Top Week 1 Matchups in the OAA Red

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 2023 High School Football season kicks off eight days from today, and it's now time for some large-scale game previews. The OAA is one of the premier conferences in Metro Detroit, and this conference houses many potential State Championship teams. This article will go over seven of the biggest games in the OAA Red! </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Thursday, August 24</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>West Bloomfield vs. Chippewa Valley</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"small"} --> <p class="has-small-font-size"><strong><em>(Xenith Kickoff Classic @ Wayne State)</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is undoubtedly one of the top games of week one! Both West Bloomfield and Chippewa Valley are considered State Championship hopefuls, and both schools house excellent college talent. There is no doubt that these teams will both make the postseason, so this serves as a great measuring stick game for both programs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>West Bloomfield has an elite defensive front seven and an elite group of athletes. [player_tooltip player_id='80954' first='Brandon' last='Davis-Swain'], Montele Johnson, and [player_tooltip player_id='667462' first='Kari' last='Jackson'] are all players with Division 1 talent. Joshua Tillman, [player_tooltip player_id='899431' first='Elisha' last='Durham'], and [player_tooltip player_id='899429' first='Kamren' last='Flowers'] round out a complimentary group of receivers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Chippewa Valley may have an even better group of weapons. QB Andrew Schuester has blown up this offseason and looks like a DII lock at the very least. The speedy [player_tooltip player_id='187994' first='Rayshaun' last='Hester'] heads into his senior season and should be a phenomenal two-way player. [player_tooltip player_id='247647' first='Deshaun' last='Lanier'] is truly one of the best athletes in the state, and he's a true gamebreaker. These two teams are expected to be extremely strong this season. Adams is coming off of a few great years, though they have some major shoes to fill due to 2023 graduates. OLSM has been a team that's stacked when it comes to younger talent, and they'll have a chance to showcase their skills here.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Adams is headlined by the #1 Tight End in the entire country, [player_tooltip player_id='248962' first='Brady' last='Prieskorn']. He's a guy who's worked tirelessly to build himself into one of the top prospects in the country and the #1 prospect in Michigan. Southfield A&amp;T and Cass Tech met up during week 1 of last season, and we were treated to an incredible back-and-forth game which ended with A&amp;T winning 58-56. With the talent on both teams, I would not be surprised if this game was similar to last season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A&amp;T is headlined by Kansas QB Commit [player_tooltip player_id='77216' first='Isaiah' last='Marshall'], who torched Cass Tech last season. Davier Burt is a highly-touted RB that could perform super well this season. [player_tooltip player_id='667460' first='Jalen' last='Todd'] headlines the defense as he's a sensational defensive back, also committed to Kansas.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Cass Tech is considered to be the #2 team in Division 1 behind Belleville. [player_tooltip player_id='212358' first='Corey' last='Sadler'] Jr is the #1 player in the 2026 class and he's debuting as Cass Tech's QB. They also have an elite offensive line with guys like Michigan offered Kaleif Canty Jr and Star Center [player_tooltip player_id='247707' first='Jaylen' last='Washington'].
