Continue ReadingAs the class of 2023 prepares to go on and continue their football careers at the next level, we turn our attention to New Jersey’s recruiting class of 2024 graduates. Since our last recruiting update earlier this month, there have been several other noteworthy college prospects from the Garden State that have announced their commitment status. One commit even flipped!
Currently ranked as Prep Redzone New Jersey’s #13 overall and #1 defensive lineman is headed “between the hedges” in Athens to join the defending two-time College Football Playoff National Champion Georgia Bulldogs. Just over one week ago Thomas made his big announcement via Twitter. With the recent success of the Bulldogs on the field and in the NFL Draft, there is no doubt that Thomas thought this was the next best stop for his football career.
One of Jersey’s top Quarterbacks will not be traveling far, taking the short trip down I-95 for the next four years to his new home. The Pope John product Dietrich has announced that he will be continuing his academic and football career at Temple University. The Owls beat out fellow offerees Bucknell and Monmouth; Duke and Western Michigan were also in the mix.
Prep Redzone New Jersey’s #1 overall rated prospect for the class of 2024 has made a decision. Irvington’s Vaboue Toure Vaboue Toure 6’0″ | 185 lbs | ATH Irvington | 2024 State NJ will be trading his Blue Knights blue for a different shade of blue – Nittany Lion blue to be specific. Penn State beat out several other major programs, including Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Notre Dame to gain the commitment of the dynamic athlete. He is currently the only commit from New Jersey in the 2024 recruiting class that will be heading to Happy Valley.
Union City is a program that I have covered often as of late, and deservedly so, as they are flush with talent. Recently one of their no-fly zone defensive backs from the class of 2024 has determined where he will continue to mature as a student, athlete, and man over the next several years. Lead defensive back Chavis will be heading to Philly to play for Temple University. The Owls beat out several prestigious academic institutions, notably Air Force, Boston College, Fordham, Lehigh, UMass, and UPenn. Look out for iron-sharpening-iron as Chavis will face fellow Temple commit Quarterback Chris Dietrich Chris Dietrich 6’3″ | 205 lbs | QB Pope John | 2024 State NJ in practice very soon.
After previously committing to staying in-state at Rutgers University, Judah Pruitt Judah Pruitt 6’5″ | 315 lbs | OL Shabazz | 2024 State NJ has had a change of heart. Although they lost out on the services of Denzel Chavis Denzel Chavis 6’1″ | 175 lbs | DB Union City | 2024 State NJ , the Boston College Eagles have flipped the commitment of Pruitt. Purely speculation on my end, but in his Twitter announcement Judah uses the hashtag “#OlineU.” It was previously rumored that Rutgers was looking at converting him to defensive line. Perhaps this had to do with his decision to defect and head up north? Stay tuned for more.
