The 2024 Rankings have been updated! With each update comes two things, new talented added to the board and athletes earning big jumps up the board due to the hard work they have put in. We focus on that group of risers today and what led to their rise. Each of these athletes look like they will be in position to really show off their talents this fall and further cement their status as top players in this Class. As a side note, we focused on the uncommitted risers to ensure that they are getting the spotlight that they deserve. Coaches, don’t miss out on these athletes.
Rankings Jump: 136 SpotsrnOne of the biggest risers this summer update was the Waukesha South athlete Chris Flowers Chris Flowers 6’0″ | 175 lbs | DB Waukesha South | 2024 State WI . The 6′ 175 lbs athlete does his damage on both sides of the ball for Waukesha South, but his best football comes out when he lines up at DB. Chris is blessed with very quick feet and loose hips that allow him to turn and run out of his backpedal or break with receivers in man coverage. Flowers’ balance pairs with his feet to give him the ability to change direction at top speed, start-stop on a dime, and stay in his receiver’s pocket in man coverage. The long athlete also has the speed to play at a high level of college football, but his short area quickness and burst is what really sets him apart. Flowers holds a PWO offer from the Gophers, an FCS offer, and multiple D2-D3 offers.
Rankings Jump: 66 SpotsrnAnother player who has steadily been working his way up the board here at PRZ WI is the Port Washington OT. Casey looks the part of a dominant college OT with his 6’6″ 300 lbs frame and long arms. Casey looks like a heavyweight boxer when he looks to deliver a strong initial punch. His punches alone have gotten him a lot of pancake blocks. When he isn’t essentially tossing defenders around, Arendt will lock his hands onto his man and then plow them off the ball and into the second level. Casey’s wide base and powerful lower body, as well as good knee bend, allow him to get underneath his opponent and win the leverage battle. I’m very excited to follow his senior season and see what he looks like after another offseason. Casey holds a plethora of D2/D3 offers currently.
Rankings Jump: 60 SpotsrnA player who I feel might just be starting his climb up the board as we head into the season is Middleton’s Gabe Passini Gabe Passini 6’4″ | 190 lbs | QB Middleton | 2024 State WI . The 6’4″ 190 lbs QB has the prototypical size, and as a major bonus, it comes with exceptional athleticism to break a defense’s back when he decides to tuck it and run. As a passer, Gabe puts himself firmly in the race for QB1. He has the arm strength to be able to attack every level of the field, and the accuracy to attack tight windows. The senior is a poised passer who will stand in the pocket and face pressure to deliver the ball. Until recently it seemed like Gabe was one of the best kept secrets in WI, but the FCS offers have started coming in. There are high expectations for Passini and the Middleton team overall.
Highlights
Rankings Jump: 85 SpotsrnEthan has crushed this offseason, showing off his complete skill set. It was already clear that the Milton product has an excellent frame for the WR position at 6’4″ 190 lbs. His film proved that he runs smooth routes, will play behind his pads for the yards after the catch/contact, and that he has soft hands and good body control to be able to adjust and track the ball in the air. Where he has really impressed this offseason started on the track. The big man has proven to have excellent speed and explosiveness for the next level to go with his massive frame. Speed and explosiveness that has earned him D1 offers in track and field. The more you watch him the more it is clear that he has a complete game for the WR position. This Class is loaded at WR, but Ethan is in a race for the top spot. He holds multiple D2 offers and an FCS PWO.
Rankings Jump: 105 SpotsrnConnor has been curshing it this summer on the camp circuit and with his recruitment overall. He has clearly shown off his excellent route running abilities and footwork. It is impressive how quickly Connor can get in and out of his break. Watch the film and you will see him opening up big windows of separation. The SP East WR is so sudden too. He has the quick twitch needed to make DBs miss in space after the catch. Stauff also does a really good job of making the difficult catches in traffic or while have to jump or contort his body to make the grab. Connor is a natural athlete and receiver. That combo has earned him a lot of D2 options as well as a PWO from South Dakota.
Rankings Jump: 65 SpotsrnAnother standout trench beast that has shown he offers the versatility to play OL or DL is the Lodi senior Josh Klann Josh Klann 6’7″ | 265 lbs | DL Lodi | 2024 State WI . Klann has great length on his 6’5″ frame, and there is plenty of room to continue to build on the 260 lbs already there. On the DL, Josh does a good job of using his length to his advantage. He makes first contact, maintains separation, and then uses hand fighting/pass rush moves to defeat the block. The big man eats up ground with his solid first step and long strides. Last, the long, lean athlete does a good job of playing low and keeping an athletic stance so he can react quickly. Everyone wants a piece of the Lodi OL/DL. He holds offers from the FCS level to the D3 level.
Rankings Jump: 17 SpotsrnThe biggest riser among our LB group is the Sun Prairie West standout Ean Ackley Ean Ackley 6’1″ | 215 lbs | LB Sun Prairie West | 2024 State WI . The 6’1″ 210 lbs senior is one of the best as a blitzer. His blend of great timing and burst through the line of scrimmage makes him nearly impossible to cut off. That burst is also key to his roaming the front seven. He dominates from tackle to tackle thanks to his quick play recognition and then his burst/closing speed gets him to the ball quickly. Ackley also has the range to be able to chase down plays outside the tackles. Ean separates himself with the power he adds to the athletic side of his game. He is able to fight through blocks, shed OL, and still make tackles. Ean has a well rounded game, and the D2 level has taken notice. He holds offers from Augustana and Sioux Falls currently.
