Since our last recruiting updates (here, here, here, here, and here) earlier this month, there have been several other noteworthy college prospects from the Garden State that have announced their commitment status.
The Orange-Blue Gang ties run deep. The Thunderbolt’s top skill player in the class of 2024 has announced his intention to attend a certain university in the fall of his graduating year. With a litany of schools to choose from – Rutgers, Pitt, Penn State, Maryland, Nebraska, and Boston College to name a few – Haile decided to commit to a higher learning institution with a familiar face. Haile will be attending Syracuse University after he graduates high school, reuniting with his former high school Head Football Coach Dennis Thomas, who is now the Director of High School Relations for the Orange (and former Prep Redzone NY Contributor Caleb Holfoth for that matter).
It is a fact that Eagles do not fly in flocks, but the brotherhood Coach Wilber Valdez has created atop the roof in Union City has broken animalistic nature. Earlier this month Rose’s Soaring Eagle teammate announced Tyler Koffa Tyler Koffa 6’0″ | 175 lbs | DB Union City | 2024 NJ announced his acceptance of Morgan State University offer. Today we are reporting that Rose will be joining Koffa in the Bear’s defensive backfield, also at Morgan State. The HBCU beats out Akron and UMass for Rose’s services.
Something just feels right when Ironmen stay home to continue to build their legacies. Lester of Don Bosco Prep is doing exactly that. Having his choice of out-of-state offers to choose from like Buffalo, UConn, LIU, Merrimack, and Sacred Heart, the linebacker and part-time D-lineman chose Monmouth above the field. The Hawks have had a very productive month, with Lester being the third recruit to commit to the school this month that I can recall.
Highlights
Another physical athlete with the build and size to literally play anywhere on the football field has made a decision as to where he will continue his his academic and athletic career. It is not crystal-clear as to what offers Watson, a 6’5″ 225lb edge player out of Mainland, held. Rumors swirled about him being on the radar for both Army and Temple; however, Holy Cross has earned Watson’s commitment. In the fall of 2024 Watson will partake in a crusade to Worcester, MA to suit up for the Crusaders.
Two is company and three is a crowd. Vargas is the third Union City Soaring Eagle to announce his college commitment this month. Being the versatile skill that he is, Vargas will be attending Sacred Heart upon graduating high school in 2024. It was rumored that Marshall had shown interest in this dynamic prospect as well.
Our last update for the month comes out of Lawrenceville, NJ from the Lawrenceville School – one of the state’s better post-graduate prep programs. Lazor, who originally hails from Vernon Hills, Illinois, currently plays not far from one Ivy League university (Princeton) but intends to play for a different Ivy League school upon graduation. In the fall of 2024 Lazor will be joining the Bears at Brown University, adding to their quarterback room way up in Rhode Island.
