In pod number 1 it was the first group receivers, running backs, linebackers and cornerbacks. This group was loaded and all the players got an incredible amount of reps. So many guys put on tremendous performances and you can take a look at the top guys from pod 1.
The quarterback from Smithtown West continues to have a great summer. He looked like the most consistent quarterback in a loaded Pod 1. Stahl made every throw you asked him too and his timing was on point throughout the event. His accuracy on every type of throw was incredible and he made a case as the top quarterback at the event. In a rep heavy environment, Stahl’s leadership was on display and he took command every time he was out there, which was similar to how he acted in his team 7v7’s.
In the individual running back drills, Reeder stuck out with how explosive he was. We knew in the fall how much of a bruiser he was at running back, but this offseason he kept on showing the finesse in his game. He was burning linebackers and continuously getting separation during his reps. Reeder has good hands and he even was able to make tough contested catches.

Unquestionably the top tight end in this pod. At 6 ‘4 and the way Menghi moves was a little bit too much for linebackers most of the day. He had one of the best reps of the afternoon when he showed off his leaping ability and high pointed the ball really well for an amazing contested catch. When linebackers tried to get physical with him, it didn’t matter as he was able to control his matchup and come away with a productive day.

The most physical and arguably the most athletic cornerback I saw during the first pod at the downstate classic. I had a hard time believing that he was making a transition to corner because he made things look natural at the downstate classic. He brought the physicality and intensity to every single rep. He was a beast in press coverage, as he gave receivers a tough time off the line with his strength. His pure speed and solid change of direction allowed him to shut down some of the fastest receivers at the event
There was a lot of hype around Samuel coming into this event after the recent offers and he lived up to it. He showed that he was probably the top “college ready prospect” at the event. At 6 foot 4 and with his speed he was fun to watch. His official time didn’t come out but had one of the fastest 40 yard dash times at the event. His superior athleticism helped him have some highlight reel catches over defenders. Samuel’s quickness helped him separate from press coverage consistently and he was able to get open a ton.
The captain from Chaminade came away as the top linebacker in Pod 1. He was one of the smarter linebackers this fall and it carried over at the downstate classic. Miller was able to read routes very well and he closed in on the ball and had great timing throughout the afternoon. He was tasked with going against an extremely quick running back group and I’d have to say he did the best job matching feet and getting into hips as he won a good amount of his reps.

Another event where Jack Melore Jack Melore 6’1″ | 185 lbs | WR Smithtown West | 2024 State NY shined the entire day. He truly confirmed that his ball skills are some of the best in the state. If it was anywhere near Melore, he was hauling it in. He went against some talented defensive backs but it didn’t matter. He used his solid size to his advantage and he was catching everything.

Devin Pigott
Devin Pigott
The event was filled with Erasmus Hall defensive backs that I will mention later, but Devin Pigott was the first to go and he really set the tone. He had one of the best reps of the day with the patience and hip work that he displayed while locking up a receiver. He was technically sound and read routes well. When the receivers and DB’s moved to the red zone, I saw the patience that Pigott had and his football IQ really shined as he made some terrific plays.
