This week there were several prospects who effectively came off the board by committing to where they will attend college upon graduating this time next year.
Possibly my favorite interior defensive lineman in the class, on June 11 Cardoba announced on twitter that he will be attending Kent State in the fall of 2024. This is a big get for the Golden Flashes, who add an athletic and alert interior pass rusher. Additionally, the Ohio-based school further cements themselves in the thick of the New Jersey high school football recruiting scene. Cardoba also held offers from UMass and Akron.
One of the state’s top safety’s has made a decision. The Lawrenceville School product had his pick-of-the-litter to choose from. His offers included Vanderbilt, Virginia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan State, Monmouth, Old Dominion, Charlotte, UPenn, Rutgers, and Temple; however, the 6’5″ specimen will be taking his talents up north to Camp Randall at spend the next four years at the University of Wisconsin as a Badger.
Perhaps one of the most noteworthy defensive backs in the state and arguably one of the state’s top prospects, Jaylen McClain Jaylen McClain 6’0″ | 175 lbs | DB Seton Hall | 2024 State NJ plans on attending THE Ohio State University in the fall of 2024. A consensus top-5 prospect in the state, McClain held offers from nearly every major program in the country. With the versatility and athleticism to play either safety or corner, McClain will join New Jersey’s top 2022 prospect Davison Igbinosun in the Buckeye’s defensive backfield.
As massive of a young man that he is, earning his commitment was an even more massive grab for Virginia Tech. Mount Olive’s Aidan Lynch Aidan Lynch 6’7″ | 290 lbs | OL Mount Olive | 2024 State NJ will be taking the trip down south to call Blacksburg home for next four years. A top academic school in its own right, Lynch selected the Hokies over a litany of other outstanding academic schools, including Vanderbilt, Yale, Stanford, Princeton, Georgetown, and UPenn. Additionally, Lynch had numerous offers from other powerhouse schools including Georgia and Penn State.
