The 2023 football season is right around the corner and at the conclusion of spring practices across Oklahoma, it’s a perfect time to update the prospect rankings! We started this week with the state’s 2025 class and went from a Top 100 to a Top 125. If you missed that update, you can check out the list right here! Throughout the week, we’re diving deep into the rankings with prospect breakdowns. We’re discussing why these players are already on our radar and already on the radar for the next level. Keep it locked in throughout the week as we break down more 2025 prospects. And check back each Monday this month for a new ranking update! Next week, we’ll be updating the 2024 class.
In this breakdown, we’re putting a spotlight on big guys up front along the line of scrimmage. We’re talking about some of the top offensive and defensive linemen in the state’s 2025 class. The offensive line includes a pair of Owasso Rams right at the top and some defensive linemen that will absolutely get after it on that side of the ball. And a few of these prospects have shown they can play on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more prospect breakdowns!
Blake Cherry Blake Cherry 6’6″ | 290 lbs | OL Owasso | 2025 State OK is the first of two monster offensive linemen for the Owasso Rams and they first got on our radar a little over a year ago. Cherry is incredibly skilled and has all the physical tools to be an outstanding offensive tackle. We started seeing the first signs of it last year and he has continued to grow his game. Cherry has seen his recruitment start to take off as well and honestly, when it comes down to Cherry and Haff at Owasso, it’s an absolute coin flip on who’s the better prospect. Both are outstanding and Owasso has a great start along their line of scrimmage. We anticipate the two of them being absolutely dominant this season as the Rams look to contend again.
Carl Albert defensive lineman Caden Davis Caden Davis 6’0″ | LB Carl Albert | 2025 State OK was one of the more disruptive players that we saw in person last season. Lining up at the defensive end position, Davis is more than likely a linebacker at the next level unless he gets bigger over the next few seasons. But for now, he earned All State honors for defensive line and we’re going to keep him here for now. Davis was incredibly productive and racked up the sack numbers and when he wasn’t bringing down the quarterback, he was incredibly disruptive in the backfield. It’s been well documented at this point, especially this week with the 2025 ranking update, with how impressive this 2025 class is at Carl Albert and Davis is one of those standouts.
Out of the seven prospects on this breakdown, Union offensive lineman Jesse Jones Jesse Jones 6’2″ | 280 lbs | OL Union | 2025 State OK has been on our radar the longest. We’ve known about Jones since he was a freshman at Jenks, becoming a rare freshman starter along the Jenks offensive line. After moving to Union last offseason, he also moved positions as he started for the Redhawks at right tackle. With Union losing their left tackle to graduation, we could end up seeing Jones moving over to yet another position as he could slide over to left tackle this fall. That would be pretty impressive when you consider it would be his third position in three years. And he’s had no problems the last two years so it would be even more of a reason to like him at the next level.
Highlights
Sulphur offensive and defensive lineman Justus Gilliam Justus Gilliam 6’1″ | 250 lbs | OL Sulphur | 2025 State OK is one of our favorite prospects in the state’s 2025 class. We’ve watched film of Gilliam since his freshman year at Plainview and it’s really hard to not be impressed with his play on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Gilliam was also one of the top standouts at our prospect camp back in April. Gilliam absolutely brought it on every single rep and he plays with an energy that is rarely matched. At least, it hasn’t been matched so far when we’ve watched him in person. Gilliam is also a potential standout on the defensive side of the ball but for now, we have him listed on the offensive line but he’s a next level talent on either side.
Highlights
Colcord defensive lineman Khaleeal Penn Khaleeal Penn 6’2″ | 305 lbs | DL Colcord | 2025 State OK really impressed us this offseason after back to back dominant performances at our prospect camps. First off, he was the MVP for the defensive line group back in January and then he was one of the top performers at the position at our April camp. We didn’t know much about Penn before this offseason and we’re definitely going to keep an eye on him moving forward. Colcord has quite a few really good pieces coming back so they are going to be a Class A school that should contend for the state championship. Having an absolute game-wrecker up front along the defensive line is going to be something to watch this fall.
Highlights
Ryker Haff Ryker Haff 6’6″ | 290 lbs | OL Owasso | 2025 State OK is the other half of that monster duo for the Owasso Rams along the offensive line. Just like Cherry, Haff has been on our radar for around a year now and he has routinely been one of the top offensive linemen in the state’s 2025 class. And just like we mentioned with Cherry, it really is a coin flip to figure out who the better prospect is. This time around, the coin landed on Haff. And just like Cherry, Haff was a monster performer earlier this year at our January prospect camp. Haff has an incredibly high ceiling and the DNA is also there. His older brother signed with a D1 program out of Owasso several years ago and another older brother was a standout defensive lineman last year.

And our final prospect on this breakdown is another standout that can line up on either side of the ball. Bishop McGuinness big man Zach Tawwater Zach Tawwater 6’5″ | 230 lbs | DL Bishop McGuinness | 2025 State OK earns his spot on the defensive line but he also turns around and plays a little tight end and an overall jumbo athlete for the McGuinness offense. We got a chance to see Tawwater and McGuinness in person last season at least once and it was hard to not come away with his abilities along the defensive line. Tawwater is a very disruptive player up front and the ceiling for him is extremely high. But just like with a few other prospects, it’s still somewhat early to put down his future position in college with ink. There’s still a lot of football to be played before that decision is made.
