was a big part of the defensive starters shutting out the Timberwolves. We mentioned it in our recap of the Jenks-Norman North game but Ball established himself as the hardest hitting defender that we’ve seen in person so far this season. He looked like a brick wall that was moving and when he hit a Norman North ball carrier, that player was going down in a hurry. This week, the Trojans and Ball will look to continue their momentum against a Moore team that has one of the better offenses in Class 6A-1 this season. We’re looking forward to seeing this match-up and how the Trojan defense looks against a Moore offense that has a lot of potential. Ball is quickly turning into a star on the defensive side of the ball.
Union’s passing game is certainly going to have a lot of attention this week as the #2 Redhawks host #8 Mustang on Friday night. Union will more than likely be without their star quarterback and that will put a freshman into the backfield for Union. Regardless of who’s playing quarterback, that player is going to have an excellent receiver group to work with. Senior Jino Boyd Jino Boyd 6’0″ | WR Union | 2024 State OK has been leading that group over the last several seasons and is once again the leading receiver on this Union squad. Boyd has been a playmaker since he was a freshman and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do against a talented Mustang secondary. Boyd 2024 prospect that we’ve been writing about since his freshman season and he’s only continued to get better every time we’ve seen him. Boyd leads a balanced receiver group that has been one of the more productive groups in the state.
Class 5A is an absolute gauntlet this season with six teams still having perfect records. #2 Del City is one of them and they are coming off arguably their toughest stretch of the district slate. They got back to back wins on the road over ranked teams in McAlester and Sapulpa. They have a showdown with Coweta on the road coming in week nine but they host Memorial on Friday night. Senior wide receiver and TCU commit Ladainian Fields Ladainian Fields 6’2″ | 180 lbs | ATH Del City | 2024 State OK has been one of the best wide receivers and overall playmakers in Class 5A this season. Fields has four games of at least 100 yards receiving in their last five games and has found the end zone in each game during that stretch. Fields is also a massive threat in the return game and he turns around and is one of Del City’s best defensive backs. Fields has been one of the top playmakers in Class 5A for a while now and he’s playing like it again.
Highlights
It’s one of the best games of the week this week as #8 Kansas will host #6 Kiefer in a battle of 2A unbeaten teams. One team will keep their district title hopes alive while the other will have some work to do and will need some help to close out the regular season. Junior quarterback Seneca Steele Seneca Steele 6’4″ | 195 lbs | QB Kansas | 2025 State OK was a name that we knew about last fall and then we saw him for the first time back in the spring. Steele is an underrated quarterback in the state’s 2025 class and he’s playing like it so far this season. Steele is truly dynamic with the football in his hands and he’s a threat to throw it and run it when he needs to tuck it and run. Steele is a big, physical quarterback that has the ability to impact the running game. We anticipate this game being one of the best of week seven and Steele will look to continue Kansas’ winning ways as one of the surprise teams in Class 2A.
